How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI loved this beautiful property with fruit trees & varied flora & fauna and the old fashioned verandah suitable for sitting for hours and enjoying the view of the ocean across the street. My friends & I occupied four of five rooms that shared the verandah of an old- fashioned "plantation style" house! Breakfasts were delicious & the hosts who live on the property were full of information about Bocas!

I thought it was on the beach so I was a little disappointed that there was a road between inn and beach. Other than that we would definitely go back there in a heartbeat.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was excellent. Among other trees in the garden were coconut palms and the gardener cut some fruit and we had absolutely fresh coconut water which was amazing. The swimming pool and environs were idyllic. Lots of native birds to view and enjoy.
The bedroom needed better sound insulation.

Verified reviewFrom the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful hosts, Mark and Sharon. Their beautiful property is surrounded by stunning foliage, and its just a 5-minute taxi ride outside of town. Our room was spacious and offered great views. The highlight was definitely the pool area, a tranquil oasis perfect for relaxing in the sun or shade if you prefer. Each morning, we enjoyed delicious homemade breakfasts. Mark and Sharon made sure every guest felt welcome and offered lots of recommendations. The combination of outstanding hospitality, picturesque surroundings, and comfortable accommodations makes this B&B a gem. We highly recommend Sand Dollar for anyone seeking a relaxing getaway. We will be back for sure.

Verified reviewComfortable B&B with a personal touch from it’s very friendly owners! This is a nice place to relax just outside of Bocas town.
There is a road right in front of the B&B. In case you are light sleeper, this could wake you up early in the morning.
We are glad you were comfortable during your stay. The island is developing and we are very sorry about the occasional noise on the road.

Verified reviewKathe and Martin are the most friendly hosts we could ask for. They are helpful, very kind to our kids and know the area very well. Dama provided the best breakfast we had in Panama. It was a perfect start to our day.
The road in front can be a bit loud. And there is some construction next door.

Unfortunately, we are not notified when and where the crews will be working, which puts us in a difficult position as we cannot warn our guests before they arrive. Not a dislike but something to be aware of - Distance to town. Best to take taxis or if you don’t want to wait then to hire a car, bicycle etc
We are a 5-minute $1 taxi ride to town. Best to ride bikes, 15-minutes. We don't have a car. We definitely enjoy being away from the noise and congestion of town. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

I slept to the sound of the waves and woke to birdsong, it was a very convenient and relaxing 4 night stay as a solo traveler. When we booked it said $675. We put our credit card in and when we got there they asked for $700 cash. So you can’t paid by card which was an in convenience. It also said air conditioning but there was none. We had a fan and that was all. Also for the price they charge you should at least get a tv. There was none Others than that it was clean and the owners and staff were really nice.
Let me respond to your issues: 1. I’m sorry your Booking.Com reservation led you to believe the total for your stay was $675.00. Your room was $675 plus hotel tax of $67.50, which totaled $742.50. We gave you a price break when you agreed to pay cash, because we appreciate cash payment in this island which is very much cash-based. You saved $42.50 on your stay by paying in Cash. While not our preference, we do allow credit card payments. 2. The Casita does not advertise A/C. The Seaview King rooms upstairs do have A/C. We built the Casita with maximum air flow in mind, and there are several working fans. 3. We find TVs unnecessary as most of our guests are busy exploring the island, and for entertainment at night they tend to bring tablets or laptops. We are sorry this was not the case for you. Thank you for noticing that our hotel is clean; it’s a priority for us.

Verified reviewGreat location a few kilometers away from Bocas town. Easily accessible by bicycle or taxi. The house is very nice, with a big tropical garden and a very nice pool to relax. Breakfast was delicious, with a beautiful view of the garden. Very peaceful at night with a nice breeze. Didn't need AC. Marc and Sharon were very nice hosts.
