Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandPerfect base from which to explore the area. It was small but efficient. We had no rain so could utilise the outdoor area. It was quirky to have the shower outside but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a hot shower - I’d assumed it would be cold. I’d be happy to stay there again.

CanadaThere's no getting away from it...the studio is wee, and very close to the 1B house. The coffee machine is a Nespresso; we would have much preferred a plunger/cafetierre. Our reading of the facilities -- "kitchenette" -- led us to believe there would be a stovetop/hob. The studio does not appear in the header photo, at least in the App -- it's off to the right.
Surprisingly, the outdoor shower was lovely -- hot right away and powerful -- far better than trying to squeeze it into the studio where there really isn't the space. The wee room heats up quickly with the sun, and was 37°C when we arrived (30° outside) and the portable a/c unit was a godsend, and had an extra hour to cool as we were granted an early checkin. So it was cool enough to sleep by bedtime! Property manager Jason was excellent. As the Booking.com listing doesn't mention the fact that the shower is outside, he told us after we booked, and gave us the option to cancel for a full refund. He also responded immediately (c. 10 mins) when I messaged about the wasps outside, offering to send an exterminator. However, the wasps were not a problem to us, and we hardly saw any after the first couple of hours, even when cooking and eating outside. We love to BBQ and used the wee, gas-fired unit to cook our dinners, as there isn't a hob. We also enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner outside at the wee table (there isn't a table inside.) For Kaiteriteri, it represents good value.

ItalyPrevious guests didn't clean the BBQ (manners are not for everyone) but Jason made me extend my stay for two extra nights with no charge for that small inconvenient which honestly, no big deal.
It's a nice little accomodation with a very well equipped kitchenette (loved the nespresso machine with the milk foamer and the cooking plate) and a quirky but private outdoor shower with great water pressure and temperature. It can get a little hot during sunny day as all NZ accomodation but there's a fan and a little heater for chilly nights. Great location, walking distance from the little town Center. Jason, the agent is very communicative and responds right away in case of necessity. It's an accomodation on a budget, if you wish to have all the amenities of an hotel, you should book an hotel then.

AustraliaAs we found out, the bookings.com listing (unlike the airbnb listing) doesn't seem to include some important things. After booking, we got this info from the host (thanks!) but the bookings.com listing should really include it before booking.
Good location and ok price and communicative host.

New ZealandSelf contained with all the amenities I needed, close to main area of Kaiteriteri, private. The whole of my stay was when Cyclone Tam hit, but with the amenities and wifi, I was able to entertain myself since my outdoor adventures couldn't happen. The outdoor shower was really nice even in the circumstances - nice and hot, great pressure. I thought there was only a BBQ, but there was a microwave, ceramic hotplate with pots/pans and electric frypan too to cook with. Bed big and comfortable. Clean, modern. Really great! The property management were also great, kept in touch and made sure the stay went well all the way through.

United KingdomCockroaches! Dead ones throughout the property when I arrived and continued to make their way into the studio even with all doors and windows shut. Very unpleasant having to deal with so many. Air conditioning could certainly be much better as well, not least because opening the window to use the portable machine lets more cockroaches in!
Fantastic location.

United StatesNot a big thing but I really expected more view from the photo on booking.com. Pretty sure the shot that was there when I booked was taken from the main house or the upper driveway not the cute little studio
The location was great…. Easy walk to beach and town amenities. kitchen was well stocked and electric skillet was a nice addition. I felt the studio was as advertised, small but efficient and clean

New ZealandUnfortunately the outside barbeque had not been cleaned from previous guests. It was greasy & smoked when attempted to use it. I didn't use it in the end.
The location was amazing, 10 mins walk downhill to Kaiteriteri Beach. Beautiful view overlooking the inlet & hills beyond. The studio has everything you need for a holiday including a microwave & Nespresso coffee machine. The outdoor shower was great, especially after spending the day @ the beach. I could walk straight into the very hot shower without walking sand into the appt. No problem @ all in the Summer months. The Kimi Ora Spa 5 mins drive away is peon to the Public for a small day fee & includes indoor & outdoor pool. Sauna, Jacuzzi, & treatments.

United KingdomMessage from owner before we arrived - ‘A final note, our property is very well liked and attracts a lot of visitors. We work very hard as a team to ensure that the property is serviced properly and completely for your arrival however, very occasionally, things are not just right. We ask you to please contact Jason ASAP if you are not happy with anything and we will do our very best to make it right. We want you to have a great stay. ‘ There were some simple problems and definitely things that had been noted by other guests but apparently nothing had been done. FYI The outside shower lacks privacy especially if the wind is blowing the tarpaulin about as it is overlooked by the house next door. We had no hangers, no bottle opener and no regulation bin bags that were needed to have rubbish collected. No attempt was made to rectify any of this simple stuff while we were there for 4 nights.

New ZealandThe high safety risk of the decking area. Building code requirements are that any deck more than 1 metre above the ground must have safety railings all around the outside edges - this property’s deck has only a small section of safety barrier beside the BBQ and no safety railings up the side of the several steps into the property. The property should NOT be rented out until it complies with this requirement. The lack of any heating on cold nights. The outdoor shower is an insult to paying customers. There is no lighting at or near the shower for night time use. The pathetic plastic curtain flaps in the gentlest of breezes and also comes off the hooks.
Location near to the beaches. Prompt communication with the manager. The kitchenette is compact but adequate. The crockery was also good quality.

We had booked the studio but found it to be very small & surprisingly, with only an outside shower & so is probably more suitable for backpackers. However, the agent for the property was able to put us in the beautiful two bedroomed house on the same property. It was very well equipped & with stunning views across the estuary. We were very pleased with the way the agent handled the situation.

New ZealandOutdoor shower was a little quirky, manageable in the heat of the sun at end of the day, a little chilly in the morning. Shower curtain kept blowing off the hooks in the wind. Having said that we did manage fine, was just a little surprised about it. Couldn’t find the hairdryer?
Loved the comfy bed, very nice studio room, perfect for a short stay near to Kaiterteri, easily within walking distance of two beaches. Extremely clean. Enjoyed sitting in the sun on outside terrace area.
