How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked everything! but what stood out the most was the hospitality of the owners. I know most of the hostels in the area, and none of them are like this one.

Verified reviewIncredible place. Incredible hosts. You can't stay any closer to the balcony walk than this. The homecooked meals were excellent and a ton of food as well, you won't go hungry here. There's only two rooms and we were lucky enough to get the whole place to ourselves. It's peaceful and tranquil, especially around sunset. Everything is clean and well cared for. Had no issues finding the place (google maps) and no issues checking in or anything. AC worked very well. Shower pressure was good. No issues whatsoever. Fantastic place run by very delightful and kind people
Nothing, everything was great.

Verified reviewThe privacy of the place and the view.
I would recommend to install a ceiling van, creates coolness with no need to put the AC

Verified reviewIt’s a lovely place just on the canyon jebel shams and right at the balcony walk. The room is clean with big windows . The terrace is amazing overlooking the canyon. The host Ali and his wife live just behind and are very kind. They make dinner and breakfast on request ans serve it either in the guest room in their home or on the terrace. We had so much fun chatting with Ali’s family in the evening. Lovely local people . Thanks

Verified reviewWow. What a place. If you are going to Jebel Shams and doing the Balcony walk, this is the place to stay. Fantastic views overlooking the stunning scenery. There are only 2 rooms so book ahead. Nicely designed units with large bathrooms and a great hot shower. There is a separate small kitchen shared by the 2 rooms with coffee/ tea facilities, a small fridge and a 2 ring cooker, which is a nice touch if you want to cook your own food. We had dinner and breakfast there. Simple delicious food.
Breakfast was a bit sparse.

Verified reviewWonderful!! Very nice host welcomed us with dates and coffee/tea. The place itself is great, with a spectacular view, very comfortable room, clean, nice bathroom, terrace. In the evening can see the stars from your bed. In the morning a nice sunrise. Also had breakfast and dinner which the family prepared for our, delicious local food. One thing if you go, a 4x4 car might help, we did not make it all the way in our small car, but you can ask to be picked up.

Verified reviewAli, Alia and their kids were very nice hosts. We ordered dinner and breakfast, which were served in their house behind the appartment in Omani style and were delicious. The guest house is stylish, comfortable with breathtaking view over the canyon. We did the balcony walk right after our afternoon arrival when most hikers were already returning. There was already shadow on the trail, which was great for the walking comfort but a little complication for photography.
Nothing. Just be aware it is better to use a 4x4 SUV (dirt mountain road), although we saw there normal cars as well.

Verified reviewWhen you arrive at the guesthouse late afternoon there is great opportunity to see a beautiful sunset After sunset the family cooks local dinner for you. This great hospitality absolutely adds to the full experience. If you gaze at the stars at night in total silence it feels like you found paradise on earth. If you set your alarm early enough you can watch sunrise out of your bed or from the private terras of this guesthouse The location is directly located next to the starting point of the balcony walk hike. Absolutely best location if you want to do this hike. Depending on the time you leave for your hike, you can drink coffee with the family before or after. Use the stay at this guesthouse to be absorbed in the friendly Omani culture and enjoy the hike day thereafter! Do not expect a lot from the village itself. You really plan your stay here to be absorbed in friendly culture and astonishing nature
The fridge did not smell nicely For us it took a little time to get the water temperature down of the shower. The family can support you with this

Verified review- The view is magnificent, fully pays off the price - facilities are decent, there is a kitchen with all the appliances and even barbeque - proximity to balcony trail, so possible to do the hike early morning when there are only a few people in track - friendly owner - mesmerizing starry sky in the nigh - possible to reach even with sedan, our Lexus coped pretty well, although with SUV the experience would be more ambient
Beds were rather stiff, we did not know about the barbeque facilities from the description so we were unprepared.

Verified reviewRooms were clean and the bed was firm. Meals available on request for 5 Riel. Hosts are very friendly and accomodating - we arrived a bit early and they had our room ready. The food was delicious. Parking available in a small courtyard. We did not see signage for the Guest House, but we asked a local and they easily pointed us in the right direction. We arrived at 2pm and had time to complete the Balcony Trail (which was mostly in the shade) before supper. Recommend to hike the Trail in the afternoon and then enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the private patio. Note: photos attached were all taken from the patio - amazing views!!!
There is a slight sulphur smell to the water, but we only used the water to shower with. We were provided with plenty of bottled water to drink.

Verified reviewVery interesting place at the end of the bumpy road just at the beginning of the balcony walk. 2 simple rooms with the stunning view! It’s really amazing for the sunrise and sunset. You can order a breakfast and dinner in the owner’s house.
