How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBungalow on waterside on a nice spot for snorkeling when not too windy. Transfer from airport to the hotel efficiently arranged by Oa Oa Lodge. Good value for money.
Restaurant closed on Sundays. No beach.

Verified reviewThat it was over the water and very spacious, huge bed. Also only a 6 minute walk to nearest supermarket. Leilani and other staff were really friendly and helpful… nothing was too much trouble. Pool was lovely and we had a delicious dinner at their restaurant Le Gecko.

No soap by the sink. I had to get it from a dispenser in the shower.

Verified reviewBeautiful location by the sea, lovely pool area to swim in, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the restaurant was great.
The property is beside a busy road with traffic seemingly passing at all hours of the day and night.

Verified reviewThe location is walking distance from the center of the town. Easy to walk to market and buy food as you will need it. The restaurant Nextdoor is great!
The rooms are dated. I had no AC in my room due to “location by the water” had to sleep with door open and mosquitos eat me ! I counted 20 bites in my body. Not even coffee for amenity, which is the minimum a hotel will provide. Wood in the rooms is tired, paint is dirty and bathroom walls stained from corrosion. I know I paid $389 but still for that price I was expecting more.

Verified reviewWe loved the people who greeted us on arrival, such us Leilani and Lawrence/Tom (???). We loved the location, the beauty of the area where Oa Oa Lodge was located. The grounds were beautiful as well. The place had a restaurant on site. We only used it for one breakfast, as we found it too expensive for what was served. The restaurant was beautiful, though and the service wonderful.
There was no air conditioning. Our host told us "this is not a hotel, it is a pension". What is really a pension? Our concept from the USA and South America is different. The bathroom had fawcets that fell on the floor as we took our first shower!!!(B5). Then, the sinks had just a string of water coming out. Whoever installed those two sinks did a poor job. They took up so much counter space, there was no counter to place anything on top of it. While there was a refrigerator (thanks!!) there were no ice trays. We asked the front office for some, but they told us to ask the restaurant. They were nice and they filled up a place with needed ice. They had no available fans either, though the room had a roof fan. The bed's sheet was the same as the bed cover. Not bad, though no other "pension" before this one offered only a bed cover. Even though the pool was a wonderful addition to the ambiance of this place, we did not like the astro turf surrounding it. We would prefer an actual deck, or real grass. I was surprised not to find a hair drier, or conditioner in the bathroom. Little details that are important. We loved having a water boiler to have instant coffee, or tea.

Verified reviewThe host accommodated our late arrival and had driver picked us up from ferry dock. Great information about the surrounding area as we drove to lodge, if we needed anything.
Nothing to complain about.

Verified reviewThe property is lovely, all the bungalows are in between flowers and plants so it feels like being in a tropical garden. The bungalow over the lagoon was spacious and comfortable, and the balcony with the view is great. You can swim in the lagoon from a little platform outside. People were very nice and helped with transport, booking and everything i needed.

Verified reviewpool
We added an extra person and even though we paid for it, they refused to give us an extra pillow for the guest. Staff was rude (except the man that was working at the desk) the woman who checked us in was rude and the cleaning staff. The room was very hot and there was no soap for the bathroom. They had a kettle in the room, however did not offer coffee. The fan was very old and did not work well, so the room was very hot.

Verified reviewGreat location, friendly and helpful staff. Nice infinity pool and restaurant on the premises. The complex itself is lovely and in a good position. Walking distance to main town with restaurants, food shops and food trucks. Great snorkelling, and an abundance of marine life around the overwater bungalow.
No soap in toilet sink basin, there is however shampoo and shower gel in bathroom. No hairdryer, iron, tea or coffee, plates, cutlery, tea towel, air conditioning and a ceiling fan that has one speed - high. Towels are old, thin and frayed, beds and furniture are very very old. Bed is very uncomfortable. The room wasn’t clean during our 5 night stay. A drive to nearest beach. I did read the reviews before I booked, and I thought, how bad can it be, there are certain standards to adhere to. It was much worse than I expected. I have been away for 14 weeks and slept in 35 rooms, and this is by far the most expensive and of the very lowest quality.
