The place to stay! Meet the Bora Bora Boss!

The mosquitoes! But that's island life, just come prepared. You could pay a fortune but they don't care how much money you have.

Great place if you want to experience desert island life and have an authentic stay with nature, beautiful scenery and an unforgettable sky at night. My wife and I love camping so this was ideal for us. If you like luxury, this isn't the place for you... Go stay on the mainland in one of those Bora Boring overpriced huts. Here you feel completely disconnected from everything and you can switch off while meeting like minded people. Great value for money too! The communal kitchen was great for sharing stories, meeting new people, cooking together and playing games. Rai was a great host, good fun and we had a great laugh with him. He even prepared us a traditional dinner. Thanks again, this really was a highlight of our trip. Just read everything and remember the path is simple! Tom and Cathryn.

Such a cool experience staying at their campsite. Host Raiarii is such a humorous and thoughtful person. He takes care of every guest, checking in each day to see how everyone’s doing 🤣. Sometimes he joins in our fun — teaching us how to weave coconut-leaf bags, taking us out snorkeling to spot marine life, and even offering free kayaks for us to use. The only downside is the number of mosquitoes, so I recommend bringing a strong repellent. Other than that, everything was filled with laughter — a truly chill and relaxing place. And her wife Naini is the sweetest! She was super welcoming and taught my friend how to do a Tahitian dance, plus showed her how to weave a crown and a little bag with coconut leaves. She said my friend was the first person she’s ever taught in English — felt really special to be her first! Such good vibes and awesome memories. Would 100% stay again!

Mosquitoes..day and night. Our mosquito net needs fixing, had a few holes.

The most fabulous location. Our room had a beautiful view, was very private with our own toilet. The owners were super helpful, excellent communication and reliable. Loved the coolness of the water in the bucket shower! Water provided for cooking. Use of kayak was fun.

Kind & full of humour owner. If you want experience something different, very basic in safe and beautiful environment this is a place for you. Be aware that there is no proper shower (bucket shower), bring your head lamp for the path when going to the toilet during the nigt. You have to bring all your food & water & anti mosquito spray with you. The camp is on the private motu, accessible only by owner’s boat. Read instructions sent by owner very carefully!! We are a couple, not used to camping, and we still enjoyed our 3 days in the camp! If you want the stay in motu with an exceptional views this is it!

I didn’t like the fact that I had the wrong information from the site which was apparently out of date. This caused us quite a lot of concern as we were left waiting at the Dock for 4 1/2 hours for the boat to arrive to take us to Alaroots. Perhaps there should’ve been an accommodation to pick up 2 ladies travelling alone a little bit sooner than the regulated 5 pm, which we had understood to be 4:30 pm with the strict ruling that if we weren’t at the dock and we missed the boat then ’sorry’ despite being there for 4 1/2 hours, I was concerned that the boat was not going to turn up and it would have to spend the night in a very rural place. I did not feel safe. Additionally I think there should be some warning that the food that we are advised to take with us may be attacked and eaten by animals in the night. We lost all of our food one night by dogs or something tipping over our plastic tub and unlocking it creating a feast and a party for any and all animals on the Motu. We were left with no food whatsoever and were reliant on other guests on the Motu to help us.

I love the ambience and the Eco friendliness of the camp. we also love the peace and calm and tranquil surroundings

If you’re looking for a good budget place in paradise: Alaroots it is. Great host family, nice Sunset view on Bora Bora. Don‘t expect a fancy hotel with AC or room service, here it‘s more Robinson Crusoe style. But you have everything you need (Solar Power to charge your phone, wifi (Most often), kitchen, fridge, toilet and shower - just everything very simple and basic. Read and Follow the instructions you‘ll receive after booking to know how things work with groceries, drinking water, tours and boat shuttle.

    - Location is unique. It’s kind of a hidden gem! You can easily go for snorkeling on the reef, swimming, sleeping sourrounded by krabs 🤣, fishing and even borough a Kajak. - the owner and his family are so kind, funny and helpful - don’t forget a mosquito repellent - absolut necessary and reef shoes - kitchen has everything - for people who loves camping, sleeping in a tipi cabin or even dorms - place to to be! - free shuttle included to the main island - don’t expect luxury service / stay Alaroots ;-) back to the roots, basic and easy going - all the best for the whole family and I guess he will be smart(er) to keep continuing his project ;-) wish you all the best! 🧡🙌🏼🌺 Kind regards - your favorite guests 🤣

    None, the accommodation meets expectations.

Rai and Rani are the best hosts we met so far during our 3 months of traveling. They were very helpful and kind people. My boyfriend proposed on one of the days and in the evening the host couple had arranged a super nice dinner for us on the private beach which was so delicious! Alaroot's simplicity is also something we really like. And you swim in the same water as the luxury hotels next door but pay an absolutely much better price. I recommend Alaroots to everyone who likes camping!

BEST ever! Incredible! Fun! Amazing! The most heartwarming and welcoming people are the hosts at this campsite. We are two girls travelling 3 weeks in FP and our stay at Alaroots was the most amazing of all the places we went. The stay was 10/10. The host couple Rai and Rani are amazing. The most beautiful people inside and out. They will make you feel like family. We enjoyed different fun activities at Camp. We went fishing, learned to do coconuts, learned everything about the REAL ISLAND LIFE!!! This stay was the best experience in our lives. If I am ever lucky enough to go to FP again - this is the place I would go. Be openminded and a happy person and they will show you everything and make you feel so good and welcome. The stay was beyond our expectations - incredible. We love you alaroots! - Cozy and nice kitchen - Our bungalow was so nice - Comfy bed - amazing location - best Beach in the world - real Island life at the Camp (feels like you are in a movie. - Loving and caring people - so cool and fun things to do - Best place to meet other travelers. (You Can book a tour with the neighbour motu. So easy and nice! Especially Moana is a beautiful soul who greeted us and gave us an amazing experience).

We really missed some basics. There were not enough chairs for everyone on the campside in the kitchen and one day we didn't have any fresh water left anymore.

Best decision ever to go here. Its very primitive, but the location is so insanely beautiful.

Although the toilet and showers were always outstandingly clean and functional, the place where you cook is a bit small. However the king of the island also known as Tapu is working on it, and during my stay he added more places for people to cook. So, nothing to complain about really 🙂

The view from this point is absolutely amazing. The place is not open to the general public thus allowing to disconnect and enjoy the nature.

    That it was short.

The location is beautiful! You get the same view and water as the big name expensive hotels just without the price tag. Definitely recommend the Glamping room and it has a view of the water and private bathroom. We made friends who ended up coming to our wedding the next day at the Intercontinental Thalsso, and the host was nice enough to take us to the hotel for our wedding on his boat.

However, this place needs some real maintenance. Just making sure there are enough chairs for everyone on the campside to sit in the kitchen if they prefer is a first priority and the kitchen needs a proper deep clean.

I think everybody will say this and that's also why it's definitely worth visiting: the location is just stunning.

We loved everything on the motu, the beach, nature, the coralgarden between the motus, fishing (we didn't catch any fishes but anyway, it was nice) , the host Tapu was really great , and his friends , really good people. Every evening, we had a great time together with dinner , barbecue, people from everywhere, laughing and talking, and learning a lot about BoraBora and French Polynesia. Really hope we meet Tapu and his friends sometime again 😊👌 /love from Sara and Joel
