How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We didn’t enjoy our stay here. The rooms smelt really musty and our clothes smelt. the rooms needed to be cleaned better, they were dusty and not clean under the beds or wardrobe. The location is not the best, not really near anywhere, on quite a busy road. You had to get a taxi everywhere. The kitchen was out of action. So unable to cook food. We read reviews saying they used the kitchen and saw in the welcome guide you could use the shared kitchen but it wasn’t working. Only the microwave. So made it difficult to feed the children If using a credit card you need to pay an extra 5% It just felt a bit odd the place, they are building more huts, and maybe when they are fully operational it would feel better.
The kitchen has never been part of our official offer, although it will probably be made available in the future. At the moment, only the fridge, microwave, and coffee machine are offered as free bonuses. The lodge is new (Dec. 2024), clean, air-conditioned, and mold-free (any humidity comes simply from the tropical Caribbean climate). The location is quiet as it is not directly on the road, and strategically placed to explore the whole island: town center $1 taxi ride (under 10 minutes), restaurants and beach within 5 minutes on foot, scooters and rentals available. Payment is normally due at check-in, but you postponed it every day until departure, which we accepted without issue. We usually charge a 5% fee for credit card payments (which corresponds to the banking operator’s fee), but in your case we did not apply this 5% on the portion paid by card. During the stay, the only inconveniences were solved immediately: the key broken in the lock which required replacing it, in one cabin the hot water was available after a few seconds (confirmed after verification), and in the other the gas tank was replaced right away. This review does not reflect the reality of your stay, as most of the points mentioned are factually inaccurate and were never raised during your time with us.

Verified reviewEverything about Bamboo Lodge was superb. Our room was spacious, new and furnished to a high standard, with a hot shower, air con and a big comfy bed. The pool is excellent and the poolside area is a lovely place to relax with a drink. Stefan and Julie were incredibly accomodating hosts, super friendly and with good recommendations for the area. The location is a bit outside town (it's easy enough to walk and taxis aren't expensive) and this makes it very peaceful. But there are good places to eat and drink nearby - the Sicilian restaurant a few doors down is great and the Pipa beach bar round the corner is also very nice.
Nothing. If you are desperate to be within walking distance of the bars etc in the town then there are more suitable options, but otherwise it's perfect.

Verified reviewStefan and Julie have created a beautiful jungle oasis just 10 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Bocas town and on a walking distance of some of the nicest beaches and beach restaurants. The friendly hospitality offered by the owners makes one feel at home. The value for money of this small bungalow resort is much better versus what you can get in the town center and on top of that you will have a great night sleep because there is no noise of "nightlife". If you want to join the party atmosphere though it is only a 2 dollar taxi ride away. Did I mention the pool?......

Verified reviewWe enjoyed visiting this modern and newly finished accommodation. It was in a perfect location between town and the local surf spots. Connected by a newly paved road, with a gated system, it was easy for us to nip around on our bike and park it safely overnight. The hosts were so very accommodating, very fast to reply to any request we had and a pleasure to deal with. The accommodation itself was very private and quiet, you occassionally hear the road but mostly hear the lovely sounds of nature. The rooms are very clean, with all new fittings. The air-conditioning was a welcomed addition on the more humid days. The large pool and outdoor kitchen were impressive, and we enjoyed these to ourselves. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Whilst there is no security issue, we thought the pvc door lock on our cabin could be improved to give an extra sense of safety when leaving belongings in the rooms. This being said, the property is fenced with a private gate, so there was no huge concern.

Verified reviewHad a great stay here. The owner sent an information brochure in advance about the accomodation and the island, really super! If you worry its far from the center…don’t. Its a bit over 10 minutes by taxi and only costs 2 dollars. In return you get an accomodation thats brand new and clean, including a nice bar/kitchen at the pool! The town Bocas itself is a bit messy in Jan 2025 with open roads/construction and a lot of dirt and water so it was a blessing to stay here. The bungalow itself has everything you need: good shower and bed, AC, etc. and is nicely decorated. Certainly recommend this place!

The kitchen is a dream for anyone who loves cooking, fully equipped for all your needs. The room is perfect: super comfortable, with all the amenities and filled with thoughtful little details that make the stay truly unforgettable. We highly recommend this place!

Verified reviewIn one word: wow! It's a little jewel hidden under a huge bamboo tree! The place is incredible, the room very comfortable, and the whole team really friendly and attentive. The place is brand new, the rooms too and you can feel that the owners have put all their heart into the construction, every detail has been chosen with great taste. I'll be back without hesitation and I recommend it 200%!
