Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe location, the property and the history around how the property is significant of the heritage of the area was part of the amazing experience. Fred and Lamees were wonderful hosts who provided information and accommodated us which made the stay more memorable. The view from the room was beyond words and the closeness to nature made it an absolutely wonderful. Only thing to note is that the closest supermarket or dairy is in Rotorua and therefore it’s best to bring what you may need with you as you arrive. The hosts actually provide the essentials for breakfast too which was greatly appreciated!

AustraliaThere are quite a few steep steps, to be expected in a “tree nest”, suggest packing a small bag and leaving heavy suitcases in the car
We loved everything! Only 20 min scenic drive from Rotorua, so peaceful, spectacular views, wonderful architecture and decor, friendly hosts

United StatesWe got lost on the grounds a couple of times because there are so many paths, gates, and walkways. Maybe it's just us, but a small sign or indicator of how to get around might have helped (it wasn't a big deal at all, just felt like maybe we were trespassing on their personal property trying to figure out how to get to our car)!
It's a bit remote, but that's one of the reasons we picked it! Overlooks Lake Tarawera and the magnificent sleeping volcano (I could never tire of these views)! Lamees and Fred were fabulous and kind. The apartment was comfortable, peaceful, and beautifully decorated. The couch (all the furniture and the entire place was built by Fred and it is so ingenious) looks so uncomfortable in the photos but is really nicely comfortable. Having the fridge stocked with snacks and breakfast foods was a beautiful touch. It had all we needed and then some. The views, the hosts, the accommodations were all excellent!

IrelandThe facilities didn’t match the description on booking.com. There was no barbecue as described and no sink for washing dishes and preparing food. No restaurants nearby so we had brought steak to cook on bbq. Thankfully the host was extremely helpful and offered to cook them for us and even brought us a delicious homemade dessert.
Absolutely amazing setting and quirky and unuque property designed and built by the architect owner. Beautiful terrace with views of the lake and sound of birdsong

New ZealandHaving to leave ❤
Our experience from the very beginning was exceptional. Fred was super accommodating and nothing was a problem. When we walked into our treetop nest we were blown away by the amazing view and the lovely furnishings. The fridge held yummy breakfast goodies and we simply could not fault anything. Would love to one day stay again at the amazing Te Whare Treetop Nest 🤩🌻✨

United StatesThis property was one of the most beautiful slices of heaven I have stayed at. It was architecturally magnificent and honored the Maori land it was located on. The views were breathtaking, there was delicious breakfast fixings of fresh fruit, bread, yogurt and more. Lamees and Fred were excellent hosts and we couldn’t have for a better escape to the hills and lakes of New Zealand.

ItalyI would always suggest to avoid Roto-vegas and I would likely choose this accomodation in the future for many reasons, but I must say the apartment was a bit cold and humid (unfortunately it rained all the time) and that should be improved somehow. Moreover I would not recommend it if you are travelling with many luggages or have mobility issues (there are quite a few steps to get to the last floor). Parking space may be a bit complicated if you have a very big/long car.
Amazing place! The location is outstanding, not only the view, but the villa and the apartment is something original and unique, perfectly nestled in the beautiful natural surroundings, full of NZ plants, trees and birds. Loved every details and the decorations. Good natural breakfast was made available (fruit, jam, coffee, yogurt). Owners were really welcoming and caring and they also helped me with something I wanted to buy after the check out.

FinlandThe weather was not very good, but obviously this is not something that could be fixed. Anyway, we managed to enjoy every moment in Rotorua.
A jewel in front of Tarawera Lake and Tarawera Mountain. An incredible romantic place, full of romantism and erotism, designed in a perfect symbiosis with the beautiful nature around, by the owner. The view from the bed was amazing, the birds singing every morning was a big add on to this exceptional experience. The owners are very nice, helpful, with big smiles, and they did take care of everything. Thank you very much!
