How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe owner Carlos was wonderful and picked us up at airport and dropped us off when we left. Very pleasant and helpful
It was dirty and the curtains were falling off the rod. No linens for one bed until I requested them a chair fell apart and owner could not tell me how me how to use the washing machine. In a very poor area of town with no sidewalks or street lights. Lots of homeless people hanging around. Barking dogs all nite long.

Verified reviewSheets and towels were clean. The pool looked good but closed too early for us to use.
The place was dirty and needed a deep clean. It was quite noisy being on the route to the hospital and barking dogs. Lights in the halls weren't on or automatically activated.

Verified reviewVery convenient location with a bakery with coffee next door, supermarket up the road with atm, and 5-10 minute walk to waterfront and ferry. Airport pickup was very convenient and Carlos explained a lot about the area and even dropped off sweet bread in the morning.
It is an older building but it looks as if all the buildings around that area are on the older side.

Verified reviewHost very friendly and helpful. Picked us us from Port, took us to property to see location and then drove us back to town. Collected us later when room ready. Drove us to airport for early morning flight for reasonable fee. Location good. Quite.
Room and furnishings old and uncomfortable. Basically everything needs throwing out including strange kitchen facilities. Fridge needed defrosting. The whole place needed a thorough clean. The hallways to rooms are pitch black when security lights didn't work.

Verified reviewStudio was close to the cruise port. The Host picked us up from the airport took us to the apartment and got us established. He would have arranged for a rental car if we had wanted one. When asked to recommend a tour guide, he offered to take us around the island since he had business with another client. He drove us to several destination spots and gave us plenty of time. Then on our last day, he insisted on picking us up and taking us to the cruise port. Carlos went above and beyond any expectations we might have had. Greg B.
Nothing, would stay there again.

Verified reviewThe genial Carlos went out of his way to please, even driving us the local Supermarket and back to select supplies for a four-night stay. Unit is clean and 3Star appointed with everything functioning well, when you get to know how. It is attractively priced for Tahiti. The roof top pool is very clean and a plus with commanding views from the seventh floor.
Some listed features are overstated for Western bookers. For instance: "Mountain Views" includes back yards and a drab factory; for "dining table" read eating bench assorted crockery, some chipped, and "apartment" means first floor bed-sitter with kitchenette, bathroom and verandah, furnishing and ambiance 2Star. Entry to the large block of flats and the unit is unwelcoming. Suburban location out of the main center means transport challenges. We were lucky to strike tourist driver Ben Buchin, who offered to come and go for us throughout our time.

Verified reviewCommunication challenges because I was not aware Carlos would pick us up at the cruise ship. Carlos was very friendly and dependable but communication could be improved. We walked to the property but Carlos was at the cruise ship waiting for us. We didn't not know he was coming to get us. We wanted to leave our luggage for the morning so we could visit the city. Hard to get this sorted out and with no reception communication is very important. Confused why a pick up is included in the price but you can't exchange the free pick up option for a drop off at the airport option. I didn't know a free pick up was included. I had been sending notes on whatsapp but I don't feel my questions where understood clearly. I said I was walking to the property as only 15 minute walk. It is confusing how you can be picked up for free but need to pay to be dropped off. I did like that when we met Carlos he was a great person and very helpful and made me and my daughter feel safe. aircondioning worked well.
Didn't like the dark hallways, had a nice pool on the top floor but no seats around it at all so you had to sit on the wooden deck. No idea why they can't have a few chairs for guests to use. Room was quite dated with old appliances, only one towel so no extra towels to use at the pool. Breakfast was included but we were left one loaf of coconut bread only. tea and coffee were available but bread only for breakfast is not what I expected. It seems the building has people that live in the building and some units are rented. With no reception it was confusing when we arrived and due to the confusion noone could help us at the building until someone called Carlos on the phone to ask how we could get into our room. I feel I paid plenty for this room and but location is quite good. Couldn't figure out how to work safe. Internet address on document on table was wrong but Carolos told us the correct address in person. No english tv channels at all. Depending on your needs this may or maynot be a property you would want to stay at.

Verified reviewI like that our host picked us up and drop us off at the airport (5am). He gave us suggested a great French restaurant a walking distance, he pointed out supermarket, bar with live music, etc. The property is in a good location. We felt save walking late nigth back to the apartment. We were able to do laundry which was important for us. The apartment has all the basics. The pool is beautiful with an fantastic view to the mountains.
It did not feel very clean. The curtains were stained and I had read the same complaint in past reviews.

Verified reviewWalking distance to the marina and several restaurants. Carlos gave us a great recommendation for a place to eat when we arrived. He was very friendly and informative and made the check-in process easy. Carlos brought us delicious bread in the morning for breakfast. The room was basic but did have a washing machine (we didn't use) and a/c. Free parking in the parking garage.
The mattress was not very comfortable. One of the bar stools is broken. It wasn't filthy but there were food particles in the sink drainer and the sponges were very worn and stained and were ready to be replaced.

Kept waiting at airport for more than an hour for transportation to property. No soap/body wash/hair shampoo in bathroom. No tea towel to dry dishes. TV useless. Basically it was just one cramped room located upstairs down a dark dingy corridor. Original contact " Carlos " was a no SHOW. Picked up by domestic staff from airport who could not speak ENGLISH !! Booking.com should remove this property from their site.

Verified reviewCarlos, Renee, and Florance were WONDERFUL in picking us up, going over locations we could get to and how (markets, ferry, etc). The location was SUPERB, walking to Papeete market, ferry to Moorea, supermarket! No front desk but we felt very safe and could call and get immediate response. The room was very quiet. Good air conditioning. No bugs. Clean bedding. Pictures: by mistake on cruise ship, not our room. From roof of Fare Areara Sweet Studio. Papeete market easy walk.
Breakfast was coupon for croissant next door that sold out by 6am. No dish towel and dirty sponge to wash what few dishes there were. No toaster. Microwave had to be fixed. Not the cleanest so always kept feet covered.
