Room space was good and even the beach was great ......

Alila Hinu Bay by Hyatt is located in Mirbat, about 100+ km from Salalah Airport, in a very quiet and remote area. The room itself was fine, but unfortunately, the cleanliness was not up to standard. For example, the in-room cleaning was poorly done, and one of the drinking water bottles served from the all-day dining area contained a foreign particle. I even showed this to the restaurant team. The outdoor sofa was left wet during the rain, and the terrace had no shade, which meant we couldn’t enjoy sitting outside on the balcony. The in-room telephone also displayed the previous guest’s name instead of ours, and when I asked, I was told the PABX system was down, so it showed the wrong details for two days. Another disappointment was the lack of concierge service — every time we arrived at the reception, no one was available to assist with parking the car or taking us to the room. I raised these issues during my stay, and while the team took photos from my phone and assured me improvements would be made, I personally did not feel the experience was worth the money spent.

The food at the hotel was very mediocre. It was completely fine, but as a regular hotel patron, I was expecting something tastier and more impressive. The venue was very pretty though.

The hotel concierge service is extremely weak. They make little effort to organize excursions and seem to know very little about Oman. On our first night, we asked about visiting Wadi Mirbat the following day, only to be told that there was “nothing to see” and that Khareef season wasn’t in effect this year. He basically discouraged us from leaving the hotel altogether. While it’s true that last year’s Khareef was more lush, Wadi Mirbat was still absolutely worth visiting—beautiful and memorable. Unfortunately, his dismissive advice ruined our mood that first night, and we only enjoyed ourselves because we trusted our instincts and went anyway. Another major issue is pricing. While the rooms are reasonably affordable, cars and in-house services are outrageously expensive. For example, a trip from the hotel to Wadi Mirbat was quoted at 160–200 OMR, compared to just 15–30 OMR with a regular taxi. If you choose this hotel, enjoy the beautiful property, but avoid relying on their concierge or booking services. You’ll save money and have a much better experience exploring Oman on your own.

The design and location were stunning, and every detail seemed perfectly planned. The apartments felt very private, and having wildlife like camels, flamingos and cows around the hotel made the whole experience truly special. I hadn't mentioned in advance that I have a milk allergy, yet the staff went above and beyond to take care of me. They prepared separate dishes for me at the buffet dinner, and the chef even came out to make sure my food was completely dairy free. The spa was fantastic, and it was a real joy to use. We like to work out even when we travel, and both the gym and the spa (steam room, saund and plunge pool) were much better than we expected.

An absolutely stunning hotel, harmoniously integrated with Oman’s preserved natural landscape. Exceptional quality of service, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming attitude from the staff.

There is a lack of sports facilities. I would suggest upgrading the tennis amenities - adding padel courts is a must in 2025.

    Clean room

Remote location, creepy dark road to the hotel, no green all desert. Breakfast not that much. Wouldn't rate it a 5 star hotel.

    The complex itself was charming

We had several issues and it simply did not feel like a 5 star hotel. It felt like the hotel just opened recently and that they are still testing it. We had to ask twice for our room to be done as no one came to do it in the morning. The breakfast was very repetitive and not many options and only two restaurants to eat there. In one of the restaurants we ordered and waited so long while there was literally just us and another table and no one else. And at the end they messed up with the order and forgot one of the main courses. Each time we wanted to go from one place to another we had to either walk or were told to wait 15 minutes for a gulf car to take us as there were simply not enough of them for the whole complex. The first day we arrived with our rental car they lost the car key and took forever to find it when we wanted to get our car the next day. There is a kids club in the hotel that is supposed to stay open until 8pm and one day I took my son in the afternoon and we found the door closed and when we asked they could not find the key to open it. We had to wait for 20mn to get someone to open it. There were things that were broken in the room such as the bathtub tap. These might be small details but they can ruin the experience and when you pay such a price you don’t expect to get this kind of service.

Exceptional staff and service, very quite and relaxing stay. The design of letting each room as if its own mini house is great vs regular hotels. It's an amazing hotel if you are seeking a private and refreshing change.

It's a bit expensive but we don't regret it and should come back again on a later time, in sha Allah.

I highly recommend staying at Alila Hinu Bay. It was truly one of the best recreational places I’ve ever been to. The setting is wonderfully secluded, which was exactly what we needed to disconnect and fully relax. We stayed in the pool villa and made the most of our private pool, which had the perfect temperature all day long. Since swimming in the beach wasn’t possible during our stay, this was a huge plus. Important tip: if you’re planning to swim in the sea, be sure to research the best season before booking. We visited during Khareef, which is not ideal for swimming due to the weather, but we’ll definitely return in a different season to enjoy it. As for the location, I personally found it perfect. Contrary to some reviews, it didn’t feel far at all. Yes, it’s tucked away, but that’s part of its charm. Plus, it’s still relatively close.. about 48 minutes to some of the most popular attractions. The drive was scenic and relaxing, so the distance really didn’t matter. Now, on to the staff, which truly elevated the entire experience. Raed was incredibly responsive and helpful, even before our arrival. His warm and professional communication via email and in person made us feel well taken care of from start to finish. I also highly recommend arranging transportation with Zaki. He was one of the highlights of our trip, kind, respectful, and always made sure we were comfortable and happy. There was another gentleman from in-room dining, possibly named Rajish? I honestly forgot, whose service stood out. He ensured every meal arrived hot and fresh with a smile. I wish I could remember his full name, thank you, nonetheless! Special thanks to Florina, who created a custom drink called Rosa Lady (not on the menu), which was absolutely delicious and refreshing, definitely ask for it if you visit! Also, a big thank you to Surash (hope I got the name right), who led a memorable cottage cheese masterclass that we thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from. Amazing job!
