Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandTobacco smoke smell
It is a very nice rural setting. Rustic well designed and roomy and well equipped for cooking meals. Warm with heat pump and peaceful outlook overlooking the garden and citrus orchard- lovely for being on the deck in warmer weather. Decor was in Turquoise theme which I liked. It was fun. Amazingly good value. Beautifully clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside was someone had previously been smoking inside, and it while the smell had been overlaid with room freshener, it wasn’t a nice smell. I am sensitive to tobacco smoke but it may not bother others.

New ZealandFantastic property. Slightly out of the way of the main town centres, but that’s the beauty of it. When we got there, the owner came out to make sure we found the cabin. The room was so clean, well stocked with tea and etc in the kitchen, and even featured a Tempurpedic bed. As the cabin is quite far off the main road, it was wonderfully quiet, too. We were lucky enough to stay on a clear night and see the gorgeous stars. Fantastic stay, 10/10 will be back.

AustraliaFor the lady, who was the cleaner, was aggressive and actually make us feel unwelcome. Considering we paid almost the same as people paid for the entire attached Horseshoe manor we are appauled by what we were greeted with. The filfth was horrid and we would not have expected to have to clean the dishes, vanity, washing machine and many other apects of the property before feeling safe to utilise them. The skirting boards were filthy. There were food remains in the sink and it required scrubbing to clean. In and around the vanity there were dark, thick, long hairs and stains which we cleaned. On the dining table there were food remains everywhere and the chairs were pealing and were covered in food crumbs. The placemats had thick grease and food remains on them. There was no way we could have cleaned the caked on grease on the oven. The washing machine left coagulated lumps of whatever on our clothing and when we asked for some pegs to hang out our washing on the ridiculous clothesline, we were given about twenty pegs. There were cobwebs everywhere and my wife who is recovering from cancer was in tears most of the time. We contacted Booking.com customer services on our arrival date and received nothing in reply. We would not have expected this very sub standard residence to be accepted as a listing on booking.com. This is very disappointing! We look forward to compensation for such an upsetting and distraught experience. No one should have to be subjected to this, let alone a cancer treatment person.
Not much. Cindy was available via China and we did not want the cost of calls to China on our bill. There were a lot of repetative conversation points needed to re-explain previously stated points of reference with regards to check-in requirements when talking to Cindy. The bed was quite comfortable. We were made to feel as though we were at the wrong residence, as the lady checking us in was incapable of speaking English, (the cleaner)and we were made to feel we were at the worng place. Wrong dates. Wrong time. She kept shaking her head at us, grunting and motioning for us to repeatedly show our booking notification. Signage was extremely poor as there were multiple driveways off a gravel road, none of which said Tree Top Cabins.
