How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe asked for a calm and clean room and we got it. The view from the room was absolutely stunning! Also being just in the living room was amazing because of the view! We could cook our rice and warm up in microwave things. Cooking tea with tap water was also absolutely fine. We had many calm travellers around our rooms so the stay in the house was absolutely relaxing. We also could leave our backpacks to store for one night without needing to pay that extra night when we went for a trip. We are very thankful and also happy for the perfect communication.
Maybe the smaller kitchen.

Verified reviewThe host is nice and very responsive via chat. She also speaks English well. Our room as well as the shared space looked charming, the view over Cusco from our window was pretty. Location is great, short walking distance to the most important places in Cusco as well as to shops and restaurants.
- At the moment of our arrival there was no water at all (in the cranes or in the toilet’s flush). The host said that it’s an extraordinary situation, we trusted her and decided to stay. And then during one of the evenings there was no hot water in the shower and the next day there was no water, none at all, cold or hot, again… Spare yourself some nerves and just choose another place if you wanna be able to take care of your hygiene or to use toilet when you need. - It gets really cold inside as soon as there’s no sun outside. Good thing is that they provide several layers to sleep under and sleeping is fine but the moment you need to crawl out of bed or take a shower is uncomfortable. Also due to the low inside temperature, our towels were constantly wet. I’d suggest the host to change the guests’ towels every day. - There are 3 outlets in the room and only 1 of them is useable as the other ones are too ‘stretched out’ to hold the chargers inside. - We were supposed to stay here again during the second part of our stay in Cusco but we cancelled and found another accommodation (which had water and nice temperature inside!). I’m genuinely surprised by this place’s high rating. Maybe I can understand the coldness inside as it’s typical in the area (although funny enough this place is called ‚warm’), but these water issues are ridiculous. It’s not a strange demand to be able to use the restroom or take a shower…

Verified reviewThe view from the bedroom overlooked the city, and it was spectacular. Mary, our contract was thoughtful, kind, and accommodating.
Lots of doors and stairs to get to the room, but that's not a big deal.

Verified reviewThey have a nice view from the window in the third floor, the room was clean, the lady that welcome us was kind
Basically there is no staff, you just stay there but there is no reception, so if you arrive earlier you cannot leave your luggage or wait in reception, there was an smell from the bathroom, It seemed like a problem in the pipes.

Verified reviewGood location
Apartment was totally different from what was shown in the photos. There was mould in the shower (photo attached). It was very cold at night, so they gave us a heater, but it took two days of max heating to make the room livable. I am also attaching a photo of the “spectacular” Cusco view seen through the window. However, we had made two separate bookings in this place (before and after Inca trail). During second stay, we where given a room in the nearby building which was the one from the photos. That apartment was great. So probably there are two hostels working under one booking advertisement.

Verified reviewMary was very communicative, friendly, and accommodating. She allowed us to store some items between stays, which was critical as we backpacked to different places with different material needs. There are multiple common areas to hang out and chill/eat/prepare food, which is quite nice. Wonderful to find such a nice clean, pretty, private room for this price.
This won’t impact everyone, but prospective visitors should be aware that the ceilings in the upstairs rooms are low. My partner, who is 6 feet, is probably the maximum height of someone who could stand upright under it (though I think he still ended up hunching a tiny bit). So this cozy place might not be the right fit if you are particularly tall. It takes a little time to get through the three locked doors into the right part of the compound, but the location is also peaceful and quiet.

Verified reviewVery nice and engaged host. Clean and cozy rooms. Clean and new equipment in the kitchen which made the cooking really nice. Possibility to leave the luggage in the storage when you go for long hikes.
The ceiling is very low - might be problematic for tall people like my boyfriend. Rooms very cozy but would be nice to have a small table or chair to hang things. It’s quite cold there but it’s common in the mountains here.
