How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe stayed in a fairly modern two-bedroom apartment, which had a small kitchen where we were able to cook breakfast. The apartment itself was a good size — the bedrooms and bathroom were spacious enough, and there was a basic living area with a table for meals. It would have been helpful to have access to running water outside to rinse off sand after the beach, or at least a broom in the apartment to help manage it. We did come across a few bugs during our stay — not unexpected on an island — but be warned about sandflies. Despite the issues, I would consider staying here again if a proper clean was done before check-in.
Unfortunately, cleanliness was an issue. It didn’t feel like the apartment had been properly cleaned before our arrival. The floors and kitchen surfaces were dusty, and we had to wash the plates, pots, and pans before using them. The shower room had quite a bit of mould and really needed a deep clean with bleach. We even had to clean the toilet before using it

Verified reviewIt was very clean, great view, close to a lot with a water taxi or walk. Though bring or bug spring!! Staff was great.
Need a fan above deck for air movement. The loud music that went on till early hours of the morning, but I one that can sleep through it so it someone is a light sleeper. The shut off of water and electricity from 11:00 to 3:00 ish, every other day? Just ask, should put notices up for people that stay there.

Verified reviewGreat location at the beach, big apartment with large sleeping rooms and comfy beds. Great living room and well equipped kitchen. Nice balcony with garden set to sit in with seaview.
Wifi was a bit sketchy and even dropped out for a couple of hours. The shower jet was only warm when it was really weak; making it stronger turned it cold. Lots of sandflies so always have to use spray against those.

Verified reviewOur room was spacious and clean
our location was poor due to a noisy bar that played loud music till around four am. The neighbourhood and the market was very dirty garbage and dog poop. Since the water is in drinkable the business should provide drinking water.
Good morning and thank you for your good opinions about the cleanliness of my establishment, but I think that the problems of the islands or rather in all of Latin America are not our reason or responsibility to write this in the review.

Verified reviewVery poor internet
I'm surprised by the score you gave us. We know that the Internet is not that good, but for such a small thing to say that we are so bad????? Is it an exaggeration or on purpose. And just so you know, we are taking action in the next few days we will install Starlink to improve the service, greetings

Verified reviewThe property was very clean. Daily freshening up by the staff was appreciated.
The outdoor space was lovely however there wasn’t any shade on the deck. It was so hot we were not able to use it but there was lots of shade in the island itself.

Verified reviewThis is on the closest island to Bocas town proper. The kondo is a 5 minute walk from the main party bar in Bocas - The Aqua Lounge. A water taxi back to the main island will cost you $2 each way. Initially I was concerned how hard it would be to get transport, but there are so many taxi boats zooming about that it was never an issue, you just stand on the end of the dock and flag down the next one going past and they are happy to make an extra $2 for going to the same final destination. The room was more like a small apartment, spacious and clean with a complete modern kitchen.
This applies to most places in Bocas but especially to this place, and it's not something they tell you ahead of time on Booking: the water is only turned on for two 2 hour periods per day. Apparently the water is pumped from a fresh water lake on the main island or rain is caught and it hadn't rained for a while. The owner also said the pump from the main island was acting up? I can understand conserving water, but they should tell you ahead of time. Go to the washroom overnight? It's staying in the bowl until morning. Go snorkeling in the afternoon and want to wash the sand off? Not happening. Go dancing at night and want to shower before you go to bed? Nope. A similar thing with the AC. I understand and subscribe to conservation, but I'm on vacation. When I come home after a sweaty day, I want to walk into air conditioning. I'm paying for that. They would enter the unit and turn it off during the day. They would also re-arrange my clothes and personal items. I understand they are trying to be tidy, and nothing was ever missing, but don't touch my stuff. The internet was also very slow. It isn't unuseable, but it is slower on the island then it is in Bocas town. The owner talked about getting Musk's Starlink, who knows if he'll follow through. The owner seems like a decent guy and I could see him making improvements to the dock and other items each day I was there. It's a nice enough place, but you're paying roughly what you would pay at other places that don't have the water/AC/internet concerns.
Hello, in response to the lack of water, I have to say that you honestly don't know the pain we feel when this happens, but as you said, it is a situation in all of Bocas and not just here, and we didn't cause it either, but IDAAN is to blame ( water company), and we do not notify them because as you can imagine this company does not notify when something happens and after something happens they always say that they will solve the problem soon and in the end it takes a long time. If you understand and subscribe to environmental conservation as you say, you will know that people always have to be careful with resources, whether on vacation or at home. I don't mind the fact that we turn off the air throughout the day if the apartment is empty. I'm going to apologize if the fact that we organized your things bothers you, but the cleaning girls do their job and to clean well you have to move and organize things, what I don't understand is that if something bothers you you can talk to the moment. And returning to the water situation, upon arrival they were offered the possibility of looking for a place that did have water but they did not want it.
