How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI love the location of the Casita as it's nestled in a small neighborhood outside of town, surrounded by natural sounds. Yes, it's a decent walk (or taxi ride) to town, but I was prepared for this before my stay, so it didn't bother me. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe knowing staff were nearby in case of anything, and I loved having my own kitchen.
Nothing! Wished I could have stayed longer.
Thank you so much for the great review and for choosing to stay with us at The Hacienda in Boquete. We are so grateful to have met you.

Verified reviewWhat a beautiful casita set amongst a bit of tropical paradise. Every morning while drinking coffee being visited by a variety of birds. Being out of the city in a quiet setting but easily walkable to town. A bit of good exercise walking back uphill from town. Very safe and the owners were a wealth of information. I hope to return this fall.
Nothing except I had to leave!
Thank you so much for choosing to stay at our Casita. We enjoyed your company and sincerely hope to see you again soon. We are grateful to have met you.

Verified reviewThis casita had absolutely everything you need. Pepto Bismol, coffee, tea and spices, and the kitchen was well stocked. It’s small, but that didn’t affect us at all. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. Quincy is such a nice guy! I didn’t meet his wife, but she was very responsive online. We loved it! We only wish we had more than 4 nights there!
Nothing!
We enjoyed you being here and your appreciation warms our hearts.

Thank you choosing our property and staying with us. We really appreciated it. We’re so happy that you were able to enjoy the creek and the gardens. We’ve had so much fun creating them and it’s a real thrill when our visitors see the beauty that Boquete can be right here.

Thank so much for choosing to stay with us while you were visiting Boquete. We’re both so pleased you enjoyed The Casita even though the tv went in the blink! Rain and our misty weather made for some awesome bird sightings and made the gardens sparkle. We were grateful to have you here.

If this is an interview and I have to answer... Pillows. When are you ever happy with lodging pillows? But I had to answer.
Thank you for your lovely review. We certainly appreciated your visit.

Verified reviewThe Casita is small, but it's clean and quiet and has everything you need.
The location is indeed a bit out of town. Uphill, too. But, the shortcut makes the walk down fairly easy, and The Casita has a list of taxi drivers to contact to get back up from town.
Thank you for the lovely review. We enjoyed your visit. And hope to see you again.

Verified reviewReally cozy and stylish bungalow in a small, peaceful mountain village. The place is very clean and has all amenities you could need during your shorter or longer stay. The owner is really attentive and caring. Perfect place to relax but not much to do in the surrounding area.
Well, we didn´t like the location. Itś written in the platform that the distance to Boquete is 1.4 km but in fact it is 4.1 km. (I know now that 1.4 km is a GPS distance which is much different from the reality). Local taxi drivers don´t know the location and there were a lot of explanation every time we took the taxi.
In each room there is a list of taxis that know where we are located. There is no Uber or a central number for taxis in our area so we urge guests to use WhatsApp and these very good drivers. We also provide a sheet with the directions in Spanish for taxis unfamiliar with our boutique Casita.

Distance from the town and conditions (quality of the road) to reach it. Furniture, linen are a bit outdated.

Verified reviewModern facilities, In the jungle, well maintained, nature, good views, large property with creek flowing through, hike within property +outside road to mirador to the town. Everything you need (cooking etc)
Not that we don’t like, however in order to enjoy the place, you must have a car (we had one, so it was not an issue, but want to point out to people without one, it will be a long and steep hike from town)
Thank you for your great review. We enjoyed hosting you. We do have many folks who do not rent a car. If they’re fit they walk the short cut to town or simply call a taxi. We have a group of taxi drivers that are inexpensive and available for our car-less guests.

Verified reviewThe hosts Ciella and Quincy are wonderful people. We had some trouble with public transport and arrived super early in the morning in Boquete, and they picked us up with their car. They instantly made us feel so welcome, and it felt like staying at your family's house. The garden is beautiful with many places to sit and relax whilst watching the hummingbirds. The casita has everything you need to feel very comfortable. Kitchen is fully equipped and the bed is soft. I would recommend anyone to stay here if you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of town and love nature.
Everything was amazing. One thing to note is if you book this without having a rental car, you'll find some taxi drivers have trouble finding the house, but the hosts provide you with some reliable taxi drivers you can contact. You can walk to downtown Boquete using the shortcut provided by the hosts, but the walk back up may be tough for some, as it consists of a very long staircase that can be slippery in some areas. Again, it's not a reason to not stay here, just something to note :)
We simply loved you staying with us. It was adventure for both of us. We have recently found taxi drivers who are much more reliable. I’m so happy you discovered the peace and beauty afforded by being only 10 minutes from town by taxi or car. And that short cut walk is legendary. It’s been there for decades. It used to be the only way up to this area. Steeped with history.

Verified reviewThe casita is placed in a beautiful garden, so you are surrounded by flowers, trees and birds.
To walk your way up is a tough experience and will take you around 45 minutes (by the shortcut), the way down is okay and doable in 20 minutes.
