How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI would say that the staff was exceptional, friendly, helpful, and kind. The homemade bread for breakfast was delicious! If you like hostels, this is one of the best that I have found.
I believe what I wrote above.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was pleasant, if a bit small. The bed was comfortable and it felt very secure. Well-placed to explore Miraflores and a safe walk to the waterfront.
We found the wait for breakfast (up to 25 minutes one day) and the lack of seating for eating a bit inconvenient. The wifi was a bit patchy in our room as we were between two routers. The dorm was a bit smelly, but that’s more of an issue with guests - it always smelled like alcohol and cigarettes and there was not much ventilation. The velcro on my privacy curtain was holding on for dear life and often fell off. Trying to get the plugs for the bed lamps to stay in was a constant struggle. We tried to organise an airport shuttle using the company that they promote at the front desk; it never arrived, as it had been booked for the day before by the staff member, despite us asking for it to be tomorrow. We were then informed, rather bluntly, that it was our responsibility to confirm the information about the reservation on the WhatsApp message from the company, which we had never received. Not so much as a sorry or any accountability, just a suggestion to take a taxi.
Tristán, We sincerely regret what happened on your last day with the transfer to the airport. Beyond the situation itself, we especially regret that our apologies are coming so late. On behalf of the entire Kaclla Hostel team, we want you to know how truly sorry we are. As you mentioned in your comment, there are days when the number of guests exceeds our expectations, and unfortunately, things don’t go as smoothly as we would like. We’re only human, and although we always strive to give our best, we do make mistakes. That doesn’t take away from the fact that we owe you a sincere apology. Breakfast is one of our greatest prides, and we love preparing it specially for each guest. However, on busy days — especially when we have group reservations, as was the case during your stay — we inform guests in advance that there may be some delays. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the power outlets and Wi-Fi; we’ve already taken steps to address these issues. We wish you the very best on the rest of your journey!

Verified reviewa pretty house and interior, clean, great location in Miraflores
felt unwelcome from the moment I arrived until I left, if I wanted to stay with my nagging old aunt I could for free, limited access to anything, pretty but tiny breakfast, beds and bathrooms like in military barracks
Your comment comes across as disrespectful, and particularly unacceptable is the way you referred to a member of our staff. We find it completely out of line and intolerable. Furthermore, saying that “everything has limited access” is an exaggerated and ill-intentioned remark. You checked in just before the front desk closed, and even so, you were allowed to use the yoga room after 10 PM so you could stretch and relax. The second time you wanted to use it, the receptionist simply explained the usage guidelines, which are necessary to keep the space clean and organized. This room is not only used by guests but also serves as a space for therapies. Regarding the dorm, yes — sharing a room with several people can indeed feel a bit like a barracks. That’s part of the hostel experience, and it’s clearly stated when making a reservation. As for the breakfast, we offer a fair, complete, and energizing option: one hot drink, a natural juice, a bowl of fruit with granola and yogurt, and two pieces of bread with peanut butter and jam. In our opinion — and in the opinion of many travelers around the world — this is more than enough to start the day well. We want to make it clear that it’s not our usual style to respond in this tone. However, we are clearly upset by the lack of respect shown toward the people who work here — people who give their best every day to provide a good experience for all our guests.

Verified reviewThe property is attractive and the location is very good. The dog is cute and the staff very kind.
The shared bathrooms are between ALL rooms not just one between a few rooms. We were on the second floor so using the bathroom at night was annoying and cold. In the morning people eating breakfast all stare at you as you walk to the bathroom. Also you can see into the men’s showers from the stairs. The bed was hard. The windows don’t lock so the rooms are insecure. You can hear everyone through the night especially people coming in at 2/3am drunk. There was no soap in the ladies for 2 days.

Verified reviewThe location was okay.
The bathrooms aren't very good and aren't even close to the rooms. Breakfast is basic; if you want eggs, for example, you have to pay extra. Sometimes, the dog that roams the same areas as the guests growls and barks, which creates a feeling of insecurity because you don't know if the animal might bite or attack. It's not a pleasant or comfortable situation.

The shower room doesn't have individual cabins to change clothes. You need to do it outside the curtains or in the wet area of the shower.

Verified reviewThe room was comfortable with a lovely bed. The staff were very nice and even made us a coffee when we checked out an hour earlier than needed for our 6am pick up!
The toilets were downstairs and you had to walk past people having breakfast/coffee to use toilets and showers!

Verified reviewGood quiet location. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, excellent music playlist and lovely yoga room.
Staff were not super friendly/helpful, 4 bed dorm is right by the kitchen and bathroom so loud in the mornings. Dog isn't super friendly and barked/lunged at some male guests.

Verified reviewIt's a friendly place to arrive in peru. There is a shared kitchen. Toilets and showers are shared. The style of the bunk beds are very snug and comfy, they have curtains and their own lamp.
I'd prefer unsuite, however it's within an old courtyard setting, so doubt there's room
Dear Alice, Thank you so much for your kind words! We're really happy to know you felt welcome upon arriving in Peru — that’s exactly the feeling we hope to give. It’s great to hear you liked the cozy bunk beds and the shared spaces. We understand that having an ensuite is sometimes preferable, and you're right — our charming old courtyard layout does limit some things, but it’s also part of what makes KACLLA unique. We hope to see you again if you ever come back to Lima. Safe travels! Warm hugs from the whole KACLLA team 🐾

Verified reviewLovely staff, delicious breakfast, excellent space where I immediatly felt at home - able to chill on my own or meet people and have conversations. Excellent. Couldn't possibly have been better. Excellent location too - the corner shop just 30 seconds away has everything you could want, and the main person working there was extremely kind and we ended up having many conversations each time I went there.
Nothing - everything was perfect.
