How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful building and handy location. Beds comfy and breakfasts fine.
No water at all in room for 24 hours then only cold once plumbing restored. Very noisy due to echo off walls.

Verified reviewBedroom had almost nothing except a bed (that was extremely hard with old bedding). Location was fine as right next to historic centre, but also a few blocks away is a really dodgy area. We ended up cutting our trip short here.

Verified reviewVery particular place, well located on Lima City Centre, kind staff and good cost-benefit. Breakfast simple, but fair for the price we paid.
Shower took a bit to get warm. May team can advise the guest to know how to manage it.

Verified reviewIt's like museum. Everywhere is antique furniture and there are beautiful chandeliers and paintings
There's no sign on the door that it's a hotel so it's hard to find. The house number is high above the door and not easy to spot. Fortunately, we could ask the staff at the shop at the corner. We saw some other tourists who couldn't find it either.

Verified reviewLocation was very good, near markets and churches.
Room was very cold, no heating commodities or anything. A TV or a decent WiFi would be nice.

Verified reviewLocation was amazing. Opposite the San Fransisco church. The building was amazing- old and very beautiful inside with amazing art and decor.
Rooms were drab and lacking any colour or style. Nowhere to store clothes or bags except the floor. Not even a reading lamp. Or a hook. Room felt damp and cold. Water took forever to get hot. Bed was as hard as a rock, lumpy pillow, sheets didn’t fit properly so easily slid off the bed. Street noise.

Verified reviewI appreciated how clean the property was! The location is also great.
The shared dorm room is pretty loud as breakfast is served right outside and there’s pretty intense honking going on all night. Also, not much of a vibe going on. The biggest issue I had is there were no lockers and no way to lock the door on the shared room so I was concerned about my stuff the whole time. There really needs to be at least a small locker to lock valuables in.

It’s far from the airport and no elevator for big bags!

Verified reviewMy recent stay was truly memorable, even though it was just for one night. The location is unbeatable right in the heart of the city center, making everything easily accessible. Even though the room was small, the view from my window was absolutely breathtaking and more than made up for the size. The interiors exude a royal charm, with elegant decor and luxurious touches throughout.

Verified reviewThe place is like in a historical fiction movie. Staying there feels like staying in the museum, or visiting the era of viceroys. The location is unbeatable: you can work to all historical sites, and convent of St. Francisco is right around the corner. Breakfast is served on a rooftop terrace, and cupolas of the convent seem to be around you. The place is spotless. It seems like the cleaning crew takes a special pride in keeping it squeaky clean. Tile floors are shining. Although the rooms are very, very basic, if you are a history buff and ever wanted to stay in a real colonial mansion, it is your dream coming true. The guys working in the kitchen and serving breakfast are exceptionally friendly and nice. Staff is very attentive, courteous, and eager to please. The place is exceptional !
I liked everything. However, this place is absolutely not suitable for people, who cannot climb stairs. Stairs are very steep, and to reach this amazing rooftop, it is necessary to climb two sets of stairs. It was o'k for me, though, and I find it absolutely worthy. A little problem with hot water, you need to wait for a while for the water to run hot, but, I believe, in the historical center with very old pipes, it is good If somebody wants modern rooms, this place is not for them.

Verified review24hr reception. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Plaza Armas, shops, and food.
Charged a fee for using my credit card and checking in earlier. Beds were not comfortable. Old bed sheets. The restroom door was super sneaky loud. We couldn't sleep at night from all the foot traffic and honking from all the traffic. The last night, we checked out earlier because it too much. It was easier to stay awake over night at the airport rather than trying to sleep at night night. Breakfast was too early 7:30am-8:30am. I chosed this place because of all the good reviews but it was far from a great experience. Lesson learned. Spend a little more and stay at a chain location.
