Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere's an additional charge not mentioned in the app if you want to use the kitchen...
Spacious communal area and very laid back vibes. Friendly staff with a good eye in restocking the bathroom and bar. The beds are equipped with mosquito tents barriers so you can sleep peacefully without being eaten alive overnight.

I loved it at Wallys hostel, and his team is absolutely lovely. They can not help you enough. I'm a solo packer, and they made me feel like family. Wallys is absolutely what a hostel should be. The beach is absolutely beautiful. I was very sad to leave.

Wally's place is a fantastic place if you really want to chill and meet other very chilled travelers from around the world. It is situated between the beach and the main town in a very quiet safe location. I booked 2 days and stayed 5. I left with a heavy heart. Wally is very special person and with his genuine friendliness and relaxed attitude really makes this place amazing.

A perfect place for comfort and relaxing away from the parties - while close enough to get around quickly and easily. Always good conversation with the other backpackers & owner. Wally has such good information for your further travels around Peru. Great coffee in the morning. Really good mosquito nets for the beds !

AustraliaA little warm in the room but that can’t really be helped in summer. The fan was appreciated.
The property is quirky and comfortable. It’s a great budget accommodation and is nice and clean. By far the best part is the fantastic host. Wally organised early check in for us after an overnight bus, recommended great restaurants & allowed us to shower and relax in the common area after check out. He built the place himself and takes great pride in it.

GermanyWe arrived in the middle of the night prior to our actual reservation date (and without informing Wally about our arrival time) and he opened the door for us with a big smile and good mood and two beds ready for us, which we were super thankful for :) the place is very cosy and feels like home. Would definitely recommend staying there when in Máncora!

New ZealandThe hostel is quite a walk from the main beach spot and surf break. The roof/walls in our room weren't completely secure so we had a lot of mosquitos in our room all the time. Despite the mosquito net above the bed, they still managed to make their way in and I ended up with a lot of bites. They hung out in the toilets and shower too, so you would get attacked by them when you used the facilities.
The hostel had a cool rustic layout, and a good common area to hang out in. My partner and I booked the private room for our stay in Mancora, hoping to get the social aspect of being in a hostel however there were no other guests there during our stay which was a shame. Our host gave us lots of local tips, cooked us some food from his hometown in Russia, and did some laundry for us which was helpful. Our bed in our room was comfortable and private, great to have our own balcony. Really appreciated the complimentary water tank we got - saved us a lot of money on water. Great having the hostel locked so you know your belongings are safe.

Honestly one of the best Hostel on my trip through South America. I felt welcome and like i am at home or visiting good friends. The hostel is close to the beach and you can see the most beautiful sunset omg. I booked 2 nights but stayed one week in the end because i didnt want to leave. The hostel is very cosy with the hammocks and huge hang out area. Its 100 percent good energy from rus, who works and lives in the hostel. He teached as an amazing russian dish wich i defenently try at home, tells cool storys and helped me to organize my surflessons, vegan cakes and recommended nice places in Peru. I also appreciate his attitude because you really see that he doesnt want to charge much for budget travelers. In my opinion the hostel could cost more per night. I had a great sleep, the area is quite and the bed was also cozy.

NetherlandsThe host is great. Helps out a lot by giving tips // insights on what you can do in the area etc. I arrived in Peru without a plan because I left Ecuador for the chaos that had erupted. The host was amazing at thinking a long and providing options incl. costs and travel time etc. or giving advice on things to do not just in Mancore but anywhere.

ThailandOften there were no staff around, which is nice in some ways but difficult when you need something! Wally was away during my visit, which is a shame because I think he would have made the difference! 20 minutes walking to the surf beach, but there is another beach much closer.
Small hostel in the quiet part of town, kitchen was small but had everything I needed, mosquito nets on the bed, nice area to socialise. We arrived early after a night bus and they let us in and have us blankets to sleep on the sofas and put coils out to keep the mosquitoes away. Very relaxed with check out too, let me keep the key all day.

IrelandThe kitchen had lots of big ants, but I guess it is not easily avoidable. There are also LOTS of frogs in the hostel. I didn't mind at all, they were cute, but some might not like them. Also, they are currently (Oct 2023) working at the building attached to it, like you could talk to the carpenters, and they make a lot of noise from the early morning. But not their fault, just a heads up
At first I didn't like it, the pictures are a bit misleading. But I quite liked it eventually, it's small but cozy. The rooms are VERY basic, but the beds are comfy and each one has a mosquito net. There are two hammocks where to relax, couches and a kitchen that can be used.
