Everything was pretty great, it was quiet season so not many other guests, staff did a cozy movie night anyway. Sauna was a bonus.

Location is great. Self check-in was easy but could have been more visible. Room was warm and quiet which is exceptional when staying in such a shared environment. Saw kea on the street in the morning so happy

Kitchen area wasn't the cleanest and our room was a bit damp from being shaded all day

Staying in a hostel, sharing a room with your adult son, could be a recipe for disaster. But the room at Haka was fabulous - clean, comfortable, quiet. The kitchen and dining facilities looked top notch, although we walked everywhere and ate in town (can recommend the Blue Ice cafe and bar). (If you're looking for free glow worms, do the walk at the south entrance to Fox Glacier rather than the one at Franz ... it's a bit naff)

Haka House Franz Josef was a cozy and welcoming place to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shared kitchen was well-equipped and convenient for cooking. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect—close to the glacier and local trails. A great stopover for exploring the area.

Had an excellent stay here. Incredibly clean, comfortable beds, great facilities. The sauna was big and clean - a real bonus during the stay!

Check-in was very smooth, even though we arrived late it was no problem at all. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the helicopter tour, which was super convenient for us. My mom especially loved the kitchen; it’s well-equipped with everything we needed. The living room was a perfect place to relax, with movies and games available, and everything looked great. The bedrooms were also very nice and comfortable.

The carpet had a slight musty smell, but overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

This was the best place we stayed in. Spacious for a backpackers. Staff were so lovely. Ideal location as well.

Kitchen was a little lacking in utensils although nowhere we stayed had tongs for some reason. Bathroom was a little outdated but still good.

Awesome value for my money. I got my a room with my own private bathroom and it was fantastic. Shower had awesome pressure and bathroom had plenty of space. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were brilliant

Haka house seems to be the place to stay if you’re looking for budget friendly accommodation. Kitchen area is super big and well stocked. We also got upgraded to a private bathroom free of cost which was a nice surprise.

Really nice beds and loves that you could get some privacy and warm rooms! Also clean and nice staff!

Kitchen was lacking a few things to cook with, had to be creative Also a bit too commercial for me, but I imagine a lot of people prefer that

Location wise is great since it closes to small town where I can get all of my necessities i.e.: gas station, attraction places ticket counters, local cafes etc. Room clean and tidy. It is just the shower room during our stay was out of shower gel. The communal space like dinning room and wash room are clean and well equipped. Parking space available on site. The checkin and checkout process is so easy even we reached there after their office hours.

The shower cubicle experienced clog during our stay.
