Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaCould hear every step upstairs guests took. Needs insulation or carpet with underlay. Window over the door needs to be covered as light came in all night.
Room was clean. Parking was good. Pleased to see a fridge, toaster and microwave. Really handy.

United KingdomAbout 15 minutes drive from Oamaru. No laundry etc. All odd crockery & cutlery. Not well equipped.
Striking looking property in large grounds. Clean. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. More of a Retreat than a Resort.

New ZealandThe room we stayed in didnt have any internal window coverings so the hall way lights shining throug the windows all night. But also the room wasnt quite ready for people to stay so maybe that still needs to be looked at. Also we was travelling with our dog and when book was added to the booking so when arrived we was moved rooms to another one. The booking was made for a king studio room with extra large double bed the room we ended up in was two single beds with not kitchenette ect small details but worth noting
Nice grounds with history of the grounds

AustraliaNothing. The title "Resort' could be misleading if you are wanting a swimming pool, gym, or restaurant facilities. For me it was a perfect place to unwind, after a very early morning international flight and drive from Christchurch, before starting my travels and catching up with family in NZ
A very friendly, welcoming young lady greeted me on arrival. The room was lovely, large, and very clean. Comfortable bed. Loved the location - it was in a very tranquil setting. May not suit everyone as you need transport to drive to restaurants and shops. I stocked up in Oamaru before my stay. A very restful place to chill out. Take some reading material with you. TV reception?

United StatesThe location was a little remote, meaning there was nothing nearby to walk to and there was no on-site restaurant. I think they will have one, but it wasn't open during our stay.
The grounds and the building were beautiful and fun to explore. The room was large and very comfortable. Parking was free. The owner was lovely and very helpful.

New ZealandWedding function - we felt bit strange walking round when wedding guests were there but it wasn't that bad at all. All over very happy with our stay.
Loved being abel to stay here! Lovely comfy beds. Generous space for the whole room. Great shower. Was pleasantly surprised by lack of noise. There was a wedding function being held. We were worried would be kept awake all night by loud music which you could hear in hallway. We are pleased to report nope- barely heard a thing once door closed to our room.

AustraliaNothing to dislike
It was lovely arriving there and exploring the history and how well it has been developed. It’s quite wonderful and it was very good to be there in the great bedrooms with a balcony and a lovely bathroom. Looking out over the gardens surrounding the main building is relaxing and very engaging in the outdoors with nature.

AustraliaNothing in particular
The location is lovely with a car if you don't need to be in a town - and not a long drive from shops etc anyway. It is a lovely building with pretty nice rooms. It seems to get used for tour groups as well as weddings etc - so it was really quiet when I was there but I suspect it also gets very busy!

New ZealandThe worst aspect of the property is that the location was a bit out of way for a visit to Oamaru. It’s 15 minutes - so hardly a deal breaker.

New ZealandThere needs to be a mirror in the room. There is only one in the bathroom.
The rooms were very large and clean. One of the rooms was more modern as the lighting was better. It was a nice quiet place away from traffic. A short drive into the town of Oamaru.
