How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe authentic setting of an old cuscueña home. The kind and welcoming hostess
Property could need some updating to meet Western standards, but it was part of the charm of the experience to be in a very authentic setting

Verified reviewThe hospitality of Ms. Magda. You felt cared for and at home especially when you are a solo traveler. Location is also very good! Rooms are clean and well-ventilated which is a must for me since I do not like musty smells.

Can be cold at night, with heating supplies will be excellent.

Verified review1. Good communication via whatsapp. English works well. 2. The host lady doesn't speak English but translator works well. 3. You can enjoy very good breakfast (I mean, not luxurious one, but with fresh avocado, juice, coffee, bread with jam and butter which is very good for me) 4. There's a laundry room in the hostel, you can wash your clothes with 6 soles per kilo. 5. It is a pro and a con at the same time. The main door would be locked in midnight time and nobody could go in or out since the only key in with the lady. So if you need to go out / come back during this time, you have to tell the lady in advance. Most of tours in Cusco starts at a very early time like 4 AM for pick up at hotel, don't forget to tell the lady first.
The shower is not hot enough -- but I think most properties in Cusco have similar problem.

Verified reviewStaff was very helpful and nice. Always ready to help us.They took very good care of us. I recommend this place.
There are no windows in the showers and Cusco is very cold. Showers are outside the rooms so you need to walk in a corridor to get to your room.

Verified reviewComfortable bed, very nice staff and excellent breakfast. Decent location.
Very cold room and you need to leave the room and walk outside for the bathroom. The doors have cracks so all the cold air comes inside. Lots of blankets, but I was so cold!

Verified reviewCute little rustic guesthouse. Well located only a short walk to the main square and museums. Anything you need you can easily ask for: blow dryer, towel, change sheets, more toilet paper, clean trash bins, etc and they will help provide. They are so helpful. Magda speaks Spanish and her son Jimmy also speaks English, can help set you up on tours and give advice. Great breakfast of eggs, fruit smoothie, bread, avocado. There were a few beds in my room so I could pick the most comfortable one for me, and Magda made the bed. I was warm enough with extra blankets and asked for extra pillowcase. Lukewarm shower. Nice outdoor seating in a small courtyard. I wish I could stay longer. I felt very safe, in the evening they buzz you in and out through a secure gate. One morning I had an early tour at 3:30 for Rainbow Mountain, I let Magda know in advance, and she got up to unlock the main door and she made sure I safely got into my van. Excellent price for private room with shared bathroom.
Wear shoes/sandals in the room because of the red paint residue from the floor.

Verified reviewThe hostel is located in a great area, very close to the main square and well connected to the airport by the city bus (el dorado). The room was not luxurious, but very clean and comfortable. There was hot water in the bathrooms. Most importantly though, the owner Magda, who runs the place is the kindest, most caring person who made me feel like home. We’ve had some great conversations (she only speaks Spanish though!). The breakfast she served was better than in any other hostel i’ve stayed with fresh avocados and blended juice from fresh fruit. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay and the quality to price ratio is great.

Verified reviewThe breakfast included in the price was delicious. The hostel was really cute, the room was small but clean with a comfortable bed, we felt well there. The lady who was in charge, was always smiling and kind, she did her best as a host. I felt like at home. I highly recommend this place.
The shower was only hot with a little water pressure. A little more pressure and the water was cold, even icy.

Verified reviewFemale staff are lovely. The best breakfast I had in Cusco
Male staff are awful. Put me in a shared room when I'd booked a private. Understand a booking error, but to only give a discount of 6 soles was ridiculous. I didn't sleep at all
