How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSurfing instructor was good
Not on the beach like all the other hostels, bad kitchen, surf lessons were advertised as 25 $ but are actually 50, staff don't speak any language other than spanish, very slow unhappy vibe compared to the hostels on the beach
Hello, I wanted to clarify the payment for the surf lesson 🌊 We have fixed options: • 30 minutes – $25 • 1 hour – $50 The lesson you took was a full hour, so the price charged ($50) was according to our price list. It’s possible there was some confusion with the 30-minute rate, and I just wanted to make sure everything is clear and transparent. Regarding your feedback about the vibe and the English – thank you for sharing 🙏 We always try to keep a positive and friendly atmosphere, and we’ll take your comments into account. As for English, our team is mixed – some speak fluent English and others less so – but there is always someone available to help. We are also working on improving this to make things easier for our guests. Thank you very much for your understanding and honesty. We’d be happy to see you again 🌴☀🏄♂

Verified reviewNice space, cheap bar, wc good, pool table, ping pong also. The beds were fine.
I was in a shared dorm. My bed was at the end of the room. The room had 4 electrical outlet (to charge your electronics), 2 next to one bed, and the other 2 next to the door. Also, the staff didn't bother to show me the wc or other places of the hostel. Hostel didn't have any social vibe or anything

Verified reviewLocation is good.
Property needs a lot of work. Our room was dump, looked like a leak but it could be condensation or a mix of both, moreover broken window does not open, so we kept our door open to dry the room up a bit. Visible signs of mould on the walls and wooden beams. Grass overgrown where well worn lounge beds are, so couldn’t really relax. Check in time varies according to season and payment by card at the property adds 10% fee. Sadly neglected place with lots of potential if managed and looked after well. Clearly photos used for marketing do not reflect current reality. Kitchen needs to be cleaner, and new chopping boards are needed.

Verified reviewThe hostel was only few minutes walking to the beach. There was a very big community kitchen and community area with Billard, darts and ping pong. I haven't played so I can't say how well maintained everything was.
I truly didn't like the fact that the hostel is lacking a few basic things despite the very cheap price. I expect a basic hygiene and comfort no matter how cheap the stay is. I found it annoying that in the room there was only little space for luggage or personal things. I believe it's cheap and easy to add a few more wooden shelves or desk. Also there was no trash bin in the room (easy fix). There was only two outlets of which one you gave to use for the AC (that worked well). A multiple socket outlet would have been useful (easy fix and cheap). There was no full body mirror. Neither in the room nor in the shower. Only the shared sink had a mirror which in the evening was not well lit. The shared toilets need maintaince. Replacing toilet seats is cheap. If you don't care about these little comforts than the place is quite respectable but as a long time backpack traveler I get annoyed by the lack of these comforts.

Verified reviewIt was cheap, it was near the beach, what more can you ask. The hostel is very basic, but you don't need much more there. There's an incredible amount of restaurant nearby and you can choose to cook yourself in the shared kitchen with groceries from the shop that is very close too.
It's a bit of a weird town, but this has nothing to do with this specific hostel. The town is taken over by Israeli's, so the public isn't really mixed or varied.

Verified reviewIt was a solid stay. I'll start with the good: comfortable pillows and bed, AC that worked well, private balcony, and the location of La Choza can't be beat. The staff was amazing, super friendly, helpful, and very attentive.
As for what could be better? Quite a lot sadly. The bed only had a sheet for sleeping and no blanket, which kind of negates having an AC, there should be blankets for rent or blankets period in each room (there was not). Most of the times the bathroom did not have soap which really sucks. The showers are full of mosquitos and felt like a death trap, so I showered at friends' places. Little to no furniture in the room and hooks for hanging things were broken off so the only place to put a bag or hang things was on a tiny drawer that was not enough space for 2. Also, very loud, super thin doors and people up at all hours of the night, you can hear dogs barking, people talking in the lounge area and it feels like nothing you can do.

The restrooms had a strong urine odor.
