Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe beach in front of the hotel is not very swimable - as in doing long stretches - there is a lot of coral, but you could easily go in for a dip to cool off. There is a beautiful kayak trip (it takes about 15min) that you can do independently from the hotel pontoon to a breathtaking tiny motu - The motu is easy to walk around. We saw some dolphins frolicking near there just as were about to set off. It was magical!
Half board is included with the price. The breakfast was continental but had bacon and sausages and boiled eggs as well with jams like papaya, banana or pineapple, made in house, on french bread. The dinners were impressive as well, where you had to choose either a starter and a main or main and dessert. It was outstanding! We hired a car from the hotel and drove the ring road around the island which was easily done in a day with stops along the way. We stopped at Opoa Beach Restaurant for lunch which did not disappoint - the view from the restaurant of the palm trees and ocean was also beautiful

SpainA 10 out of 10 hotel. They knew it was our honeymoon and had several special touches ready for our arrival. The hotel has everything you need and the staff is incredibly attentive (special thanks to Elodie and Kohai). They also help you with any excursions you’d like to do. If we come back to Raiatea, we’ll definitely stay here again!

CanadaThe Raiatea lodge was a relaxing and homely experience. Staff were friendly, food was great and accommodation was comfortable. A bonus was the dock which had kayaks and snorkelling gear available for use at no fee. While we may not be returning for a while we would recommend the lodge for others who want a place to relax and enjoy nice accommodation and good food.

United StatesNothing - wonderful facility, staff, equipment and food. You should have your own car. Interesting island to explore and the main town should be visited. Enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and the Marae. Be prepared for rain in February. It is hot but storms limit your ability to access the lagoon. Tropical rain is intense but somehow exciting and usually does not last that long. Our first few days there were storms but then the weather cleared. Big difference. Loved the lagoon!
They have an area where you can snorkel, kayak, etc. Staff was great. Meals were excellent. They upgraded us to our own private cabin. The pool is good size and well maintained. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent underwater fish and coral viewing. The dinners are excellent with many choices as is the breakfasts.

SwitzerlandThe website advertised a particular chef with a very good profile, which we were very excited about. At our first meal, we asked a question about the chef and our waiter didn't really respond. Later we asked if the chef wasn't here and we were told he actually left the hotel last year. However, the hotel had not updated their website and he features quite prominently on it. This seemed very deceptive at worst, very lazy at best.
We had a family cabin and it was lovely and spacious.

United StatesThe Wifi is slow, but it's slow everywhere on the island so this is not a reflection on the hotel.
There really aren’t enough superlatives to describe our stay at Hotel Raiatea Lodge. Everyone on staff is delightful and goes out of their way to accommodate any requests. We stayed in room #8 in the main lodge. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and an incredible view from our balcony. The sunsets are spectacular every day. The food is outstanding and beautifully presented. We are vegetarian which the chef accommodated with delicious dishes every evening. The desserts are fantastic and the breakfast buffet is plentiful with freshly baked goods, delicious home made yogurts, cheeses, cold buts, fruit etc. The hotel offers a number of fabulous excursions through local operators which we took advantage of. They include being picked up and dropped off at the hotel which makes it all very convenient. The operators are paid directly in cash and there are several ATM’s in town so that wasn’t a problem. There is also great snorkeling right in front of the hotel. Kayaks are available to go to the Motu (15-20min.) which was a lot of fun. Car rental is also available right on site and charged directly to your room. Cars have a manual transmission and all in great shape. We rented one to drive around the island which was fun. Overall our stay at Hotel Raiatea Lodge exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return.

The local beach in front is ok, not amazing.

United Kingdomthere is nothing we did not like of the property, just if we have to be picky, the bed and pillows were a bit too firm.
Loved everything but in particular: 1) the staff went above and beyond in being helpful and always with a smile 2) the food, out of the ordinary, you would expect to eat this type of food in a Michelin star restaurant 3)the swimming pool was amazing, always clean and never too busy Could not recommend this place enough!

United StatesBeautifully maintained and exceptional service at the desk. Felt like what I’d hoped a Polynesian vacation would feel like. Wish I’d spent more time here and less on Bora Bora. Not only was the value better but we enjoyed ourselves more here. It was less rushed and felt less like a tourist bubble. Bought a pearl at a local farm just down the road direct from the farmer. With more time we’d have spent a day on Tahaa. Much to do…
