Perfect to calm down. The Cabin is really remote and i recommend to arrive with enough food and enough gasoline in the car. There is a gasstation nearby but not with every option. The Cabin has everything you will need to enjoy your stay.

No fan in the bathroom so the window needs to be opened when showering. Not a problem except if you shower after dark as the bugs will rush in.

Amazing location to explore the Caitlin’s. Very cute cabin. Comfortable and clean. Good kitchen facilities which was important as there are no restaurants or shops very close to the area.

Everything was great! Maybe this is relevant for some people: There are curtains on all windows, however, they are not complete blackout curtains. If you prefer to sleep in pitch black and don't want to be woken up by the sun, you could consider bringing an eye mask. I didn't mind a bit of light in the morning, so I slept really well :)

I absolutely loved my stay here! The cabin includes a well-equipped kitchen and a clean & modern bathroom. There are also a lot of windows, so it was bright, welcoming, and comfortable inside. I also loved that there were heated blankets provided for the bed and a small space heater which helped keep me warm at night. There even was a small table with chairs on the porch, so one could have eaten outside (it was still a bit too cold outside for me to do that). You can also see the sheep from your windows :) Location-wise this cabin worked perfectly for me since I could easily do day trips exploring the Catlins as I was able to reach both Curio Bay and Nugget Point in a reasonable time. My last highlight was Mindy, the friendly dog, who would greet me sometimes and ask for belly rubs :)

I came during the winter to have access to the Bluff oyster festival (was only an hour and a half distance) and I just loved this location. Very ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ - I could see sheep from my window !! Also I got my car stuck in mud on my way to the Whistling Frog for dinner and the host came and rescued me freeing the car and offering me dinner and anything else I needed since it was after dark. 11/10 :)

Great location for exploring the Catlins as Papatowai is fairly central. Tram track cosy cabin is a great place to stop, compact but cosy. Excellent shower and comfy bed. Great to be able to stay with our Border terrier. Dave is very friendly and helpful. The local store is well equipped and the food truck does excellent quality food. Good walks along river, beach or bush all on the doorstep. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location, lovely and relaxing. We loved our neighbours (some sheep!). Very well appointed little place, we found it really cosy and enjoyed sleeping, relaxing and cooking in it. Great shower pressure!

Nothing of note. We had perfect weather, the Cabin must get very cold in winter. Watch out for the bed's legs v.painful when kicked.

The Cabin Reserve is very conveniently sited to enable visitors to explore this coastal region.

The first night was very hot and stuffy, there was no fan and we couldn't open the windows because of the mosquitos and bugs coming in. Unfortunately there were no flyscreens on the windows or door. Maybe something to add and also block out curtains would be a great addition as it was very bright in the bedroom early in the morning. Apart from that, we loved everything else.

Great view and the best shower during our trip, also it was spotless clean and David welcomed us when we arrived. The cabin was very small (cozy) which the name already suggests. For us (couple) it was ok, although we had to leave our big luggage in the car as there was not much room to put it. But there is a big deck with table and chairs and bbq outside.

The bed felt pretty small - it was listed as a double bed, so it wasn’t a surprise, but couldn’t do another stay in that small of a bed. Fitting a queen in would make a huge difference for couples.

Had everything we needed and was a great place to explore from!

Nothing, it was fabulous

Very cosy cabin with everything you need inside. Couldn't wish for a better place to stay at in the Catlins. It can get a bit cold in the night but a small heater is provided and also heating blankets which are awesome!

Curtains were not blocking the light very well and they are almost too small for the windows. A single clothesline tucked in by the trellis wall would be great - the foldable thing is a bit awkward and seems to be prone to be flipped over by the wind.

Lovely view, very good cooking facilities, roomy fridge (!), excellent shower, nice pillows.
