Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Super nice property in a quiet jungle paradise on Bastimentos Island. Very well maintained garden and guest cabins with everything available to enjoy nature like a snorkeling spot right in front, a jungle loop hiking trail and free use of good kayaks and SUP boards. A sloth was hanging out with her baby in a tree next to the restaurant and it is easy to spot the red frogs nearby, see amazing corals and fish in the snorkeling spot and other wildlife. The owners are extremely nice and the food was amazing every day.

United KingdomNothing. It was one of our faves out of 30 places we stayed in 5 months!
We had a perfect stay at Ataraxia. If you are looking for a quiet, home away from home in a beautiful remote location for down time and with activities only a stone’s throw away, stay here. It’s a tranquil retreat in the jungle where you can eat in their restaurant as if you are dining at home. Yoga deck looking out. Amazing front deck outside our room, which we loved sitting out on every afternoon/evening to read/relax. Comfy bed. Yummy food by chef Nati who is Panamanian. Amazing hosts Manon and Pierre who helped us with everything we needed and were so friendly and the perfect hosts. We had a fun filled time here. Activities every day on every other island. Also they have snorkels and kayaks for free we used. And then ‘home’ for evening time. Heaven. We adored this place.

GermanyWe loved our stay at Ataraxia! It was our second time in Bocas and this time our experience was so much better because of the beautiful jungle lodge we stayed in! The experience waking up in the jungle is a unique experience that we enjoyed so much! We would definitely recommend Ataraxia to anybody looking for the perfect combination of beach and jungle :)

Costa RicaWarning: this is NOT about Ataraxia, but about transport from Almirante to Colon Island. In bad weather conditions, boats are certainly not safe. Pasengeres are not required to wear a life jacket, the ones I saw were ragged, filthy, dirty, and greasy; straps are missing and so on. It would take two seconds a wave to turn one of those boats upside down; it would take a person more than that to grab and fasten a life jacket properly. Imagine in an emergency... i wish i had the pen of H. Hemingway to accurately describe how vulnerable I felt during a windy and rainy journey with my children from Almirante to Colón Island.
I would like to thank Pierre and his wife for all their attentions with us. Food was great and the facilities, away from towns were excellent to relax.

Dinner is optional at their place and the food was excellent both nights we ate there. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room. Kayaks are available and there is snorkeling right in front of the property. We were also fortunate to see a sloth waIk thru the garden. I would recommend staying at Ataraxia

SloveniaI had an absolutely amazing experience at Ataraxia Resort in Panama! From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, always greeting us with a warm smile and offering helpful recommendations for local attractions. The owners are incredibly attentive and truly care about providing a memorable experience for their guests. They were always willing to help with any requests and gave us great insights into the area. Their hospitality really made us feel at home. The environment is breathtaking. The resort is nestled in a stunning location, surrounded by lush nature and serene views that are perfect for relaxation. Whether it was lounging by the pool, enjoying the peaceful surroundings, or exploring the local beauty, every moment at Ataraxia was pure bliss. I can’t recommend this place enough! Absolutely amazing place to stay. It was so lovely to be so close to nature in the lodges in the forest. Really nice walks around the property and the owners are great. It is well worth booking to eat dinner each night at the property's own restaurant. The food is delicious and great value.

United KingdomNothing. It was lovely
The stunning lodge is set just back from the waterfront with several cabins high on the hillside overlooking the channel between Bastimentos and Isla Solarte, 2 km away. The view through the trees from our cabin (no 5) was stunning; it was easy to while away many hours watching birds (and sloths) from our huge veranda with the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. Our cabin was large, beautifully laid out, spotlessly clean and with a really comfortable bed. The restaurant is situated even higher up the slope, where it really felt like you were perched in the tree canopy. Breakfasts (included) were always beautifully presented. The optional dinners were a set menu (and had to be ordered earlier in the day); they were invariably delicious. Pierre and Manon, our hosts, were ever helpful, kind and knowledgeable. They did everything possible to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Jami, Nati and the other staff all went out of their way to look after us. Ataraxia is remote, which makes it so atmospheric. It is surrounded by jungle which abounds with birds, red poison dart frogs and, while we were there, several sloths. Really enjoyed kayaking along the mangroves. Thoroughly recommended and would love to return.

AustriaThis place is basically like paradise. The cabins are absolutely beautiful as is the entire property. The restaurant on top of the hill provides not only beatiful views, but also delicious food. The hosts are incredibly nice, like to chat with the guests and offer many great suggestions on what to see and where to eat in the area (every suggestion we've tried was excellent). We also used the provided kayaks to explore around the island. If you are visiting Bocas del Toro, I recommend Ataraxia with all my heart.

Ataraxia was amazing! The hosts were super attentive and very helpful. They always made time to answer our questions or to provide suggestions for where to eat or visit while in Bastimentos. We had a couple of dinners in the restaurant which was so special. The location of the restaurant is stunning and the food was super tasty. The experience is like having a private chef cook for you. IsraelIncredible and unique place, but it may not be for everyone. The owners are very kind and helpful, the area and the huts are amazing. Due to the nature of the place (pun intended) it comes with some challenges (remote place, bugs, geckos entering your room, taking a short hike to get to the dining area, jungle noises at night...) but I couldn't list them as negative things since it's a part of the experience. Make sure you read the description carefully and especially the message sent by the place after booking to avoid surprises!

SloveniaAre you kidding? We had a blast!
Wow, this accommodation blew us away! Pierre and Manon who are running this property with a lot of LOVE are incredible people worthy of admiration! They bought a house with a good amount of land around it and have constructed several cabins, a yoga deck, a restaurant and a boat house over the last few years. Ataraxia has its own pier, so boatmen will easily take you there from Isla Colon. At the back of the property, there is a nature reserve, a jungle with so many treasures! We were able to spot the red frogs, caimans, a racoon, yellowtail birds, giant turquoise butterflies, turtles, giant ants, we rented a free kayak and paddled through the mangroves nearby, and we walked on several occasions to Old Bank, the main village on Isla Bastimentos, and once to Wizzard Beach. Manon also booked us a trip to Zapatilla (including sloth, dolphin and starfish spotting and snorkeling) and Pierre arranged our transportation to the airport. Several ideas for activities in the area conveniently presented in a booklet in the room (Zapatilla trip, Wizzard Beach hike, Red Frog & Polo Beach, bio-luminescence tour, etc.). Free kayaks and snorkeling gear available. If you are into botany and medicinal plants, you will have a lot to talk about with Pierre who planted so many of them around the property. Running a guesthouse in the middle of the jungle is a hard task, yet the couple somehow manage it and always keep smiling and interacting with guests at all times. Thank you very much, we will never forget our stay with you! You are a true inspiration! Be aware that: there is no hot water or AC and you cannot use a hairdrier, as the place runs on solar energy. There is wifi. Rooms are cleaned daily and are very spacious. Cold drinks available in the common fridge and option to have dinner. Tasty and creative breakfast included.

United KingdomNothing really stands out, other than the rain which you can’t control it was great.
The hosts Pierre and Manon are top class offering ideas for tours and things to do, they help with booking water taxis and made the stay there very easy. The breakfast is nice and the setting amongst the forest is good to spot wildlife. Bit of an effort to go up the hill for breakfast/ dinner but it’s worth it. The free use of the kayaks and paddle boards is a good option if the sea is calm. Loved our bungalow and chilling in the hammock was really relaxing. Definitely look into a water taxi to Chirkiwa grande when you leave if you are heading across Panama the scenery is something else on a sunny day. Thanks for the stay guys your place is pretty special

BelgiumManon and Pierre were absolutely great hosts. They have created a beautiful oasis to enjoy nature, surrounded by jungle and close to really nice beaches. The breakfast was tasty every time as well as the dinner! They offer a vegetarian alternative each time which was perfect for us. It is served at the best spot as well. On a deck with an amazing view! The cabin was perfect and clean: beautiful bathroom and comfortable bed! The noises of the jungle were the cherry on the cake. We could also use kayaks from them for free so we were able to explore the surroundings in a very cool way: a must do! This review is long overdue but allows us to reminisce about our stay!
