How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewStaff was very welcoming, hospitality was great. The place was very unique it. The room was very comfortable and clean we managed to sleep very well. Many parts of the old house was open to explore and you can see the history of the place. There is a gift shop on the ground floor which is handy for getting souvinirs. Our booking had breakfast included which as served from the cafe on the ground floor (handy for getting coffee to go as well). The location is great for our travels (next to Taqa castle and within walking distance from borj al asker). All in all, a very unique and highly-recommended experience.

Verified reviewA truly memorable stay at Koofan House. Such fantastic hospitality and personal attention from start to finish. The house is beautiful and well thought out for guests to be comfortable. My sleep restoration reached 99 by the end of the stay. The family ensured I had been able to organise a good itinerary for my trip and gave great local insight. A plentiful breakfast made a good start before sight seeing each day. It’s very well located. Thank you all for making a solo trip to Salalah so reassuringly easy.

Verified reviewKoofan heritage is a cozy stay filled with culture and heritage of Oman portrayed together - if you like the old ancient cultural buildings this is definetly your pick. And the hotel manager suheib Rahman I have no words to express the hospitality he provided during my stay-. He made sure everything was super comfortable for me . And he really made sure everything was perfect for his guest. He is a gem of the property . And on top of that his language skills are also perfect. They provided me to try their cultural Omani dresss and took for me many photoes even . It was and will be my best stay in salalah .

The property itself is one of a kind- set in a historic building turned museum and hotel, it was like being transported back in time. A true getaway.

Verified reviewKoofan heritage house is amazing! It was built in 1880 and it retains its traditional character. It is built of thick stone and decorated in traditional furniture. It has modern conveniences such as air conditioning and fully functioning plumbing but still retains an old feel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. However, if you are looking for luxury like a Hilton please don’t come here. It is for someone who wants a taste of the past. You eat a traditional breakfast in the morning across from the old fort and really get to know the employees. You get to meet the owner and feel like you are staying as a guest at his house.

I had the pleasure of staying at Koofan Heritage Hotel during my recent trip to Salalah, and I can confidently say it was one of the highlights of my journey. From the moment I stepped in, I felt immersed in the warmth of Omani culture and heritage. The atmosphere of the hotel is deeply authentic, and it offers a unique sense of peace and comfort that is hard to describe but impossible to forget. The quality of sleep was exceptional , the room was calm, the bed incredibly comfortable, and the natural surroundings made it feel like I was in a serene oasis away from the modern world. The subtle fragrance of natural materials like clay, Luban, wood, and stone gave the space a grounding and peaceful aroma that made me feel instantly at home. It’s rare to find a place where the building itself tells a story, and at Koofan, every wall, texture, and scent speaks of tradition and harmony with nature. A special thanks goes to Mr. Chouaib, whose hospitality, professionalism, and genuine kindness made my stay even more memorable. The entire staff was attentive and welcoming, but Mr. Chouaib truly stood out for his story telling with a personal touch and dedication. Without a doubt, I will reconsider Koofan Heritage Hotel for my next trip to Salalah. If you’re sick from star hotels experiences like myself! Go for it and thank me later!

Verified reviewWe recently spent three nights at Koofan Heritage Lodge, and honestly, we wish we could have stayed longer! If you're looking for an authentic place to truly feel the spirit of Oman, this is the perfect spot. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were part of a family. Everything at Koofan is done with heart and soul, and you can feel the passion the owner and staff have for sharing their culture. The owner has put so much care into making this a unique experience, a place that tells a story and makes sure every guest has the most wonderful stay in Oman. The breakfast was a genuine Omani experience, a perfect way to start our days. And the bed… it was heavenly! The comfort was exceptional. Koofan also has a wonderful cafe on-site. The coffee there is the best in all of Salalah, so good that we even came back after we checked out just to have one more cup! They also have a restaurant serving delicious traditional Omani food, a museum to learn more about the region's history, and a shop with beautiful local products. This isn't just a place to sleep; it’s a destination in itself. Koofan offers a truly unique and immersive experience that goes beyond a typical hotel stay. We're already planning our return trip!

Staff were exceptional and make sure you feel welcome, gave me a tour of the house which also doubles as a museum during the day. Coffee shop right next door where you can socialise with the locals. When I come back to Oman I will definitely stay again.

Verified reviewStaying in Koofan Heritage Lodge will take you back centuries as you will be immersed in Oman's authentic architecture, food and meet the friendly owner of the place and learn about the history of the place and about his ancestors. I highly recommend not only coming in for a visiting but staying here instead of a modern hotel to feel what the rich Oman's past has to offer. The Lodge houses a museum, and views over the old town of Taqa. The place is equipped with wifi, hot water and friendly customer service, hence you can enjoy all the comforts of the modern world, while enjoying an immersion into the past. This was the second time I stayed in Koofan Lodge, and will do so again if I visit Dhofar in the future.
