Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyVery clean & comfy flat. Nice and quiet neighbourhood. There is a huge sting ray living in the beach next to the flat. You might find it sleeping under the bathing Island. Bridget had put red light torches in the flat for her guess to find Kiwis. We tried- unfortunately not successful. Im sure the next visitors will have more luck. One more thing. Book the Tucker Thompson boot-tour, when staying in Russell. It’s awesome.

United KingdomNothing not to like but I would put a standing lamp behind the chairs as it is quite dark for evening reading. A bathroom shelf to place toiletries on is also needed.
Everything. Bridget is a delightful owner. Lovely home. Supremely comfortable.

New ZealandVery friendly and accommodating host; well-presented two bedroom unit located under the host's two-storey house and deck, which provided cool shade in the summer heat; easy access from the road; car parking is on the grass verge at the side of the road; quiet beach-side neighbourhood with friendly neighbours; good location for spotting wild kiwis in the bush with an easy track (about 100-200 metres from the property) -- red light torches were provided for kiwi-spotting and we spotted three kiwis on our second night there; good easy access to lovely beaches. (Note: the photos of the property were taken just before our departure.)

United KingdomNo cooker but we knew that before going and the Russell restaurants are great.
It had everything we needed and Bridget went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The bed was big and comfy and the location is quiet. Very close to the beach and a short drive to Russell

New ZealandA little noisy overhead as two storey house and accommodation on the bottom floor but it was a busy time of the year so understandable.
Bridget was super friendly and helpful. Lots of extra touches like coffee machine and kiwi specific torches. Appreciated that I could bring my well behaved dog and the location was fantastic, so close to two lovely beaches and close to a DOC walk along the headland and a lovely Bushwick nearby.

Everything. I stayed here the weekend of the swim race from Paihia to Russel and it was the perfect place to relax. The room has everything you need for a great stay, the area was really quiet, the bed is the comfiest I've slept on anywhere, and, being such a hot weekend, I loved that the room stayed pleasantly cool which made sleeping a lot easier and more comfortable. Bridget was an absolutely wonderful host and helped to create the perfect stay. A bonus was being right next to Tapeka Point for great swimming the next day. Thanks Bridget :)

New ZealandCan't find anything I did not like, perhaps I wished we stayed longer:-)
Location is key here. Close to two beaches and two wonderful walking tracks as well. only 2 min by car to Russell Township itself and about an hour on foot (one can combine two lovely shaded walking tracks for that). Russell's Long Beach (another fab swimming beach) is only about 5 min by car. The room is spacious and has all the amenities one would need for a short or longer stay (sorry no kitchen but there are plenty of good restaurants in Russell). Tapeka is the quiet suburb of Russell and if one is lucky one can view kiwi if going out at night.

New ZealandThat it was a bit too far for us to walk to town. Not knowing the geography of the island, we didnt realise there was a large hill to navigate, therefore we had to drive in and out each time, and it would have been too dark to walk at night.
The room was in a good location for the local beach and the kiwi viewing trail. Location was a few minutes drive from town, which was ok. Quiet part of the island, away from the crowds in town, which was also a nice break. We loved being able to go looking for Kiwi's in the bush walk at night.
