How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe spent a week at Hospedaje La Quebrada. We had a wonderful and perfect stay and can't understand the sometimes bad reviews/comments. Breakfast was made for us every morning on our terrace. It was very simple but it worked for us (in other accommodations you don't get a more sumptuous breakfast). About the dog: In Peru it is common for dogs to be used to protect the property. This is also the case here. It should be clear to everyone that dogs sometimes bark. Thor barked from time to time when there were other dogs outside, but otherwise he spent most of his time lying in the sun and sleeping and didn't bother us at all. About the pool: it's a little oasis in this very dry environment and doesn't just offer people a chance to cool off. The fact that it appears a little cloudy is due to the fact that it is not treated with chlorine. Nevertheless, the pool is cleaned regularly and can be used for swimming. If you lie down on the loungers provided, you can watch the other animals and insects that benefit from this clean pool. There was not much noise from the street or the party, but it was unavoidable due to the nearby main road. But you won't find a quiet place in Máncora anyway. We were delighted with the accommodation and the people who took care of everything. We can only recommend it!

Verified reviewBeautiful little oasis. Peaceful, quiet, outside of main area. Nice room with balcony. Host let us check in early since we arrived on the night bus. She was very kind!
The pool was a little foggy looking.

Verified reviewUpon arrival, next to a dusty dry river bed on the edge of Mancora town, I thought “gee, maybe I’ve made an error and booked my accommodation poorly?”. But entry through a tall wooden gate took me into a mini garden oasis with lush green plants and grass. Later when I saw Mancora’s main street and other hotel choices, I was glad I could escape the noise and bustle of central Mancora by escaping to the garden oasis of Hospedaje La Quebrada. My room was spacious, comfortable and with the fan on slow and the doors to my balcony open at night, cool enough. I slept well and could hear the waves crashing on the beach. Night truck and bus noise was almost non existent. Eliza, who works at the property was pleasant and helpful. On my second morning she brought breakfast to my door! Thor, the big dog, enjoys a scratch and is a baby at heart. The pool was warm, and needed a good hit of chlorine. A cold shower was better.

Verified reviewThe most kind hearted, generous staff offering a great breakfast right outside your door. Lovely tranquil space away from the hustle of main center, but only a 3-minute walk to town. Great value for the price!

Verified reviewThe property care take is such a lovely woman. Brings breakfast every morning. Makes sure you have all you need. In general it’s a great spot. Favorite in Máncora. Quiet too! Also, you gotta love the dog
Only gave me and my partner one key which was logistically tough sometimes

Verified reviewThe pool was nice albeit small and the bed was comfortable, room was large and had a smart TV which meant we could watch YouTube. Bathroom was really nice.
The breakfast was disappointing, just a cold omelette and bread with coffee and juice. The owner didn't speak any English so couldn't get recommendations for tours or anything (but we don't speak great Spanish so that didn't help, not her fault).

Verified reviewThe room came with a beautiful view from a large balcony! There was a fan over the bed to keep us cool. The water was cold but we didn’t mind in the heat. The hostess was wonderful, she washed our clothes for a small fee, arranged an airport taxi and supplied us with a beer every now and then. I enjoyed the breakfast being brought to the room every morning so we could enjoy breakfast on the balcony or in bed. It always included a fresh juice
The breakfast always came with eggs or a fruit salad every morning which was a plus! However there was only jam and a small amount of butter with the bread rolls which was a bit plain for me. I would have loved a savoury cheese or avocado option for the bread. The wifi was ok, but not the most reliable. It made remote working a little difficult.

Verified reviewReally beautiful place, wonderful hosts, nice to relax by the pool. Great location - really close to get to the nice part of the beach and so close to town.
There was a football pitch behind the property, as well as a club nearby that was noisy till quite late, especially at the weekend. Also got woken at 8am for breakfast everyday - would have been better if we could have just come down to collect it when we were ready.
