How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe location was great! It was convenient to town yet quiet! The daily breakfast choices were freshly cooked and tasted terrific! The beds were very comfortable, the shower was strong and hot, ac worked well and the hosts were friendly and very accommodating! We would definitely stay again!

Verified reviewKarsten and Britta were wonderful hosts. They have thought of everything! The room and facilities have everything you need, whether you knew it or not! The room was great with a private patio in nature. It was great to NOT be in the main area of Boca Del Toro and way to get a taxi for $2-3. Quiet and serene.

Verified reviewBritta and Karsten are wonderful hosts. They are warm, attentive and do everything they can to make you feel at home. The room is very cozy and equipped with everything you rarely find in Latin America: a shower with hot water, a hairdryer, a huge bathroom and a memory mattress/pillows. There is a large selection for breakfast. It is very rich and delicious and is served on the private terrace. For us the accommodation has the best location on the island in a very quiet street and still close to the beach. You can get into town by cab for 2$ per person.

Verified reviewKarsten & Britta were the most helpful in all aspects including information on getting around the island as well as visiting other spots. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great time. The breakfasts were spectacular. I was able to rent a bike from them to visit Playa Bluff, and they also gave recommendations on taxi drivers and prices on the island. The B&B is a 10min taxi ride from bocas town and you can swim at a spot on the beach right across the road from the B&B. I had a really enjoyble stay and felt like the space was my home. I would 100% recommend for everyone.

Verified reviewCarsten and Britta are very friendly and helpful. They offer several choices for breakfast: everything is fresh and of excellent quality. The room had a small deck outside where you can sit and watch the hummingbirds and listen for howler monkeys. The place is in a quiet location, about 10 minutes by bus or taxi ($2 to $3) from the centre of town and about five minutes walk to a nice swimming beach. Buses and taxis often pass the end of the street, so it's very easy to get into town or out to Bluff Point. They offer bicycles for hire at a good price and even have. well-stocked bar! We've travelled widely and I can only think of one other B and B to match it. Highly recommended.👍

Verified reviewA lovely German couple run this place and they are extremely helpful. You get use of a bike which is vital because accommodation is far from town.
I chose wrong, as a solo traveller,this place was too far out for me. It did have a swimable beach not far away but although taxis were cheap I didn't fancy going into town by myself. The property only has 2 rooms and I didn't see the other guest. Breakfast is served outside the room on a patio but there's not much garden to look at here.
It is a pity that you obviously made the wrong choice ,regarding accommodation, for yourself. Both in the description on booking.com and google maps it is evident that we are not located in the city. That is why we provide free bikes! In addition, you liked that the beach is only about 100mtr away and you swam here. In the city you would not have had the opportunity! Likewise, you would not have had the nature there, which surrounds our property. As an absolute insult we feel that you have given the staff (ie my wife and I) 7.5 points. We booked the boat trip for you and rebooked because of the weather. We helped you book with the right agency the transfer to Panama City. We got up at 5:00am on your departure day to prepare breakfast for you. And we organized a cab for you at 5.45am (which is not easy in general), which drove you to the agency. Verified reviewOh my gosh!!! Karsten and Britta are the BEST hosts! Our room and ensuite were perfect. We stayed 4 nights. Every morning we were served fresh coffee and great made to order breakfast! K and B had great ideas for excursions and restaurants! (they set us up with several which made it so seamless!) If Karsten or Britta recommend something, it's a good seal of approval!!!
