Never saw any staff. The closed before closing time and had many papers/keys hung up for people with names on them. Our room was good, but not the specific one we booked. It was bigger (nice) but we weren't sure if others would be joining us. We booked a room with just the four of us. Came home from dinner and someone was at the facilities with no key but a reservation. Could not find a number to call with an answer. Another guest allowed them to stay in the room as they thought there was an extra bed. The toilet and shower was one room (one for each gender). So if someone was in the bathroom, you could not shower etc.

Great location. The facilities were old and needed work, but everything we needed was there. The other guests were friendly and we had great conversations over breakfast and dinner. The rooms were warm (perfect for winter).

You have to pay 5$ extra to use a towel. The only window in the room was on the ceiling and is not accessible to be opened.

We stayed in Tekapo Backpackers for two nights. Overall we are happy with the stay and the facilities. It's good for a short stay and it has excellent location.

We were grateful we were given a dorm room to ourselves. Not many people were in the kitchen. Separate bathroom for woman and each bathroom with toilet was nice. The reception was nice and friendly with smooth guidance. Great location.

It was difficult to work in the kitchen (at the bench and sink and oven top) with more than 2 people at a time, as that area was small.

When I called the staff's number after their working hour, the staff was so annoyed and asked me if it was an emergency or not and he told me that he already finished his work. It was not a nice experience to be honest.

It was a nice and friendly backpackers hostel. People had a friendly atmosphere because the kitchen and the common area are not so big.

Kitchen was a bit small for everyone staying, sponges and cleaning cloths were a bit grubby. Not lots of communal space with there being sofas in the corridors outside bedrooms.

Bedrooms were comfy, clean, fresh and spacious. Private off road parking. Great location.

The other guests didn't do their dishes so we couldn't use the kitchen well. Our room didn't have an open window so it was hot and moistly inside. The place isn't the problem but the person staying in the same room was snoring so bad that I couldn't sleep well.

The location is in the best place! They let us leave our luggage before the check in time. The staff was really nice and the explanation was easy to understand.

The exhaust from the bathrooms need fixing. They get a lot of condensation after a shower.

Bathrooms & kitchen were disgusting. No proper drainage so bathrooms flooded - dirty dishes everywhere in kitchen. Public spaces not at all clean. Also quite expensive for what you get

The bathrooms needed to be cleaned more often as the drains blocked easily. Also need to bring your own towels or pay $5 for a towel.

The location was excellent, right on the water. Comparing to the surrounding accommodation it was a good price, but still pricy to pay $300 a night for a backpackers family room with shared bathrooms. Staff were lovely, location great, room comfortable.

The beds are quite loud and there is only 4 bathrooms. The shower and toilets are together so there can be quite a queue especially in the morning. If there is 4 people showering it’s going to take a while until you can go to the toilet which was a bit annoying.

I really loved the location. The bedroom was nice and clean.
