How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBreakfasts were the best we had during a month of staying in pensions throughout French Polynesia. Lots of fresh fruit, baguettes with homemade banana bread every day. If any leftovers we can snack on during the day. Location superb right on the lagoon with view of the reef. Nice swimming and snorkeling and free use of kayak and snorkeling gear. Excellent obliging, pleasant and helpful host.
Two private bedrooms open onto the dormitory so you need to walk through the dorm and tread lightly if getting up for the toilet at night.
Thank you for everything. Thank you B. for helping with the mecanic and others Thank you S. for

Verified reviewAs soon as I booked my trip, I got contacted by the owner “Rairoa”, and he gave me all the necessary informations before my stay, wich made me feel comfortable arriving. Once arrived I was impressed by the location of the Lodge which was straight at the waterfront looking on that world famous wave “Teahupoo”. Meeting Rairoa there gave me a welcoming feeling through his heartwarming and authentic Tahitian attitude. There is a Kayak and Snorkeling equipment at the Lodge for free use, which was awesome to explore de lagoon. I can really recommend the place, its quiet, its clean, its welcoming and its teahupoo !!
Thank you

Verified reviewGreat experience to stay beyond the 'end of the road' at Teahupoo. All options for ocean activities are possible here- lagoon, reef, wave, and wild coastline. Footbridge and short path along the coast a highlight too. Out host was very helpful, the group meals top notch, and common spaces great for relaxing or connecting.
Maururu maitai Kevin for visiting us.🙏

Verified reviewSo much to like, huge kitchen with absolutely everything you need, nice lounge area, huge verandah, grass area with umbrellas and chairs and only 20 meters from an uninterrupted view of the lagoon/reef and the famous surf break. I had a view of the ocean from my bed. Huge dorm room, comfy bed, light, locker. Bathrooms huge and well maintained. Breakfast included - home made banana bread still warm each morning, baguettes, home made jam, juice, fruit, coffee/tea all laid out by owner. Even made dinner one night of local dish. This place is awesome- thanks Rairoa great host.
That I couldn't have stayed longer but I had to leave to go home.
Thank you so much. I feel bless when i read those kind of comments.

Verified reviewRairoa himself is brilliant, going above and beyond for us, always smiling and offering great recommendations. The place itself is one of our favourite places we stayed in our whole month in French Polynesia - beautifully clean, great value for money, lovely other guests, really comfortable and the best breakfast and amenities going in the kitchen! (also amazing water pressure in the shower!!). And it is also right on the beach and opposite the Olympic wave! Rairoa prepped an amazing dinner of Carpaccio Tuna and rice and to top it off his wife also made the best guava meringue pie - it is the best pie we have ever had! Can't recommend staying her enough
Nothing - it was brilliant!
HUGE thanks my friends What a comment🙏🙏🙏 really appreciate you and Amaya. I hope see you again

Verified reviewThe house is right by THE wave, so you get to wake up every morning and have your coffee while watching this amazing feat of nature. The house is clean and very comfortable, big kitchen with everything you will need, and a nice patio and kayaks to go out by the ocean. The best part though are the hosts. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and have wonderful stories to share. I was incredibly lucky to spend some time cooking and learning how to make flower crowns with them. This was truly an unforgettable experience. If you are visiting Teahupoo, you should absolutely stay here.
I am only sorry I couldn't stay longer.

Verified reviewThe hosts are super attentive and nice, they make your stay wonderful. The place is beautiful, it's a bit away from everything and the hosts need to come pick you up from the car park, so it's more a place to relax, see the sunset, the waves and listen to the sea.
Nothing, just it's a bit away from everything, but you can walk for 7 min to the car park and there are shops and restaurants a few min away by car.
