Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandI was quite jet lagged/suffering a bit from altitude, and the noise from the hallway and lobby was quite loud. Water stops at midnight.
Staff was lovely. Looked after my main luggage for 2 days while I went to Cusco. Organised transport from Cusco airport for me. Wonderful lady.

United StatesThe shower situation wasn't the best. The water was cold. Even when the hot water heater ran, it didn't seem to produce hot water. It was our only complaint for the place.
The location of this hotel is the best you could imagine in Ollantaytambo. It is about 100 feet from the entrance to the ruins, which we had an amazing view of from our room. It was quiet, just a little off the square in front of the ruins. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main square where there are many restaurants due the main bridge being out. Once that bridge is repaired, I would expect it to be about a five minute walk to the square. The breakfast was good. The whole place was exceedingly clean.

GermanyWater facilities are not stable, but it seems to be a problem in the whole village. No heater.
Very nice breakfast with eggs, fruits, avocado and local bread. The family room has a view of the Incas ruins. Perfect location. The host helped with organizing driver for day trips.

United Statesnot a problem- but you should know that it took us a while to find the oweners, when you arrive it may be empty, go to the corner and ask for Eureka's staff and they will be right there!
This family place is best for its location!!! don't miss the amazing jewellery store across from the hotel, it's some of the finest work seen in Peru! Like in all of Peru we were treated kindly, given great suggestions and help. The family room had an amazing view of the ruins, comfortable beds and lots of space. There was only one heater one could rent from the main office, but nights were not too cold. Puma, the hotel cat, was the sweetest addition to our stay! Seriously, get some wire wrapped jewellery at the tienda across from them! :)

FranceThey lost one of my clothes items with the laundry The last day was mother day and the staff was different. He was doing his best but was not communicating enough (not providing updates to our questions) There was not enough food for the clientele for breakfast on mother's day because they did not anticipate and did not buy enough which was not great.
Lovely location and room. We did not have the same room as in the picture but it worked out OK. It did not feel cold and we had hot shower. The staff was nice and breakfast quite good. They are pet friendly too and quite accommodating They do laundry service

United StatesGetting consistent hot water in the sink may require patience at times. The shower has decent hot water as long as one doesn't take very long hot showers. There isn't much noise insulation in the rooms from outside noises, but this seems to be the case for most buildings in the region.
The property is very well located, less than a minute walk from the main Ollantaytambo ruins, and many of the good restaurants and markets/groceries are within 3 minutes walking distance. The staff is excellent and will provide you with everything needed. The breakfast was very good every day. Facilities and the layout of the lodge is nice visually as well as being comfortable.

GermanyWe can't really rate Eureka Lodge. When we returned from Machu Picchu in the evening, completely exhausted, we were told that there were no rooms left and that we had to go to another accommodation. We had booked probably 6 weeks in advance, via Booking. But somehow they seem to have a problem with Booking platform in Peru (it wasn't the first case)
The alternative accommodation we were taken to was at least just around the corner and generally quite good, large rooms and very clean. All arranged around a beautiful courtyard. I would just have been informed upfront and not upon arrival in the evening.

CanadaJust like other lodges around, there is no hot water during the day. If you need to use it, you will have to ask host to turn it on and it only lasts a few minutes. During the night before 9pm, they turned it on for all rooms, but still only lasted a few minutes. When there are other people using it, water pressure is very low.
Right beside main plaza and entrance to Ollantaytambo. Friendly staff and very accommodating. They have a dedicated parking, which is a bit far away. I just used public parking right beside it. 10 sols per day.

South AfricaWe loved most of it! As with most old properties (especially in quaint historic towns) the plumbing is not that great. I'm sure they will maintain leaking pipes every now and then. It didn't really bother us because we knew that most buildings in Ollantaytambo is old.
The location was perfect!! Next to the artisan market with a fantactic view of the ruins. It was peaceful and the breakfast was great! The hosts were super friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Definitely stay in Ollantay rather than Aguas Calientes when visiting Machu Picchu. The town is full of character and so many beautiful historical buildings and winding streets.
