How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHostal Casa Pedro in Boquete is a simple but charming and very affordable place to stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast—available for an extra $5—is tasty and well worth it. The owners, Pedro and Marilin, are incredibly friendly and helpful, offering local tips and warm hospitality throughout our stay. The setting is peaceful and scenic, with views of the surrounding hills and a lovely garden with homegrown produce and fresh eggs. It’s a bit removed from downtown Boquete, so having a car is definitely recommended. For travelers seeking a quiet, budget-friendly stay with personal touches, this place is a great option.

Verified reviewMy room was cozy and clean. It was great that I had a fridge there. Pedro and Marilin were nice and helpful (some things come at an additional charge). Lovely views all around, picturesque serene location, although a little further from Boquete (cca 45-60 min on foot). Ok internet.
My room was separated just by a door from the hosts' living room/kitchen which was a little uncomfortable due to virtually no sound insulation. The shower couldn't keep a steady temperature, so showering there wasn't great.

Verified reviewBeautiful place and very friendly owners. The place is clean and has everything you need. I can certainly recommend the breakfast (not included but just 5USD). Highly recommended.
If I would have to think of something it could be the presence of a smaller light in the room.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed our stay at Casa Pedro very much. The host family is kind, Pedro knows the location very well and gave us many usefull recommendation. We appreciated a huge shower corner, shared kitchen and perfect breakfast. I am not sure how complicated is to reach city center from here as it’s about 2km far away. We had our own car and there was parking place available. You should stay here!

Verified reviewGreat helpful host, nice area and mountain views, beautiful garden, we liked fun with host's chicken, good breakfast.
Utensils insufficient (if we would to cook, we would have serious troubles, only one chair on terrace) lack of warm water, not good coffee (in area of coffee plantations), when we wanted leave for hike early in the morning, we were surprised with 2 guarding dogs at our bungalow. Also we couldn't sleep very well due to outside noise (dogs, cocks).

Verified reviewBeautiful area. saw a rainbow each day. I rented a car, so the slight distance outside of town was no issue at all, though there is public transportation. the room was spacious and clean. I enjoyed the peace of this area. There’s a hike that starts literally at the hostel. highly recommend!

Verified reviewLoved my stay at Casa Pedro, Marilin and Peter treated me like family, they were so helpful in many ways, Peter drove me into town to catch the shuttle for my coffee tour and for my trip to Santa Catalina. Marilin is a great cook, just let her know a few hours in advance if you want to dine with them. She helped me with a Panama sim card for my phone, couldn't thank her enough for that, she booked my coffee tour, did my laundry. They both went out of there way to make my stay awesome. I was welcomed into their home and I enjoyed talking and spending some time with their oldest son Peter, 15yrs old I think, he even wanted his supper early so he could dine with me and talk.Awesome family. The room was a good size, big bathroom and king size bed. You may hear the rooster around 6am but I traveled all over Panama for a month and heard roosters pretty much everywhere I stayed.I loved my stay at Casa Pedro.

Verified reviewThe family that runs the hostal is very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
Price was a bit steep, but it might have been influenced by the popularity of the local festival. Location is a bit out of the way, bit that also makes it a very quiet spot

Verified reviewMarilin and Peter were super friendly and helpful, they gave us advice for trips and they even organized them for us. They also spoke English perfectly. We also had a lovely breakfast. The accomodation was clean and cozy. The bed was super big and nice. Big parking space
We were happy all around. If you are very sensitive to noises in the morning you might hear the cock and if you want to walk to Boquete it might be a little far but we also saw a bus stop.... So actually: for us there were NO negative points.
