How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe staff is awesome. Super friendly permanent staff who remembers your name everyday immediately after you check in. Cheri is the best and with. Warm heart and smile. Mathilde and Piedro on the staff were super fun and made the hike excursion memorable and thrilling. You can meet fellow travelers very easily in the pool and the deck area and then everyone eats together at the same time up at the common dining area. Then you can stay to converse or participate in their nightly themed events. If you want to read a book and relax in solitude, you will a spot for you as well.
No A/c in my room. But everyone gets personal fans over their beds which worked out fine.

Verified reviewBambuda Lodge was a great place to go and relax for a couple of days. The room was incredibly comfortable, even though there was no air conditioning, every bed had 2 fans, and that was plenty to keep you fresh at night. The place is super quiet at night as well, so you can rest peacefully, as there are no closed windows in the rooms, only insect nets. You wake up with the sounds of the jungle, and that is priceless. The pool, the restaurant and the views were amazing too. Would definitely recommend.
We got a lot of insect bites due to its location, but that is not the property´s fault.

Verified reviewBambuda Lodge is a fantastic place to stay. A special shoutout to Sheri for making the meanest and most delicious cocktails, she is a gem. The staff not only organizes tours but also makes it very easy for solo travelers to connect by hosting social events. When I visited, it was more on the younger and social side compared to some other Bambuda locations. The views are stunning, but what really struck me was the beauty of the jungle huts, which give a high-quality hotel feel right in the middle of nature. Volunteers make sure you are entertained and always have activities to join. Highly recommend and a million thanks to the Bambuda Lodge teams for making this a beautiful stay!

Verified reviewThis place is exceptional in every way: the staff, the food, location, everything. They do a "jungle hike" daily led by the volunteers, and there's a giant water slide that's also super fun. The best part, though, is the food. They have a chef that creates incredible meals for a very reasonable price. Special thank you to staff members Melanie, Francisco, Dani and Sebastian; volunteers Selina and Justine for leading our jungle hike, and Elion for his great service and conversations. (Apologies for misspellings)
Keep in mind this is an ecolodge, so it doesn't have AC. That may be a deal breaker for some, especially depending on the time of year you visit.

Verified reviewAbsolutely stunning location! The pool and deck area were the perfect spots to relax and unwind. We especially loved having access to stand-up paddle boards and kayaks which was such a huge bonus, especially since the property is a bit more secluded from the rest of Bocas. Having these complimentary activities made a big difference. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming - a special shoutout to Melanie (mi amor), Shary, and Sebastian, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We absolutely loved it!
Bit of construction happening as outlined when booking - didn’t cause too much disturbance and I know it will make the property even more lovely when finished.

A bit noisy at times due to ongoing building work but they offered free canoe and paddleboard us to counteract this :)

Verified reviewI liked the showers in the bathroom and the pool area. Other than that, it’s super low key and WiFi is super spotty. The jungle lodge room was nice albeit quite dark to get into.
The property was under construction so it’s something that, had I known, I may have chosen elsewhere. Check in takes a long time since the lodge doesn’t have employees but rather volunteers. I was ignored for the first 15 minutes and then the guy just started working with another couple that wasn’t in front of me. You don’t get any real action on anything unless you specifically ask. They had a tour link via the hotel but no real way to know how it works. It’s hot as heck in the rooms at night, even with a ceiling fan. Be prepared for basically a backpackers stay and construction.

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful in the middle of the forest. Lots of animals. The staff was incredible, especially a volunteer named Lucas.
We were there in the middle of the summer so it was quite hot and humid. If they had an AC option, it would be perfect. The portions of food they served are also on the smaller side. So if you are a larger person or eat a lot it will be tough to become full.

Verified reviewThe view was the highlight of course The breakfast was nice and the volunteers team were all nicely communicative and inclusive of everyone.
The jungle cabin is very small if you have a big luggage and the fact there they was not enough place to store your clothes or belongings made it harder to feel comfortable. When it was heavily raining, the rain got into the room which was of course not ideal to take care of in the night! The cabin didn’t have shutters so the room was very humid the whole time and you can expect your whole belongings getting damp. The dinner menu was nice and varied but the portions were quite small and you couldn’t order any food after 6pm Most of the lights weren’t working on the deck that leads to the cabin which felt dangerous at night when it rained.

Verified review- Easily the most beautiful views in Bocas, you really can't match the vibe. For backpackers, I totally understand it feeling more like a resort! - The beds are really really comfortable, you get up to 3 private fans which are so helpful and they have curtains and double pillows. All these touches are really appreciated. - A pool feels like such a luxury! And for the first time, pleeeenty of sunbeds and space for everyone to chill by it. Clearly prepared :) - Towels are provided!!!!! What a win. - Free filtered water. I also want to leave a huuuuuuge thank you to Melanie at the reception. She went above and beyond changing me into a different room after I exposed many issues with the first one, especially with the noise, on my first night. This changed my experience significantly and I was able to feel much better about my stay. Not only that, her energy was always amazing, so smily and friendly, I loved seeing her every time. In general, the hired staff is all incredibly nice.
Summary: overpriced. I really wanted to like it more. But when the negatives start to pile up it becomes annoying. I changed dorms, most of this is about the 1st one. - NOT THE PRICE DISPLAYED ON BOOKING! they tried to overcharge me for my stay, charging me 90 something dollars when it says 70 something. Thankfully the receptionist (Yani i believe her name was) was very comprehensive and helpful in communicating the problem to the manager and was able to give me the correct one (still more than displayed with taxes, but this is common in Panama). The fact that this is a discounted price of their normal one because of the construction adds to how overpriced this is. -Room has no actual windows, just mosquito nets which you can’t cover or close so the noise and light wake you up. No privacy... at least the beds by the windows should have a curtain so people don’t see me sleep from outside the room! -Very hot room. It’s wild to me that a hostel that charges almost/over 30 dollars a night does not have AC. Fans helped. -Stained blanket and towels. Communicated to staff and they changed it. -Pee smell in bathroom. -Water in shower leaking significantly, entire bathroom wet. - Need bigger lockers so everyone’s things are not all over + for security, since the rooms don’t have keys. - Wifi is pretty bad - Food is pretty meh and definitely overpriced. Undercooked fries and dinner options reaching 18 dollars? Everyone just went for the cheapest lol. You also can't eat anything between 4 and 7:30. - Pool water was weird, stained the tiles and the floaties which felt really sticky and actually stained my hand and bikini also from the grime. - The construction is actually SUCH a nuisance if you're in the rooms next to it. Sure, I knew about it, but didn't expect it to be this bad. My first bed was right in front of it, again, no window, and it was super loud. Starts at 9 on the dot. Could delay so people get more rest. - Volunteers are kind of meh lol.

Since the hostel is only accessible by water taxi ($5, 10min.), you are kind of forced to eat & drink there. This can be a positive thing as well, since you get to know the other guests even more.

Most of the volunteers were so professional, and went above and beyond. One young lady volunteer was quite loud, spouting racist theories by the pool, it made our International group quite uncomfortable. She then proceeded to trash the lodge, and her accomodations. I know this does NOT represent the lodge, I felt they should know.

Verified reviewThe pool, bar, and restaurant were great at the hotel! The staff was amazing, however the volunteers were not great. Our tour guide ended up losing everyone on the nature walk- not sure where he went. The walk in itself was great, and my boyfriend was able to help everyone who got stuck in the mud, but it was kind of crazy that our guide never helped. Overall I would stay here again, but for a similar price we ended up staying at eclypse Del Mar, and it was a bit nicer. If you’re looking for a more social atmosphere I would recommend bambuda though. The construction was also not an issue whatsoever.
The volunteers all signed up together and know eachother from their home in France. I thought that this made them a little less into helping the guests and more into hanging out with eachother. Though the permanent staff was great!

Verified reviewOur private jungle bungalow was adorable. Since it was also a hostel I was impressed that the cleaning service replaced our towels with fresh ones. The hike to the beach was so fun and very cool that it is included in your stay including the water taxi back! Our guide on the hike Alban was very helpful and kind throughout the excursion! The people who served us breakfast every morning were very attentive and kind , I believe their names were Evan and Romeo, and Pierre. WE joined the welcome drink and trivia afterwards. Trivia was so fun and Emma and Maya did a great job with both leading the trivia and taking care of us for dinner! I lost a toenail while there and Jami was so kind in helping me with the first aid kit and everything I needed to clean up my wound! The food was always great! An overall amazing stay!
