How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was great! Chill area next to a beach!
Staff didn't speak English at all. No advise or recommendations from the staff, he just sat there all day on his phone! They didn't accept card and it was on the booking description they accepted card and when we paid in cash they didn't even have change for $5. The tent was dirty and lacked basic things like a power cable and a fan as it was very hot! These things I would be happy to go without if it was a bit cheaper. The showers were gross, toilettes were ok. Quite disappointed for a tent thats thrown on the floor of what looks like a shed. The tents are squashed right next to each other so you dont even have any personal space Overall disappointed and have the impression the owners are trying to make as much money as they can and provide as little as they can.

Verified reviewThe hostal has a great location: in one direction is Bluff Beach, in another one is Starfish Beach. The Istmito Beach was dirty and had a lot of seaweed.
There were noisy neighbors with loud music at a later night. Also, there is a commercial building construction nearby. They are working even on Sunday.

Verified reviewthe price was by far the best on the island, but facilities were excellent anyway! bathrooms great, kitchen well equipped and decent size, friendly staff
the place was a long walk out of town and sometimes it was tricky to get a bus/taxi but not enough to make it a problem. the ‘free bikes’ info must be old because they property didn’t have any to use, although you can rent them from next door

Verified reviewThe hostel include the camp tent, so you do not need carry your tent or sleeping bag
1) The hostel is locate to 3.5 km from the center in a region without access to supermarkets, hospitals, etc. You are forced to pay $1 travel to the center each time you need buy food. 2) The kitchen and livinroom is inhabited by 3 cats that catch your food everytime you move from the table...It is a very stressful situatiion. 3) -The hostel do not accept credict cards, only money 4) The hostel rules are not obey by some people. Some travelers smoke in the kitchet even when it iis not allowed, and some couples remains speaking all the night.

Verified reviewThe hostel was super cheap which was great for travellers (like us) who are on a budget. The option to rent a fan was great too although it actually wasn’t too hot at night. Loved the outside shower! It’s a little bit further out of town but only $1 for a taxi so not bad at all.
The kitchen was honestly pretty dirty and could have been a bit better equipped but for the price we paid can’t really complain too much!

Verified reviewNice guy on reception let us pay later as we didn't have cash on arrival. The mattress in the tent was surprisingly comfy. Plenty of places to charge your phone. Decent communal area to chill. Overall it was fine for one night.
I think $20 for a tent inside is a bit of a rip-off, to be honest. You don't get the fun parts of staying in a tent like waking up outside. The kitchen was pretty dirty and poorly equipped. It would take someone 5 minutes to clean the surfaces to prevent the flies hovering around and put stuff away.

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed everything. The staff and environment were lovely. Very relaxing.
There was quite a bit of construction in the area. We would have liked if there were proper dish clothes and tea towels in the kitchen. It would be nice if there was designated smoking area with a bench or chairs.

Verified reviewCheap for its proximity to Bocas, with the taxi only being $1 into town. The room was comfortable and staff were happy to help with any questions
room can be a little loud due to the number of tents staying on the roof above the room. Also, the communal areas were only adequately clean

Verified reviewI really liked the eco conscious focus of this hostel, you could tell right away they are mindful about being resourceful. They're also the most affordable hostel in Bocas that I could find, if you're investment focus is purely price. I do feel that they could work on answering phone calls, doorbell rings/knocks, whatsapp text alittle more efficiently and timely. Just so you're not waiting outside for 25 minutes like I did, lol.
Already stated that in what I liked, (the last 2 sentences).
