Reviews of El Valle de Anton La Chachalaca

I cannot say how pleased we were with both the Casita at La Chachalaca and with Patricia, our host. She has created a wonderful small separate building for guests with everything needed for a comfortable stay... all the kitchen appliances bathroom needs, comfortable bed and spacious square footage. A wonderful deck for enjoying the birds and other nature in the surrounding woods. The driveway may be a challenge for timid drivers, but it should not hold you back. This is a wonderful place to visit El Valle from!

The place was amazing, as was the location! We greatly appreciated the chance to have a comfortable, quiet, and scenic place to relax and cook our own meals. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with nice cookware and dishes. The living space and terrace provided a great location for bird watching. The furnishings and artwork were lovely. There was a hiking trail and restaurant within a short walking distance. Patti, the host, was very pleasant and helpful, providing great instructions and advice about local offerings, and going above and beyond in lining us up with a car mechanic when we needed it. Thank you so much!

One of our highlights of Panama, like a home from home so comfortable and everything you need. Patty is a wonderful host and she went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The garden is like a mini nature reserve and botanical garden in one. There are fireflies at night and the toucans and birds that come to the bird table are truly an amazing experience. If you go to Anton valley this is my place to stay its the best.

Very nice apartment, very peaceful and surrounded by a wonderful garden with lots of bird life around the property. An extraordinary property to connect with nature. Patricia our host was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Amazing location in the middle of the forest, lovely & helpful owner

We stayed 3 nights at La Chachalaca and we really loved it. The view was fantastic. We slept so well, surrounded by the birds chirping and the sound of the wind. We fed the birds daily and we managed to see quite a variety of them, including the mesmerising toucan. Patricia was a very kind host, always available with information and recommendations.

Excellent and tranquil location with loads of birdlife (and with a bit of searching, sloths!) and a friendly host. The garden is beautiful and the accommodation exceeded our expectations - there is a also a well-equiped kitchen in the house.

The incredible garden and absolutely spectacular view of the Valley! We also loved the birds and wildlife around the property.

The steep driveway is a little unnerving, but with the right vehicle, you can make it! A 4WD is needed, but walking is also doable.

A bit too expensive. Only stayed the one night as very expensive compared to competition. However, is a nice place that includes breakfast.

For El Valle de Anton: We spent 2 nights at Patti’s home. We were hosted in her apartment that is really cozy and stylish. Very comfortable bed and large windows with a wonderful view of the mountains and lush forest. Her bookshelf is amazing and made such a wonderful impression. The kitchen is well furnished with the essentials and we used it with great pleasure. The downtown center is relatively close (~30mins) for those that do not mind walking. We visited “La India Dormida” from there early in the morning and saw some beautiful birds and butterflies. We also enjoyed “El Pastoreo”, a very nice trail-loop close to her property that reaches higher up in the mountain nearby and where you can admire the whole Valle de Anton with an exceptional view. The driveway is very steep but we didn’t have any problems walking it. Valle de Anton is conveniently reachable from Panama city in about 3 hours with buses every ~30 mins. Thank you so much Patti for making our trip such a memorable adventure. We hope to be back one day and enjoy more of your beautiful place.

Amazing location, never stayed anywhere else like it. Beautiful scenery and nature.

Amazing view. The owner was very accomodating, and has a binder with useful tips and phone numbers of places and things to do around El Valle. Since it's a bit hard to actually get to the room from where you park, the owner will assist with your luggage both on arrival and as you depart. The room was clean and very comfy. A well equipped kitchen as well.

The walk to get there is a bit steep. There are stairs too but they can be a bit slippery.

The rooms were on top of a mountainside so the views were spectacular

Because the property is built on a mountainside the way up is extremely steep. The road is ok but it is so steep that it makes is undesirable to drive up and down. One of the large windows could not be locked but not sure security is that big of an issue. There was a kitchen however the coffee pot needing replacing ( moldy). Because you are up in the vegetation everything was very humid. our room did not seem to have much breeze flow through due to the burm by the side window. I think the place needs some tender loving care and more attention to detail.

The location was absolutely amazing. It was out of the town, so very quiet. The view was absolutely spectacular. We had high expectations and they were exceeded! I have stayed and worked in many locations in Central America, and I can honestly say that this place ranks high. The grounds and landscaping were gorgeous. The quiet, remote location was just to our liking, and the birding was great. Our hostess was tremendously helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed! We are avid birders, and racked up a good list right on the property and road, and greatly enjoyed the morning performance at the fruit feeders. In addition to birds, we saw several species of frogs and lizards, a porcupine, a possum, squirrels, and some really interesting insects. We wished we had three weeks instead of three days!

There was nothing to dislike!

Patti is a wonderful host who is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The accommodation is tranquil, surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife, in the middle of the forest. The town is easily accessible via a pleasant 30/40 minute walk. I spent 4 wonderful nights relaxing and will for sure be back.

Amazing views and great birding!

Really cute place in a forest of flowers and birds. Patti was an excellent host - communicative, helpful. The house had everything we needed; we loved our stay.

Was hoping the house had a bigger view, but really did not hinder our enjoyment.

it was remote and quiet. Maybe a bit far for some, but Iñmany will enjoy the privacy. Really nice to have a sitting room and kitchen with a private balcony and nothing in the view but trees.

The private house was amazing! It's pretty much in the middle of the woods, and there's a great chance you get the see exotic birds on the balcony of the house. Patty, the host, was amazing and very welcoming, she had already previously contacted me and gave me instructions about the house and its location, very professional. I will definitely be returning to this place this summer, it's a great place for couples!
