Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesFun little basic hut in Arthur’s pass. Had a great night cooking dinner and listening to old records on the record player. Had a nice fire in the pot belly stove in the morning. It’s exactly as the host describes. Very basic

LithuaniaI really like the instructions that the host gave us before our stay. So nothing was unexpected. We also liked the place because it has a good vibe and felt quite cozy.. the batch itself was quite old fashioned but that part we liked also. It was a good rest for one night! You could say that it is not the most convenient place to stay, but the atmosphere was really good. Also the place felt clean

United KingdomThe outside toilet would have been a pain in the rain at night.
All of the facilities were fully functional. The cooker, water, toilet, and fridge all worked well. Staying overnight had a camping feel about it.

New ZealandWe are railways kids, so freaking loved the trains going past. Road noise was minimal. Lovely comfy beds. Beautiful environment. We went out for dinner, so can't rate the cooking facilities aside from snacks and tea and coffee. Both my brother and I will come back. The dog had a lovely time too.

United KingdomWe knew it was outside bathroom. The sand flies were pretty bad even with repellent and I got badly bitten. Not the hosts fault.
Exactly as described. This is basic but everything you need. The train is loud but brief. Doesn't run at night. Otherwise very secluded. What an awesome privilege to be in this special place.

AustraliaJust a suggestion -the message about turning the hot water on is great if it isn't already on - instead it must have already been on, so we turned it off and the water went cold. Better to have a clear indication on the switch to identify what is "on" for your international visitors. Also might be time to tidy up the electrics.
The property was as described - a rustic hut with reasonable facilities, fine for an overnight on Highway 73. Very helpful information provided to ensure guests can find the place, and also information of nearest location for supplies.

CanadaNothing.....we were prepared for a rustic cabin stay as advertised.
Loved a wood stove to warm the tiny cabin on a cool, drizzly day..... Air fryer is a perfect replacement for an oven.

United KingdomFloor covering was wet inside and bedding was very tired - haven’t slept in flannelette sheets for decades.
Amazing location and unique experience. Wood burning stove was fabulous as the temperature dropped at night. Really fantastic base in the middle of the mountains with basic facilities. We loved it- even the train noises.

Neutral ratings because it was, as advertised, very basic, , but with unexpected mod. cons.

NetherlandsBeware that the description of this place doesn't match the place. After we booked the owner warned us that the toilet was outside. Okay, am not fuzzy but upon arrival it turned out the shower is also outside. It's a covered crappy built expanded part next to the shed, immediately behind the entrance. Even that is fine, though when we opened the entrance door it fell out of the hinges, because the wood underneath had been visible rotten away. When we contacted the owner he lackluster told us the previous host had broken the door that morning and he had forgotten to tell us. Right. He was very accusatory that the former guest hadn't opened the door properly to the inside, while it was clear the wood had expanded and that would have been impossible to do. Because it was blazenly cold and it was superwindy outside, we couldn't take a shower without everything would have blown away, and already been frozen to the bone because of the weather. Also for the stove the firelighters where nowhere to be found. And the lockbox where the key was stored in was so old and stuck I had to cram it open with a rock. What was more disappointing is that when I asked the owner for some compensation, he said he would think about it and then just ignored me, as he also ignored Booking.com when I complained with them that his description of the place isn't correct. The location is nice but I was disappointed by the lack of hospitality and unresponsiveness of the owner.

AustraliaI lit the wood stove but as there didn’t seem to be any fire starters most people would struggle to do this. Once the stove was lit it set off the smoke alarm which didn’t seem to have a cancel button.

AustraliaThe address did not show up on Google Maps, however the host gave very clear instructions which made it quite easy to navigate to and we did not get lost. The airfryer seemed a bit dirty from previous use, so we were unable to use it.
Very unique stay in the middle of the mountains. It was certainly a small hut, which made for a fun experience as a part of our travels. The toilet is outside, but it was very clean and modern so it was not an issue for us. Check in instructions were very clear. It was interesting to be able to use the record player and the wood stove. We were lucky to have a relatively clear night which allowed us to have a great view of the stars

New ZealandAlthough the toilet was advertised as outside, it was fairly cold trying to visit it in the night. The toilet sinks drain leaked when used and needs plumbing repairs.
Great peaceful location, with just the right amenities for a good stay. Everything was as advertised. The place was a perfect getaway for us. We're even lucky enough to catch a clear cloudless sky on New Years to see the stars twinkling
