Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaStaying at La Loma Lodge was nothing short of magical. The lodge is beautifully tucked away in the rainforest, surrounded by vibrant wildlife and the serene sounds of nature. The accommodation was stunning — open-air, thoughtfully designed, and deeply connected to the environment. Every detail feels intentional, from the comfortable beds to breathtaking views of the forest, to having privacy from other rooms, to having two hammocks, to toilet paper holders ;). It’s the perfect balance of charm and comfort. The food and drinks deserve their own spotlight. Most ingredients are grown right on the property (even the pepper on the table and hot sauce are so), and every meal (and also the non-alcoholic drinks) is fresh and absolutely delicious. Dining at La Loma is more than a meal — it’s an experience and you’ve even got the best view of the bay ever from the restaurant. But what truly makes La Loma exceptional is the people. The hosts and staff are welcoming, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and chocolate farm. Their care for sustainability and respect for the environment shines through in everything they do. From hiking through the cacao farm and learning about chocolate-making to trying different local fruits and spotting sloths right from the restaurant, every moment was unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place that’s more than just a stay — a place that connects you with nature and leaves you feeling inspired — La Loma Lodge is it. Without a doubt, one of the most remarkable travel experiences we’ve ever had. Make sure you stay a bit longer than we did, one night was definitely not enough.

AustraliaThe food was incredible. Every meal was different, had multiple courses and was the best food we ate on our whole trip through Central America! The view was amazing. I will definitely recommend this accommodation to all my friends and family :) I also really enjoyed that all the activities were run by local guides. We learnt a lot about the local culture, wildlife and history of the area and all the guides spoke great English.

United KingdomI was a solo traveller, and there weren’t many other guests, so I wasn’t able to do any of the tours. In some cases had a minimum person limit, or in others they wanted to charge me double. This was a bit of a shame but I made use of the free kayak, the onsite short hiking trail and the daily boat transfer to red frog beach.
La Loma was a magical experience. The location, the views, the jungle, the food… I was visited by monkeys, sloths, tropical birds, armadillos, frogs, bats… I woke one night to see a sloth silhouetted by the moonlight. The room was dreamlike and the tropical rain and frog chorus provided the perfect backdrop. Big thanks to Juan Carlos for being a great host, and to the lovely yoga instructor (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name!). The food was delicious, and I thought it was a nice touch to offer packed lunches for day trips! Thanks for a great, memorable week. I felt like I *was* the Rainforest Queen.

AustriaBe aware of the loud noises of the jungles and a lot of animals and bugs.
It is a cool remote location, where you can really switch off and enjoy the jungle. The food was great and the service exceptional! The greatest part was a sloth that enjoyed his time super close to the main lodge. We also really enjoyed the farm tour and could try a lot of the organic produce.

United StatesAfter a long day bopping around the islands, climbing up to the room was tough but WOW were the views worth it once you got there.
A magical experience. The photos don't do the view and surroundings any justice. The climb up to the room can be tough so not appropriate for people that aren't physically able. Food was amazing and the staff was wonderful as well. Would recommend this place 10/10 times.

Being fully immersed in the jungle is such an experience! Monkeys came to visit, saw so many animals/birds. Food was so so good! The organic chocolate has no match… just heavenly! Loved the bioluminescence excursion at night. Wonderful people at the facility. Really enjoyed it a lot!

SpainYou are a bit limited when you want to move around the island because they only offer water taxi boat to the village Old Bank and Red Frog Beach ($15 and $10 each roundtrip). You depend on them if you want to leave the hotel and visit because you need a boat.
You can see monkeys and sloths around the hotel. The views from the bed are amazing. Super clean. Amazing food. Great staff. Extremely comfortable bed.

United Statesif you have a high aversion to insects, an outdoor lodge is not for you. The netting around the bed was perfect and spacious and we never had any issues while sleeping. However all common spaces are open air, so a few bugs may pay a visit. Nothing harmful though! We even saw a stick bug, which I found really unique! (I dont like bugs touching me and I had no issues staying here)
The food was incredible and so fresh. You could tell the kitchen staff really prided themselves on their food. The lodge itself was phenomenal and far exceeded our expectations. They were waiting on us hand and foot and were able to complete every request with ease and speed. The cocktails were special every night and incredible. The jungle sounds were amazing, the views were amazing, and the privacy of each bungalow was perfect. You also get fresh cocao tea and muffins delivered fresh to your room every morning at 7 am (even when its pouring)! Would absolutely, 100%, without a doubt return!

United StatesNothing to report :)
What an amazing time we had at the Loma Jungle Lodge! From the moment Mr Kelly (boat driver) picked us up to when we arrived at the boat deck with Sofia and Juan Carlos waiting for us to every moment in which the staff was always happy to see us and help us. The room is spectacular just at the tree canopy so you get to see the jungle life every second of the day. All kind of birds. Green lush as far as your eyes can see. The lodge is in Isla Bastimento which is definitely a sanctuary and we hope it stays like that. The food is another high point of the trip. Every meal is prepared right before and by the wonderful cooking staff. Delicious local produce and local recipes which makes you feel great all day long. Actually, we couldn't wait for the next meal. The dinner experience was even better with the great service of Virgilio. Thank you. Don't be afraid of the rain. It was wonderful to experience a bit of rain and the rooms are totally fine even with the open concept. The open concept for each room makes the whole experience even better morning to evening. Thank you thank you for the staff friendliness and making our stay unforgettable

The staff were fabulous, the setting was beautiful but the showstopper was the food. Some of the best meals I’ve ever eaten and able to cater for dietary requirements (gluten free) really well so I didn’t miss out on the experience. The farm tour was also amazing and we got to see a sloth for the first time! I will remember this place always as being a great place to relax, enjoy nature and find some calm and zen! It felt quite the adventure for us sleeping in the jungle but being complelty comfortable with all the facilities of the bungalow and communal area of the lodge. The whole experience was amazing! It's hard to put into words all the things we liked. The tours around the farm and cacao were enlightening. The rain in the middle of the night cools everything down while the creatures of the night sing you a lullaby. We really appreciated the lack of TV.

CanadaIt is an expensive experience (but worth the money) No beach access. To get to any beach , you need to take a water taxi. The bay is full of sand flees and mousquitoes. The two trails from the hotel are small and notimmersive to Jungle like experience.
Tree houses are amazing. Self sufficient facility (energy and water) It is a chance to sleep with high comfort but fully open to nature. A chance for a free chocolate farm tour to better understand the process from tree nut to chocolate cake. The meals are five stars restaurant quality: creative, fresh, cooked with local and property grew legumes and fruits. A chance to see sloths and monkeys. An unique experience not to miss.
