Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe AC in the room is so loud that you cant leave it running during the night. Therefore, it can get really warm.
It is very central, close to shopping streets and Via Argentina with loads of restaurants, cafés and bars. The stuff was very friendly and the room was clean.

PanamaMore coffee and bread choices in the restaurant would have been nice. Rooms could use better desk/connections for work or outlets with USB. Instructions for the A/C's would have also been great. TV's were very small but typical in Panama city at this price point.
The breakfast was US$6.50 and we had typical Bacon/eggs/toast/cofee or pancake breakfasts there for several days. We noted local people eating at the restaurant - a good sign! Maintenance staff were very good. I had a non-functioning shower head (it dribbled only) and my children's room had an excellent one. I showed the picture to maintenance and I had a new shower head in my room in less than 20 minutes. For those not familiar with Panama city, the location is excellent. Every possible thing is in walking distance, many critical things in short walking distance. Also very close to the financial district and right between two metro (subway) stations. Accomodation was a little basic but nothing was broken (except my shower head) old or bad. No amenities save soap in bathroom - again a function of the price point. We have tried three other hotels in this price point in the area plus hotels costing up to more than twice as much. Overall? As a value proposition? This is the best. Want a breakast buffet and fancy amenities with the same great location - no problem, around the corner...but twice as costly or more. We will definitely be staying at the Marbella again in our visits to the city and after we move back to the city will recommend it to friends.

United KingdomNot so much a dislike, but a suggestion - a mini fridge in the room would have been so welcomed to keep drinks cold in a tropical climate. That alone would have pushed my rating to 5 stars.
The accommodation was clean and fresh. The location is great! The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices.

United KingdomThe restaurant staff were not the most friendly or personable. I found the waitress a little cold and eventually just stopped going there, instead ordering my food to the room. Moreover, the staff that brought the food up were a little inflexible, demanding payment for meals immediately, even though the reception had assured us that we could pay there, and on one occasion the man refused to budge on this until I went downstairs with him to pay. The vending machine did not work: I was charged twice for one water, and none of the items in one row could be purchased even though the items were visibly there. The location is not great: on one hand, it is close enough to the metro station and a supermarket. But on the other hand, it's a little shady at night e.g., sex workers on corners, drug users, perverts. We did not feel safe at night. On the booking.com page it says "good breakfast $6", but it's actually a la carte and cost far more than that each time. This is a little dishonest. Moreover, the portion sizes were small relative to cost (especially the Tortilla Espanola). The view from the window sucks. I don't care about that and it hasn't affected my review score, but maybe another user will want to know this before they arrive, so there it is. Finally, a mix-up regarding payment. I paid for my room when I arrived. 7 days later, the payment reverted because the hotel did not collect it in time (standard practice). I was unaware of this and was using my card elsewhere after I left Panama. Instead of notifying me about this (e.g., "hey, we didn't collect the payment, we're going to charge your card in the next X hours, sorry for the inconvenience"), they just went ahead and charged my card. I was still abroad at the time, and woke up to find this had happened, which had short-term consequences for me.
Reception staff were very friendly. They were very accommodating with things like taxis, directions, helping us find a local laundrette for our clothes, and looking after our clothes when they were delivered back to us. Full marks to the three receptionists that we interacted with throughout our stay. The cleaning staff were also very friendly, too, and accommodated our requests and needs very well. The room was nice, big enough, fairly quiet 90% of the time. The bed was nice and big and comfortable. The bathroom was good, clean, and functioned very well for our needs.

United StatesUse caution at night on the street out front, because there are usually hookers hanging out late at night and they can get aggressive. No issues with the hotel itself though, it's a decent value for the price.
Slightly dated but well-maintained hotel located in the El Cangrejo neighborhood, within a few blocks of the restaurant/bar strip on Av. Argentina. The A/C was a bit loud but worked well, and the wifi was fine also. The hotel has its own parking garage. There were usually taxis waiting out front too, and Ubers are quick to arrive. Breakfast is not included, but you get a (slightly) reduced price off one breakfast selection at the attached restaurant, or you can just order off the menu. There are many cafes nearby as well. Desk clerk and housekeeping were friendly and helpful.
