How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClose to the airport
Partition walls are paper thin, you can hear people next door breathing. Room is tiny with an uncomfortable mattress on a wooden slat. Constant rooster and air traffic noise, impossible to sleep. No aircon or working fan. No fire protection, only a small stairway to the kitchen below. In case of a kitchen fire, which do happen (there is a burned out building next door), you are dead. No smoke detectors. Dodgy neighborhood. Bring your own toilet paper and expect a cold shower. Charged me an extra 2,500xfp for early check in.

Verified reviewConvenient to the Papeete airport, 1K, easy walk if you know the way.
Honestly, this should be listed as a hostel, and it's cash only, as the owner has no way to take credit cards. It's a very simple place....VERY simple, and more for backpackers and low budget travelers. I will say that the booking.com rate I was quoted was $10US lower than the rate I actually paid....so a bit of a surprise, but I wasn't in the mood to complain, and I had no internet to show the price I expected. The owner was very nice, but people should not be surprised if they arrive to a cash only hostel, and extremely simple accommodations that are basically a place to sleep for one or two nights. In a pinch I would stay again, but there other options are sometimes available nearer the airport, although a bit more expensive. I'll add that as a frequent traveler to French Polynesia I was not upset with the situation as I'm familiar with these kinds of places.

Verified reviewThe staff was very nice but didn't speak English. They keep the place clean, but they didn't spend any extra money on the actual facility/furnishings.
The walls were thin and not even from floor to ceiling. The furnishings were as basic as could be. You could hear domestic disputes out the window. Every time a plane would take off from the airport it would wake me up.

Verified reviewA great place to stay if you are catching early morning flights. We were there on a Saturday night and there was a great selection of food vans nearby. There was always a cup of hot filter coffee available. Each room had a fan to keep cool and brush off any mozzies. I thought it was going to be very noisy, but was actually quite quiet.
It was a bit hard to find. Also it has changed management, and the name recently. It would be nice to have a sign on the main road.

Verified reviewLocation was good, and close to the airport. Good location for an overnight stop between flights at Papeete airport
I paid them for an airport shuttle for my early morning flight. I showed up at the agreed time and nobody came - it was stressful to find another shuttle at 1am. Also got bed bugs and bitten all over my body, and the person smelt heavily of alcohol when I checked-in. I don't recommend this place at all.

Verified reviewClose to the airport.
As a solo female traveller I felt very unsafe here. I left after 2 hours as I felt very concerned about my safety. I only wanted a room until I took a very early flight out the next day. The place is difficult to find with Google Maps and not signposted. I was given a room upstairs with NO DOOR, only a curtain. The fan worked but the light did not work. There was no way to turn a light on and I was forced to use my phone as a torch. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty. I was sharing upstairs with a person who had a door which he could lock. The upstairs area had no lighting, my room had no lighting and no door. I felt completely unsafe staying there. The bed linen smelled and was itchy, the room was unclean. I wish I could have taken some photos to show the state of it, but I wanted out of there as soon as possible. Nice guy moved my car for me, about the only good thing about the stay. I’m not a princess and have stayed in places all over the world, but this place was something else.

Verified reviewVery close to the airport (15minutes walk) - perfect for 1 night stay after arrival or before departure (wouldnt stay there longer). Staff was super nice and helpful. Whole house was clean and so were the shared bathroom. Would use it again for this purpose
Not really private even tho you are in small room (the one I had) - for this type of room there were not even doors (just hanging cover of the room) - but as I said - I didnt mind but still was bit surprised with that

Verified reviewThey have great facilities, the staff are really friendly and supportive, it is really well located. There is a balcony with lovely views
My room wasn't really a room, as it was only separated by a curtain, but this isn't really the end of the world. The airport can be quite noisy, but it's easily ignored. Air conditioning was slightly weak

Verified reviewAs hostels go, this one is small but quite lovely. Twenty minutes easy walk from and to the airport, even at 5:00 a.m. The individual rooms are very convenient, with a lovely, breezy balcony adjoining the bedrooms and sitting area. The kitchen is convenient; even has a cold water dispenser in the fridge door.
If you're booking a single room, ask for the one with a door and a fan. (The other has only a curtain and I did not see a fan there.) I could not figure out how to get hot water in the shower (there seems to be a hot water on demand type heater) but I did not really need it. On the whole nothing major to complain about.

Verified reviewEverything was good except I booked a low std single room which wound up on the second floor. I had 3 suitcases, one quite heavy and I am elderly and partially disabled. I couldn't climb the stairs with all the luggage so I took a dorm bed on the ground floor.. It had a noisy overhead fan and large unscreened windows to catch the breeze in very humid, sweaty February. The single room had a stand fan. Once I borrowed one of those it was much more comfortable. I did not get a rate adjustment for downgrading. The ground floor double room near me rents for at least double what I paid and was booked. The owner was very accommodating providing rides to airport and ferry in town for 1500 ($15), the minimum price for taxis on the island, place is real close to airport and not much further to town. It was a great value. I spent a day or two at the Intercontinental chillin'. It was on the main bus route and near food and market, Bus $2. All had access to a kitchen with frig and tea making.
Wouldn't recommend going to Tahiti in Feb, just went then cause I got a good deal on Paul Gauguin ship, was somewhat disappointed in old ship, prefer Windstar or Oceania probably. Islands beautiful. Hostel in neighborhood so people, chickens up at 4-5am and dogs barking all night if want to as loose. Big nice dog on site, doesn't come in house.Smokers sit on patio outside kitchen door, best to close it if they are there.

Verified reviewAmazing place close to the airport. The hosts went out of their way to welcome me at 3am after my flight got delayed. The facilities were clean and inviting.
The beds could be a little more comfy. Nothing too bad though, especially considering the price.
