We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Just everything. First off, Nir our host. He's simply an amazing person, an adventurer in essence. He taught us so much about his lodge that he built from scratch quite a few years back. Then the accommodation is stunning with loads of surprises and discoveries, you're right in the middle of the Bora Bora jungle. Nir was super helpful and drove us around when we needed. Thanks mate, make sure you don't change anything. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!

NetherlandsOnly thing that I can say, is that Booking advertises it as a 5 star hotel. It’s not, no extra amenities. But it’s still very recommended to stay here! Rent a car or scooter though, you will need it.
It’s like staying in a museum of Indiana Jones himself. The owner, Nir, is a very interesting, hospitable and positive individual. The room we stayed in had great views, an very interesting shower (a female statue where water comes out of her folded hands) and a very comfortable bed. The hotel itself is an open air museum with artefacts everywhere you look. Most special boutique hotel we have visited for sure. Compliments to the cleanliness and having a fresh room every day as if you just checked in. Great experience!

ChinaBe careful of mosquitoes, especially when entering and exiting balconies and bathrooms, and make sure the doors were closed.
The room is clean and tidy, like an art museum. It's a secret garden in the jungle, so beautiful. Located on a half hillside, we can ride bicycles for free. It's not far from the pier and Matira Beach, for about 20 minutes riding. We took a bicycle tour around the island. The nearest Marine is PagoPago, where you can connect for sea water activities. The boss is very nice and stopped at the market when picking us up.

United StatesThe property has amazing views, but it means it is at the top of a fairly steep incline that we walked up and down a few times.
The property is decorated amazingly, and so much thought has gone into the grounds, but especially the design of the villas. The outside showers and the design of the area in particular was incredible.

A tropical one-off property that epitomises what’s special about Bora Bora, beautiful wooden and natural stone objects of art intertwined with sheer craftsmanship. An absolutely stunning and amazing place to visit. The vista is to die for so well done Rohotu Fare. We can’t wait to return next year,

United StatesIt was perfection.
Didn't fully comprehend the exotic sanctuary of Rohotu Fare until I saw it with my own eyes. Also, the host couldn't have been more pleasant and accommodating. Made a great call skipping the all-inclusives and experiencing the raw authenticity of Bora Bora.

AustriaThis place is not only simply unique and authentic like nothing you would expect from a tourist destination, but also reflects the spirit, dreams and deep understanding of South Sea culture by its loving and caring owners. Not only extremely comfortable but also a true gem for those who not only know how to look, but make an attempt to see. Super-welcoming and always approachable hosts, who walked every extra mile to make our stay a memory that truly stands out.

United StatesPerfect accommodation.
Our experience was exceptional. Our host picked us up at the boat dock and anticipated our need for a stop for essential groceries on the way to his bungalow. The bungalow was appointed with every need we might have anticipated and all was over the top in quality and in lovely. From the HERMES soap to the fabulous coffee & two kinds of sugar cubes to the exquisite carafe of homey Vanilla Rum. We felt we were at the Four Seasons with a far more exquisite view. Our host was available with advice (take a guide if you hike the mountains) and with accommodation (take my two new bikes if you want to roam the island). We couldn’t have had a better experience with our host nor with the bungalow (I will remember every careful detail our host afforded forever!!!).

United KingdomI loved everything.
Every detail has been thought of and has a story. Nir and his family are incredible hosts that provide a highly personalised touch without imposing on your time with them. What they have built is beautiful beyond words and nothing is too much for them - from giving you a lift to the grocery store to arranging trips on your behalf and even providing a free laundry service! I would live here for years if I could.

SwitzerlandI don't even know how to begin: Nir is not just a host, he welcomes travelers who become friends. The area is an art object, a tropical paradise, a place to dream and reflect. Nir helps you with all activities, he introduces you to the history of the island and also likes to exchange ideas with travelers. Here you are not treated as a number, you are feeling as taking part in a journey into mystical polynesian and pacific history. It is moving to see what has been created here and Nina and I wish all future guests and Nir and his wonderful family only the best!

And of course: Nir and his lovely family were more than just hosts, we really loved every second of our stay! Mauruuru

It’s hard to know where to begin when describing Rohotu Fare - it really is that unique and special. Nir is a modern-day Gaudi - his vision and creativity have created something so outside the norm that it’s nearly impossible to describe it in a way that does it justice - you just have to experience it. This is not a place for tourists that like international hotel chains and are not really interested in the culture and heritage of the place they’re visiting. However, if you want to experience a living work of art, surrounded by historic artefacts, carvings and tikis collected and created over a lifetime….if you want to shower outside in privacy but with water flowing from the hands of a female statue…..if you want to stay in a luxurious bungalow in the middle of lush forest with stupendous views - then you should go and stay at Rohotu Fare. Nir is one of the nicest and most interesting people you could ever meet and he and his lovely wife have created a true paradise in what is already paradise. Don’t hesitate, just go!

United StatesA couple of things that I personally didn’t like. 1) Not so private. You can hear other people’s conversations and movements from the next bungalows. I had hoped for a little more privacy. 2) Nir and his wife treated us very well and offered their help for driving us to the supermarket and the bank. But, a little room for improvement would be when booking restaurant reservations through them. I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate our honeymoon and, after googling, found a couple of options that seemed interesting to us. I asked for assistance with reservations and was told that it couldn’t be done and to look at reservations on the main island instead. While I may not know the ins and outs of the island, it would’ve been better to be provided with transportation options and cost for the restaurants I mentioned rather than a flat out no. When we found another option on the main island, we were told that we would need to book our own transportation. Again, that’s not a problem but a better service would have been that this would be taken care of as part of their hospitality service. Furthermore, my wife and I had booked all our tours on our own prior to arriving. When we were asked if we needed help with tours and mentioned this, it did feel like we were met with a cold shoulder and suddenly couldn’t be driven to the main dock for one of our tours due to “insurance liability issues”, which seems odd given that we were just driven to to the main dock and back to go to the supermarket a few minutes before having this conversation. 3) We were offered to go to a local dance festival as they told us it would be a great show. We felt a little bit pressured to go since they asked us many times. We finally acquiesced. The cost of the event was $40 for two people and while it isn’t a big amount, we felt like it wasn’t a great show. Also, on our way back to the hotel, we were told that the festival was more for locals than tourists.
Beautiful bungalow and well kept. The walk to get to it is also sublime. A small piece of paradise and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bora Bora.

New ZealandLeaving at the end of our stay.
Rohutu Fare is an exceptional, unique place to stay, nestled on the hill with magnificent views. We will never forget our stay here. From the moment we were welcomed at the jetty and driven to the hotel in a beautifully quirky Land Rover, to the moment we said our goodbyes to Nir at the end of our stay, this was a fabulous experience. We loved the attention to detail: the colonial-chic-meets-Polynesian-style that makes this place truly unforgettable. As vegetarians, having our own cooking facilities meant we didn’t need to stray far from our room of an evening (Bora Bora doesn’t cater too well for veggies), and we were able to rustle up tasty meals in our wonderfully comfortable bungalow. Nir is the most attentive and welcoming of hosts and we hope to return one day. We’d highly recommend Rohutu Fare to anyone looking for a luxury stay with a difference on Bora Bora.

United StatesThere was nothing at all amiss.
This is a very special place. I doubt there is one like it anywhere else. The garden setting, with sculptures and water fountains is amazing. The room - spacious, very well appointed and with exceptional art and other features - was wonderful. Nir is a fantastic host, who picked us up at our previous lodging and dropped us off at the ferry when we left. The free bicycles were great for getting to/from the beach and lunch.

AustraliaAbsolutely nothing. Its was magical. Just note that the hill up is a little steep but again I managed this fine whilst being pregnant - but if that’s an issue for your personal mobility, I’m sure you can contact Nir and seek support to manage it!
I have no words to describe our stay at Rohotu Fare. It is without a doubt my most favourite accomodation I have ever stayed in and I would come back to Bora Bora simply for how I felt when staying here. I don’t know where to start - the walk through the jungle to your room, the room itself is fit for royalty, the view, the special touches and care that has gone into every detail such as the art, furnishings, mosquito coils put on every day etc, and don’t forget the magical BATHROOM!!!!! Nir and his wife are truly incredible hosts - so kind, accomodating and caring - I have never felt so welcome. We made very good use of the bicycles to cycle the entire island (I am 5 months pregnant and still made it - absolute highlight) and to dinner most evening. There is lots of food places around but difficult to know if they will be open that evening or not. If you want to book in advance and have concrete plans, Nir will help make bookings for you. But we loved going to the fly and most enjoyed eating at local food trucks. We also highly recommend hiring a boat and the full day snorkelling - you just can’t see the island in full any other way. People told me to not expect too much from Bora Bora and I can tell you I was blown away, it is now one of my favourite places in the world. This accomodation is in large part a reason for that - it makes it feel local, central and routed in the island. It’s luxury without the massive $$$$ and it’s so accessible to all activities on the island.

United StatesThe design and overall feel that Nir has created at Rohotu Fare is genuinely unique and an experience that I would recommend highly. I enjoyed the close proximity to the everyday life and culture of the island. Enjoyed being in the jungle, yet still feeling immersed in rustic luxury. For obvious reasons bug spray is needed, but I never felt overburdened, attacked, or annoyed by insects, and most times it wasn't even a thought. The proximity to food and the beach was within walking or biking distance, and anything beyond that was easily coordinated. The room was beautiful with a museum-worthy collection of art. It had everything I needed for my stay and was cleaned regularly. A lovely and memorable experience.

GermanyThe Lodge Rohotu Fare is located in the middle of the jungle with a fantastic view of Mount Otemanu, which offers a lot of great photo opportunities: be it the landlord Nirs exotic flower garden nearby, or his villa, which is like a museum and collection of Tahitian handicrafts. Our top insect-proof villa was also individually designed: among other things, with an old typewriter from my hometown Chemnitz (on the other side of the world!). Nir likes to give tips, even before we arrived, and drives his guests to the supermarket or excursion in his military jeep. An extraordinary experience! Thank you Nir for this beautiful stay.
