How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe staff were friendly, informative and kind in every interaction. The food and drinks were amazing. The room was beautiful and exactly as advertised. The bed was comfortable.
The water pressure in the bathroom could have been better. When we checked in there was some hair in the shower and an old hair scrunchee that had been left behind. We also could have used a drying rack in the room for our wet things.

Verified reviewEverything was newly renovated, air conditioning in the rooms which was essential. Staff were friendly and very accomodating to all inquiries. The food was exceptional - honestly would stay here again every time I am in Bocas Town.

Verified reviewI really liked the air con in all of the rooms. I had a premium 4 bed dorm with a balcony. The view was great. They clean everyday which is dope, but was strange that they made my bed everyday too (they kept moving my things)... I also loved the Saturday Sunset Sessions with house music from 3-9pm
I don't like that they got rid of the communal kitchen. This used to be a hostel, but is going more towards a hotel now. There were lots of families staying there. I also thought the staff were not very nice. Although most of the servers were great, I saw pretty bad hygiene practices from one waitress in particular on several occasions and very few of the hostel staff were helpful (though there were 2 women who were REALLY helpful behind the desk).

Verified reviewGreat location, walking distance to everything but removed from the main boat areas. Good WiFi to work remote. Morning yoga was also good. Comfortable rooms and beds. Fun vibes downstairs although the deck could benefit from a few more sun beds/comfortable lounge seats.
There was construction outside which was quite loud and would start early but that’s not really their fault. The walls are also quite thin so you’d hear people in the hallways.

I walked from the info center in town. It would be nice to have a water taxi to bring people to the property. I also don’t like the name has Bocas Town in it. I wanted Bocas Town hotel and chose this instead. I was upset at first, but you exceeded my expectations.

Verified reviewI really enjoyed my stay at Bambudas! The location is incredible - it’s right on the beach, so you can literally step out and be at the sea. The menu is great, with tasty food and really good cocktails. Almost every night there was live music, which created such a fun and chill atmosphere. The restaurant staff were so nice and welcoming - they really added to the good vibes.
One downside is that there’s no common area for hostel guests, which makes it hard to connect with other travelers. You don’t really know who’s staying at the hostel and who’s just visiting the restaurant. Also, I’m not sure if it was worth the price - over $40 a night for a 9-bed dorm felt a bit steep, especially since there was no fridge or kitchen available. The value-for-money just didn’t feel quite right. There was also loud construction going on during my stay, and the view from the window was just a big construction site. The bathrooms were okay, but the shower door didn’t close properly, and the sink had a weird smell.

Verified reviewThe place is the best hostel/hotel I ever stayed in Central America. Good organized, bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Chiara und Suly where super nice and also the people from the restaurant where they also had very good food and cocktails.
