How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWonderful quiet place with a great garden/pool area where you could relax the whole day. Nice and clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Many friendly cats around. We had a great stay here, very good restaurant around the corner and nice beach, we took the car for a few minutes because of the strong sun, but it’s not far.

Verified reviewChristophe and Nadège are excellent hosts who serve you a delicious breakfast with homemade yogurt and bread. Very friendly and helpful. Well equipped rooms with an eye for small details. Excellent restaurants nearby. Great place which makes you feel very welcome.
For the lazy ones, the hotel is unfortunately located about a km from the beach and also from the next restaurant.

Verified reviewI liked the exterior style of the house, and the surroundings were lovely, with beautiful flowers and a pool. The European-style breakfast was also very enjoyable
The interior design felt poorly thought out, and the bathroom was outdated and not to our liking. The outdoor furniture was disappointing as well, with old, dirty pillows and faded colors. It’s a shame because the property is overpriced for what it offers. On the positive side, the bed was excellent—large and very comfortable. I recommend updating the interior and replacing the furniture to make the property truly worth the price
We are sorry that your stay was not good. I would like to say that the room are exactly like in the photos. So, sorry is you don't like the design. For the outdoor furniture, the pillows are cleaned regularly and changed every year. With the hard sun and humidity, the color are faded very quickly.

Verified reviewExcellent and delicious breakfast exceeded our expectations. Fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, crepes, fresh baked bread were served with great class and attention to detail. A true French B&B in the tropics.
Please note that when we booked through Booking our credit card was charged 50% of the rate. However, the inn itself does not accept credit cards so the balance must be paid in cash.

No beach access. The bathroom has a bad sewer smell. Think it’s coming through shower drain. Put a towel over drain hole to cut down on smell.

Verified reviewAll - very quiet place close to the remote Santa Clara. Beach is accessible by foot. The swimming pool is nestled in the middle of a beautiful, well-kept garden. Nadège & Christophe are welcoming hosts, cooking a delicious and varied french breakfast. Walkable distance restaurant (Xoko).

Too many cats. very strong smell of cat's poop.
I'm happy you appreciate our free ride from the Rio Hato Airport with 2 cars. For the cats, unfortunately, at the time of you visit, we had some cats from outside who came here to eat... So, we are agree, it's too many cats but it's difficult to find some place for them. We are committed to animal welfare and work with a shelter to find new homes for cats. As for poop, our gardener and we try to remove it all day long, but sometimes we forget one. The best thing is to let us know.

ALL sun bed cushions were covered with cat hairs and around the property was always a slight smell of cat pee. Cat poop laying in the grass all over. A little note on that in the property advertisement would be good. Mattress was so hard, we could not sleep well and a/c blowing straight to the bed, no way to adjust airflow better. Bathroom very outdated, could use a redo.
We are very sorry that your stay was not as good as expected. Yes, we have some cats and we work with an Animal Rescue center to help to socialize cats. In more than 9 years, you are the first guests to say there is a problem with the poop. We do our best to collect them as soon as posible but, never the grass was full of them. If it was like that, I think we couldn't have a 9.3 note. We clean regulary the pool sunbath but it's true that the cats are free to move and can let some hairs. For the matress of the room, we are sorry to hear that but the client before and after you put a note of 10, they didn't mention it. Last thing for the A/C, it was possible to adjust the airflow, perhaps if you asked us, we were able to explain how. Never had any complain for the bathroom too.
