Kitchen area wasn't the cleanest and our room was a bit damp from being shaded all day

Location is great. Self check-in was easy but could have been more visible. Room was warm and quiet which is exceptional when staying in such a shared environment. Saw kea on the street in the morning so happy

Haka House Franz Josef was a cozy and welcoming place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shared kitchen was well-equipped and convenient for cooking. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect—close to the glacier and local trails. A great stopover for exploring the area.

The carpet had a slight musty smell, but overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Check-in was very smooth, even though we arrived late it was no problem at all. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the helicopter tour, which was super convenient for us. My mom especially loved the kitchen; it’s well-equipped with everything we needed. The living room was a perfect place to relax, with movies and games available, and everything looked great. The bedrooms were also very nice and comfortable.

The shower cubicle experienced clog during our stay.

Location wise is great since it closes to small town where I can get all of my necessities i.e.: gas station, attraction places ticket counters, local cafes etc. Room clean and tidy. It is just the shower room during our stay was out of shower gel. The communal space like dinning room and wash room are clean and well equipped. Parking space available on site. The checkin and checkout process is so easy even we reached there after their office hours.

the staff weren’t the most welcoming. the common areas were very dirty but this was more so an issue with guests not cleaning up after themselves.

Common area was quite dirty, lots of unwashed crockery and cutlery stacked up on the benches and old food in the sink. Rubbish and food in the common area and it looked like it hadn’t been swept in a week. Our room also had hair through the shower (in the drain and under/behind shampoo bottles on the floor. A paper bag belonging to the previous room occupants was also in the room, stuffed between the wall and fridge. Sheets were also slightly discoloured, although washed. Overall the stay was fine, the room was good - cleaner than the rest of the facilities. Some hooks in the bathroom would be beneficial.
