How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is tucked away off of the main road, directly across from a two local restaurants. The lodges are tucked in amoung manicured palms that create thick privacy fencing along the side of each. The kitchen is open, but has a roof over it and the entire seating area, which includes a table with bench seating, and a lounging, built-in couch area, which was wide enough for two people to lay on next to each other comfortably. There are bowls, plates, servingware, pans with lids, soap for dishwashing, a sink for washing, and sponge. There is a coffee pot that cooks over the gas stove, and some seasonings that appeared to be left by previous guests. There are outlets for electricity out on the porch, a small water hose and a working fan. There was one blind that rolled down for privacy. The bedroom and adjoining bathroom are enclosed behind a locking door. Inside there are built in bench seating along one wall, wooden shutters that open and close, and light weight gauze curtains that allow for privacy and natural light to enter the room if the window shutters are tilted open. There is A/C that stays cold and plenty of pressurized hot water in the sink and shower. There are places to put your belongings and hangers inside an open closet area. There are lights for both bathroom and bedroom seperately, as well as side lamps for each side of the bed on separate switches. There are plenty of electrical outlets throughout the room which include ports for phone and tablet charging. Each lodge includes its own small enclosed front yard. There is a common aread with a picnic table and BBQ, as well as filter water for guests to use during there stay. The property is behind a chained high fence and a secure wooden gate with latch. The property managers live on site and are easily reachable via whatsapp. They also provide a number to secure a taxi for picking you up to whereever you need to go. The internet was fast and worked well.
At 6am the howler monkeys were in full chorus, which was unexpected. They were extremely loud for about 30-45 mins, it sounded as if they were out on the porch at one point (such is how loud and close they were). The bathroom does not have a door to close it off from the bedroom, though the toilet and shower are set far enough in for some privacy. The yard is enclosed by trees along the sides, but the entrance has no gate and people walking by can see straight in, so if you are in the kitchen you can be seen from the entry to your yard. The side of the yard with the couch does not have thick enough plants along the side, and one blind seemed to be missing, so you can be seen from that side if the neighbors pull in to their driveway. There was some kind of construction or yard work going on nearby, and surprisingly going on during the weekend. The driveway to the house next door, is along the side of the unit we stayed in, when the occupant returns in their pick up truck with music on, you will hear it and the motor.

Verified reviewThe location and the room were great. Daniella was fantastic and very helpful. She really cares about her guests and goes above and beyond for their comfort. Thank you Daniella!
If you don’t like howling monkeys you may not like them howling in the morning.

Verified reviewAbsolutely loved our stay. The property and rooms are beautifully designed with comfort, privacy, and an appreciation for nature in mind. The outdoor patio and kitchen give you the feeling of staying in a small home. The location is tucked away just off the main street and is quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town, while still being easily accessible by motorbike. If you love surfing, Bluff and Paunch are close by. We're definitely planning on staying here when we return to Bocas :) *Tip: It's 100% worth it to have your own motor transportation instead of relying on taxis or bicycles (even e-bikes). You can rent a motorbike down the street at Skullys!
We work remotely so we often used the big table on the patio as our desk. We would have loved a fan to help keep us cool and to blow the bugs away! :)

Verified reviewGreat hosts Flo and Pierre! They have build such a beautiful place with complete wooden lodges. Very spacious both inside and outside, built with a great eye for details. Complete kitchen outside which we used in the evenings after having lunch on the beach. Top seating area outside with lovely view at the fantastic garden. Hauling monkeys nearby and many birds. Really loved the area, outside the busy town and on the way to Paunch and Bluff beach. We rented their bikes, good quality, Flo helped us a great deal as we got stuck in a roadblock and Flo informed Avis we were getting in late to return our car. The guy was really waiting for us after office hours. Definitely go there!
We only missed wine glasses but really can't think of anything else

Verified reviewBeautiful with all the surrounding plants making it feel very private.
The A/C didn’t work correctly during our stay. They tried to fix it, but couldn’t get it to work correctly, it turned off during the night and wouldn’t come back on until morning.

Verified reviewits a very nicely designed lodge, and the quality of material used was nice.
My partner and I did get flea and mosquito bites while staying at this lodge. There are no windows, and there are only blinds to keep the mosquitos out, but the AC did help.

Verified reviewIn a word, everything. the design of the lodge is brilliant. The property owned by two brothers, one is the architect, the other the builder. Perfect for relaxing on the outdoor chaise whether it is is sunny or raining, the outdoor kitchen, the natural light in the bathroom, awesome shower. The bedding, towels, pillows all excellent quality. The host Flo was beyond accommodating to our every question or request. The property is almost invisible from the road so no passers by invading the property - you feel like you are in your own little lodge in the forest. Wake-up to howler monkeys, toucans, sounds of the birds. The location, walking distance to Ciao Pizza, Scully’s bar and restaurant, the Lazy Pirate where we rented ATVs - so quiet and relaxing and away from the town. Taxi to town (if you want to go there) is 3$.

Verified reviewWe loved our stay in Bocas Garden Lodges :) The location was perfect for us; we wanted to be a little further away from the center to have peace and tranquility, but still close enough to so it would be easy to move around. We stayed for 6 nights and rented a scooter for our whole stay (scooter was 35dollars/day). With the scooter we moved around the island really easily, it was a 10minute ride from the center. You can also rent bikes from the property or move around with taxi(3 dollars/person). The lodges were nicely decorated and there was enough room to feel comfortable. There is no door to the bathroom, but this didn't bother us. The outdoor kitchen and lodging area was our favorite! It was nice to cook and have breakfast outdoors in the nature. The kitchen was missing a few things (like salt and oil), but we got it from the supermarket. The lodge is new, so I guess with more time there will be more stuff in the kitchen for the guests to use. We met one of the brothers, Flo. He was super nice and friendly and was always for our help if we needed something. Felt like we got a new friend when staying there :) Thank you so much for everything, hopefully we meet again!

Verified reviewForget the luxury hotels in Bocas! These adorable cabanas are way better. The two brothers Florian and Pierre designed and built the bungalows themselves and furnished them with great attention to detail. The huts are located in the middle of a wonderfully designed plant world. Besides, the guys are really nice. The complex is perfectly maintained and has a great style. You immediately feel at home here.

Verified reviewThe accommodation is beautiful and the lodge really feels like part of the jungle it's surrounded by. Although it's far enough from Bocas Town to be peaceful, there are still enough options for food and drink to keep things varied. The lodge comes with an outdoor kitchen area, which makes for a great place to have breakfast or to lounge and take in the surrounding nature. There's also a communal area with a large table and barbecue for communal meals if you prefer. A really nice, three minute walk away there are also a couple of options for eating out, including Ciao Pizza (serving Neapolitan style pizza in the jungle) and Skully's bar/restaurant/quad bike hire/local institution. The lodge will even let you hire a bike for the day if you want to venture further afield. Our host, Flo, was really helpful. He went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lodge, island or host to anyone. :)
One thing that might put people off is that any time you want to go into Bocas Town, you're going to need to get a taxi. There is no water taxi dock/jetty nearby, so you'll need to do this for pretty much everything, including: - shopping for provisions - eating out (other than at the local places) - visiting other islands - going on excursions There are no buses or taxi ranks on the island, so it's a case of walking and waiting for one to come along with room for you in it. NOTE!!! Taxi drivers don't always know where the lodge is if you mention it by name. Instead, just tell them to take you to Skully's (everyone in Bocas seems to know where that is) and walk from there. Or, if you're just landing and have your suitcases, just tell them it's the left turn just before Skully's/Ciao pizza.

Verified reviewThe cabin was brand new and very well designed with beautiful view of the jungle. It turned out that one of the hosts is an architect. You can tell! He is also very nice and friendly. You can rent bikes at the property to explore the area. An easy ride to town, not far from the famous Bluff beach. We had a great time and would stay there again!
It did not have a door between the bedroom and the bathroom. But that has an easy solution.

Verified reviewStaying here was such a wonderful experience. This is a truly magical spot. This is one of the nicest places I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. The cabañas have been very thoughtfully designed by Pierre and his family, who are architects/design professionals. Our cabaña was absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, had AC that worked well, and also had beautiful views of the jungle, as well as a very well-appointed kitchen. We enjoyed watching birds and monkeys every morning and evening. Pierre was exceptionally kind to us and treated us like family.
Everything was excellent!

Verified reviewGreat place to stay! The lodge includes everything you need: nice bathroom and bedroom inside, and outside a well-equipped kitchen and multiple places to eat and relax. There is even a nice bbq which you can use. We really liked the location, being not in the middle of the more crowded Bocas Town, but a little further on the island where the setting is more relaxed. At the lodge it was possible to rent bikes, which is great to increase the flexibility if you don’t want to take a taxi all the time. With the bikes it takes only 15 minutes to be in Bocas Town and it was safe to cycle on the road (even at night, although it could get dark on parts of the road). Finally, the host Pierrot is a kind, tranquilo and flexible guy, who was always available for any questions.
The accommodation is relatively new, so it can be a little difficult to find when arriving in Bocas for the first time, as there where not yet any signs on the road or closer to the lodge. However, as we understood the host is working on it. No other needs for improvement, as we really liked the stay over here :)
