Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Rony, the owner, and his staff were very helpful. They arranged the Salkantay Trek, Rainbow mountain, Inti Punku and the Sacred Valley tour during our stay at Ukukus. Prices were really fine, just as the (basic) accomodation. Perfect hostel to explore Cusco and around.

GermanyThe shower temperature only remained constant for a minute or so then became very cold or very hot. The kitchen area surfaces weren’t very clean.
On request they gave us a portable heater to use in the room which very effective. We enjoyed the free hot water and tea selection. The wifi was amazing, we got over 100mbps down and up in our room! The staff were all very friendly. We had some trouble organising a refund in Spanish on a website and the receptionist helped us for an hour to solve it and was extremely patient and kind.

NetherlandsI do not like it that the clean sheets do not cover the blanket, but you see that a lot in Peru. We stayed in total 4 nights, and most of the time we had warm shower, but not always.
We stayed in different hostels in Cusco, but this was the best one. Friendly staff, nice rooftop to relax, you can cook dinner, luggage storage, good beds, location to city center is 5-10 minute walk, safe and quiet area.

PortugalI didn't have water on my last day but apparently it's a common problem in Cusco. Whenever I showered, it leaked on to the floor and created a big slippery puddle.
Check in was easy even though the staff member didn't really know how to work with the ATM POS terminal. My room was quite big and had plenty of sunlight. They cleaned it every day during my short stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good location close to the San Pedro market and San Francisco square. Safe area at night. Good value for money and quiet area. Wifi worked well.

United KingdomThe rooms were a little dated, and parts of it hadn't been cleaned particularly well. The blankets on the bed were very stained, but had clearly been washed/pressed so they weren't dirty, just not exactly appealing to sleep with.
Lovely little hostel in a nice quiet part of town. I'm an older solo-traveller so was not looking for a party hostel. This place was calm, well put together, and had lovely rooms. After having travelled for several weeks I was also very grateful for the always-hot and powerful shower. Truly a blessing! And the staff were very kind, looking after my bags which I visited Machu Picchu for a couple of days, and arranging an early morning taxi to the airport for me.

United KingdomIt’s a bit of a walk to the centre. And this isn’t really a place to meet people as it’s so quiet. The kitchen is very basic and people steal food from the fridge even though it’s labelled

AustraliaThe kitchen is not very well equipped and there is occasionally a water issue. They could also do with restocking toilet paper/soap/matches more often.
The hostel is located near the market in a less touristy part of town (but be aware it’s a 10-15 min walk to the plaza). The staff were so friendly and helpful. The dorm room was spacious and felt secure. The beds are comfy and for the most part the shower was hot. There is a storage room to leave bags if you’re hiking.

United StatesTried to switch me to different room at check-in. Had to negotiate to keep the specific room I reserved. Public street light shining into room, darker curtain would help. Thin walls, woken up by noisy guests. One day came back and door was open (not just unlocked, but open. Luckily nothing stolen). Requested no more cleaning service, but kept coming in to clean every day while I was out. Woken up by police marching band blasting music and shooting fireworks around 2:00am most nights, but I assume this is all of Cusco and not just this neighborhood.
Amazing shower, hot and and strong pressure if you want. Portable heater and extra blankets were more than enough to keep warm. 5min walk to big food market where locals shop. Helpful staff. Great Wifi. Good exchange rate when paid for room in dollars. Room and all common areas were spotless.

United KingdomThe kitchen could do with an upgrade, everything is really old, the pots and pans are deformed and handles are coming off. The gas to cook on is a bit of a fire hazard, you need to use matches and it lets out a huge flame. I'm surprised no one got burned yet. The common areas are pretty cold especially at night. The breakfast they offer (extra) it's not that great, very few options and everything is cold; we only had it once. There is no soap, you have to get your own.
The staff was really friendly and helpful, Ronnie runs the travel agency on site and he's really good and very honest. The room was clean and the beds comfortable, they gave us extra blankets as it gets cold at night and there is no heating, but under the blankets is was very toasty. The water was often off and we had to go to reception to ask for it to be fixed and they always did and after it was fine. The shower was hot and it had good pressure.

United StatesLocation had uber taxi cancel on me twice due to difficulty of traffic getting down the small side streets leading to the hostel. One was only 1km away but said it would be 45 minutes. Had to walk to the main square 10 or so minutes down to get a taxi to the airport. I have a feeling this is more a problem of the city in the evening than the hostel though.
Super friendly staff, the private room was very comfortable and came with a heater. Free working WiFi. The bathrooms were always clean and had toilet paper and hot water. Good spot in Cusco but down a couple small side streets that make it hard to hail a taxi. I got sick (unrelated to this place) and couldn't travel, but the hosts were nice enough to let me stay in the same room and book another nights stay.
