How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe owners were lovely and always greeted with a smile and a hello
- Ants literally everywhere. In my room, on the tiles, on the kitchen bench, despite cleaning. -Silly rules like kitchen closed for 90% of the day and only open for 2 hours, no alcohol on the patio. Couldn’t be in the house at certain times such as 10am. This is a hostel, some people will have a social drink. - no toilet cover - no proper shower. Would have to turn it off and on to properly wash my hair and body and to not get the water everywhere - the area is smelly and dirty. So many stray and mistreated animals. Scary dogs. Had to hold my breath walking up the street as it was disgusting. - beds were uncomfortable with paper thin blankets. Some didn’t even have bed sheets. - sketchy areas felt unsafe walking up the street with kids out in the early morning of the night

Verified reviewI had a very relaxing stay at Ravehei Smile in Punaauia. The place was peaceful, clean, and surrounded by nature — perfect for unwinding. The room was spacious and comfortable, with everything I needed for a short stay. The host was kind and welcoming, and communication was easy. The location is a bit outside the city center, which I actually liked — it felt calm and local, but still close enough to reach Papeete by car. Overall, it’s a lovely spot if you’re looking for a quiet stay with a warm atmosphere. I would happily return.

Verified reviewThe hosts are super friendly, they gave advise on the area and helped me book a scooter. The guesthouse is up a steep hill, so there is a great sunset view.
Fridge needed a deep clean, the kitchen was only partially equipped, I had to use my own utensils. The WiFi is only strong enough for replying to messages etc., but not enough to google or be on social media. Even though the "quiet time" was announced to begin at 22, there was an older man permanently living in the house who would turn of the lights at 8:45, even when I was sitting outside reading my book.

Verified reviewThe price is amazing and they have made an effort to make the property comfortable for the guests. I absolutely adored the female host, she was warm and super friendly and made me feel very welcome. The transfers on offer are a good price and they are very reliable too.
No air conditioning but what the property lacked in amenities the couple hosting more than made up for this.

Verified reviewThe owner is nice
Rooms without doors and very noisy. Really uncomfortable beds. They were not helpful when asking for information or changing the dates of my stay. The area where is located is very unsafe. There are not nice beaches around. They charge a lot of money for pick up from the airport, always trying to make money out of you. Avoid this place
Hello, so 1. you want to benefit from our hostel in Moorea for the same price, 2. the transport service that we offer is the cheapest in Polynesia, especially when you arrive, and 3. you are dishonest, thank you, madam.

First, the street to get to the house is very complicated, dangerous, it is far from everything, dark and at night it is really scary to get there, because of the people and the huge amount of barking dogs. When we arrived, we immediately wanted to leave, the place is dirty, smelly, the bathroom is depressing and the rooms even worse. We rented a private room to have privacy but it had no walls, it was just a separation from the rest of the house that besides reflecting the outside, did not completely close the room at the top, and the 'door' did not close as it falls down (and the rest of the rooms only had a curtain) and the windows could not be closed, so insects entered the room. The mattress is in terrible condition, as well as the pillows, and it was the only thing the room had. The plugs are almost in the ceiling so you can not practically charge anything because everything is hanging. there is no air conditioning or fan so it is an oven. They tell you that the WiFi is not unlimited so you can only do certain things with it. And to conclude, there was a house party where everyone was shouting, singing and playing music until more than 1am, including the house manager, who when we asked him for help to find a taxi was drunk and could not help us. Even with earplugs I could not sleep until after midnight and had to get up before 6am to catch my ferry. Definitely worth paying a little more and staying somewhere else! This is the worst experience I have had in my travels. I thought Booking had minimum parameters but they do not.
excuse us ma'am but there are several access roads to my hostel. you have not requested transfers. your friend who lives in Polynesia in Tahiti brought you to us, he took the least easy but quickest route .the road where the road is a bit obsolete and with dogs but in Polynesia you will have a lot of dogs on the road or neighborhood .I don't know in this story who was under alcohol but certainly not the management .we got you in and cashed out. you saw who is in charge. your friend present to do the translation translated you when you were waiting to enter. you saw the room, you settled in, you came out and you asked to rent a scooter. your friend present kindly showed you the hello scooter site, then we see the price of the scooters your friend translated to us that you want to be reimbursed to get closer to the city. We kindly told you that you can leave but you will not be reimbursed for your night. the cases are installed in the room and the bed of the cases above the reservations cancel and kindly we have added to your friend that we are there to make your enter and that we are leaving for moorea for our campsite where we have entries at the end of the day . We weren't in Punaauia that evening and you knew it. you've seen who's in charge. know to a customer the next morning that you asked to be dropped off at the airport, the customer kindly did so. you didn't want to pay too much for a taxi. The evening when you say that the management is drunk I don't know who has alcohol in the sense this evening but certainly not us now on Friday or Saturday my clients have a party like everywhere in Polynesia on site the clients put on some background music. in volume I really don't know this draft as you say I have people all around my house where the customers where the music was like you said, my neighbors would have contacted me. I have had no complaints from the neighborhood. don't forget that you are in a youth hostel at your age you are looking for peace and quiet, go to the hotel for more than 300 euros you will not have prices as low as mine in Polynesia . I don't know what basis, alcohol or nastiness, you're getting at but the management was not under alcohol we were in moorea on the sister islands of tahiti and for the rest sorry we did not reimburse you and that this upset you . you can't have everything for cheap and allow yourself to go down and dirty an establishment management out of grudges. you are not the only one. Unfortunately many people have this kind of behavior. here bouking can compensate the hosts of this type of clientele it would be good.

Verified reviewThis is James again. So sorry, the last review I wrote for Ravehei Smile was incorrect--I was thinking of a different place we stayed for a night. Ravehei Smile was ok for our purpose which was to relax a few hours before our ferry. We did not stay overnight. It had comfortable lounges on the porch and access to a restroom. Proprietor was friendly and helpful after we got there. Parking for our rental car was narrow, but available.
It was up an unmarked bad condition narrow road and we had to ask two locals to find it--one phoned them and they guy stood out on the road to flag us down. Google maps does not know this road, so you can't find it. The house was old and had no AC, shared bathroom, and seemed run down, although clean enough.

Not a fan of having a shared toilet and shower but it was super clean and we knew it was shared when we booked it.

Verified reviewThe staff there are amazing and so friendly. Handy location, super close to a supermarket and shopping centre. Picked and dropped us off at the airport in a very timely manner. We really enjoyed our time spent with some locals.
Take some ear plugs if you like a sleep in as there is alot of chickens and dogs in the neighbourhood.
