How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI liked the location and decoration of the room! I liked the glass water bottles and extra warm blanket. Also the sky window was really nice to see the ruins during the day and the stars at night.
Low water pressure, lukewarm shower, mosquitoes entered the room even with door closed we put a towel under door entry. Heater barely worked and there was no blow drier or towel holder. The worst part… it was noisy. You could hear everything through the walls. We had to be up early for the Inca trail the next day. 9pm it was noisy even till 12pm. Loud people talking singing even till 3 am and it was a Wednesday night :(

Verified reviewRooms are just like the photos, and helpful staff. Lovely fruit salad, yoghurt, bread and eggs for breakfast in the courtyard. Location also very convenient and the laundromat next to the reception has fast turn around times.

Verified reviewLocation wise I guess that’s why they charge so much. (Up an ally off the main plaza)
Having said that location meant it was noisy. Dogs barking. We were in an attic room it was absolutely freezing and no curtain in the sky light which was directly over our heads in the bed. (I guess you could flip this and say that star gazing is romantic…) I was too cold to care. Shower was horrid. We didn’t take the breakfast as it was going to be outside and too cold. Oh and two small children checked us in and was all just a bit weird then taking photos of our passports on their phones. Too pricey for the quality of room but I guess that’s because of where it is!

Verified reviewThe breakfast was lovely, the location was amazing, the courtyard was beautiful, and the views were beautiful. The staff was very accommodating, they held our bags for two days while we went to machu picchu, and we got the same room back when we retuned. The whole facility was incredibly clean, and we had decent hot water (plenty for one good hot shower at a time, had to wait a couple hours for a second person to get hot water but still better than some of our other hotels). We really appreciated the service at breakfast.
We were there on a couple cold nights and although they did provide a space heater in the room it was still pretty cold, maybe some extra blankets in the room would have helped? Although I have no doubt they would have given us some if we had asked. The only other issue I think couldn't be controlled by the hotel, but our second night stay it sounded like someone had locked and anxious dog in the neighbor's yard just below our window and it barked all. night. long.

Verified reviewComfortable and clean. Heater in room worked great.
Our shower didn't have hot water. But then again we were only there one night and didn't ask how to correct this.

Verified reviewGreat location and clean. Had good breakfast.
The portable heater was slow to heat up the room. Had no hot water overnight and had to ask them in the morning to turn on the hot water. We were there during winter.

Verified reviewLocation is good but almost all hotels in Ollanta have a good location
We arrived at the hotel at 12pm and were told we couldn’t check in until 2pm, even though rooms were clearly ready. That’s their policy, fine. But when we came back at 2:30pm, no one was at the front desk—we had to wait over 30 minutes for someone to show up. Once in the room, there was no hot water. We had to go back to reception and ask them to turn on the water heater, then wait again. Even worse, we told them in advance we had an early check-out for our 6am train to Machu Picchu, yet they turned off the water heater overnight. No hot water in the morning, no shower before a long, exhausting day. The water in the room came in glass bottles with metal caps—no bottle opener provided. We couldn’t even drink the water. It honestly felt intentional. Other annoyances: the sliding bathroom door was awkward to use, and there was no power outlet near the bed—very inconvenient in a tourist hotspot where everyone needs to charge phones for photos. This was easily the worst hotel during our otherwise amazing trip in Peru.

Verified reviewCloseness to the square.
You have to walk from the main square in Ollyantaytambo to this hotel. The pathway does not accommodate any vehicles. This info should be included in the hotel description as its not easy to walk with much luggage.

Verified reviewAnything good was spoiled by one member of staff.
Exceptionally rude male staff member who thinks everyone inside the place wants to listen to his phone on full volume at night and then very loud music in the morning. Was up talking and watching TV until midnight, you get inconsiderate pricks everywhere in the world but when they work in the hotel it completely soils it.
