Location 10/10. Close enough to Mangawhai town that it’s not a hassle, far enough into the bush to feel relaxed and away from a city environment. The property is stunning with sheep and a waterfall and all the amenities you need. Warm cottage, no TV (which we loved), playing cards provided and the most gorgeous walk in shower. We couldn’t fault it.

Stayed in the Kotare Cottage. It was large, tidy and welcoming. Had all the necessary amenities. Bathroom was very clean and well designed. Communication with Sara was easy and check in was smooth. Lovely surroundings. Made for a very comfortable and peaceful stay. Would definitely come back and stay for longer!

We were so surprised at how amazing this place was! The communal chill out area was an amazing and the rooms were so spacious and comfortable! The bathrooms were so modern and the deck with the swing was perfect to sit outside and watch the birds. So many useful cooking facilities and loved the touch of milk, tea and coffee! Also just a short drive away from town!

Some basic breakfast provisions would be the icing on the cake.

Beautiful little cottage perfect to unplug and unwind. The build is new and a perfect size for a couple. Loved the deep veranda, egg chair and huge bed. The rain shower was wonderful too along with the underfloor heating. A short walk through paddocks to a little waterfall was a pleasant way to start the day.

Incredible location - exactly what you want when escaping Auckland suburbia. But also really close to local shops and restaurants. Cabins are so tastefully decorated and look brand new. Very cosy with underfloor heating. Super comfy bed. Loved waking up to the tranquility and bush views. Will definitely be back.

The room was lovely and the privacy like no other. Super quiet, a perfect getaway. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but that's a personal taste. The road to get there was in poor repair, so you're best served by a larger car/SUV.

Nowhere to hang the big bath towels to dry.There are two very small towel rails which are fine for a hand towel but not a big bath sheet.Didnt help it rained during our stay so could not hang them outside either

Location is awesome if you like being remote.Yet it is only 10min drive to Mangawhai . Beautiful big bed, lovely bathroom and we loved the outlook into the bush from our deck.

The cabins were very comfortable and perfectly furnished. We stayed at the Piwakawaka & Tui cabins. We watched the stars from our bed and listened to the morepork.

EVERYTHING, it was amazing, by far the most luxurious stay we have had in a long time, for once the photos are true! There was even heated flooring, wish we stayed longer, will be the only place we will stay in Mangawhai 10/10

Nothing...it was great

The Hideout is an awesome place to stay...The location is as close as you can get to spending some time in the natural bush, but still having beautiful amenities at your disposal while residing in one of the nicely appointed cottages...everything about the cottage was great, from the luxurious bathroom, excellent bed, underfloor heating, useful kitchenette, and the lovely view through to the bush, that can be taken in from the very well built deck.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Hideaway. The service from Sara was great. She was very responsive and adaptable to our changing plans. The cabins had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Beautiful bathrooms and birdsong.

An excellent cottage , lovely interior, nice modern bathroom but the best part is the incredible location, so peaceful & I’ve never seen so many stars in the sky as from there.
