Reviews of Skully's House

The room opened up right on to the beach with the water and waves just meters away. We enjoyed hearing the waves from bed and sitting on our patio sipping coffee on the morning.

We had a wonderful stay at Skully’s House. Our room (“The Coconut”) was super clean, spacious, and full of lovely little touches upon arrival. It was very quiet—we had no issues with noise at all. We could see the monkey’s from our balcony. The team is incredibly hospitable, always ready to help, and they provided us with useful information throughout our stay. They even thought along with us when one of the children needed to see a doctor, which made us feel truly cared for. Activities were well organized and always finished on time.

Pretty much everything. The vibe, staff & owner, location, food options, pool, bar, live music. We really had a blast here with our 3 small kids. However what stood out to me were the tasteful rooms. High quality in the decoration and renovation they did (a year ago I heard).

Couldn’t find a thing I didn’t like.

I was admittedly a little nervous about taking my young kids to such an event filled space, but I was blown away by the kindness of the staff, the high quality of the accommodations and Skully the owner’s larger than life personality. We had a BLAST! We loved enjoying happy hour as the kids played in the pool, all whilst listening to the waves rolling in. Food is easy with Skully’s food court, there’s also a great café and pizza place within walking distance. The rooms were quiet and well equipped (sprinklers and smoke detectors!), we felt well taken care of. We would definitely come again!

Great location and great setting! The rooms were very comfortable and clean and it was great having a few places to choose from for food and it was all delicious It was very easy to get into Bocas main town and to the other islands

Spacious dorms with big lockers. 2 functioning kitchens which is handy when there are a lot of guests. Pool area is nice but could be cleaner. It's super nice falling asleep with the sounds of the waves.

This hostel has a lot of potential, unfortunately we visited in the off season and when there was a lot of protests in the area so it was more quiet than usual. There isn't a lot of security when it comes to who is in and out of the hostel as it is a bar too so it can sometimes be sketchy. Staff can sometimes be reluctant to help but we also understand tensions were high due to the ongoing situation. Food on site could be better for the price.

Great friendly atmosphere, the place to be to meet your local expat community. Great people. Great place to be, down the road from the bluffs for some surfing adventure. All terrain vehicles available for rent, tones of trails to explore.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at has everything you want in a hostel and it’s only a 20 minute bike ride out of the main town which I thought was perfect! Has food stalls downstairs and many places to chill out and relax. The dorm rooms are equipped with everything you ever wish for in a hostel. Light fan electronic plug clean shower with hot water good organised kitchen also just outside the room for guests to use! Thank you I hope one day I’ll be back

Love the vibe, and being right on the beach. The room was perfect, and waking up to the silhouette sky in the morning. Enjoyed talking to Skully and characters at the bar.

With ATVs coming and going out, and the one we rented having a mechanical issue, it can be a bit chaotic -- but did not detract from our excellent room, bar and food experience.

the best hostel i've ever stayed at when it comes to facilities. there is a pool, private beach access, sunbeds, a bar, 4 restaurants and 2 kitchens. the room was very spacious and nicely decorated. nice sitting areas

the hostel lacks drying lines. the cleanliness was the worst compared to other hostels i stayed at - the bathroom was overall dirty and smelly, with bugs, the bed and bed curtain had stains and some sticky spots like from a gum. the room was quite noisy at night from the traffic

The place was chaos and ran very poorly. It seemed like the majority of stf are highly exploited.

The manager was incredibly rude and made me feel very uncomfortable

Perfect location for my stay at Isla Colón. Not in the busy town but close enough to go into town and close to the beautiful Bluff beach. The hostel has got everything you need (plenty of space to cook) and has a good atmosphere. Lots of activities but no parties until late night. Best of both worlds. The big beds on the beach are perfect to chill.

Nothing :) Maybe adding paper towels or cleaning cloths in the kitchen would be a good idea.

Remember you are in Bocas del toro. Do not drink the water out of the taps.

The rooms are spacious, it is a dynamic place, you will meet a lot of fellow backpackers. You have restaurants downstairs, a swimming pool, small grocery, and a view at the sea. Two kitchens.. I would come again for two nights. They changed the bedding on my request when I asked them. I liked that.

It's not much of the fault of the stuff but backpackers were cooking lobsters and left a mess after them every night. The place could be quite dynamic and social if you search for peace, it's not the right place. They provide you with fans, don't expect fresh air in the room with so many people and now windows. You can pay extra for an air-conditioned room.
