Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

DenmarkHard to say!
Beyond expectations. Quiet, spacious and very comfortable bungalow. Direct access to the water, where swim, snorkeling and kayaking just await! Everything is well thought, both functional and "solid". The hosts are very generous with their food, boating, and hospitality in general, including planning trips and such. You need a vehicle (or can rent theirs). I had rented a scooter in town and enjoyed this particular corner of the island.

United KingdomThe road leading to the site was steep and had a number of switchback turns, hard to negotiate in our rental car.
Raiatea Sur Mer was indeed on the mer. You could easily watch the sunrise over the water which was lovely. The owners were quite helpful and welcoming. The kitchen was communal and shared with owners.

United StatesThere are more options for food places closed by. Location is about 40 minutes drive from Uturoa, small city with markets and ATMs. The bungalow itself is nicely kept. Very clean surrounded by beautiful landscape.
This place is more like family style bed and breakfast place. You have your own bedroom and bathroom with outside patio. You have access to a common kitchen area where you have a nice view of the lagoon. You can save any food purchased from the market in the refrigerator assigned to you. The owner lives in the front bungalow which you have easy access to them if you want to see them. They encourage you to swim and use the kayak available at the property. You can feed the fishes from the common dock area if you have food left over. The owner gave you a nice introduction to the area and give you guidance to where to visit. Definitely rent a car if you want to explore the area. Very hard to find tour or taxi pick-up beyond PK 14 or Uturoa in Raiatea. The area is very beautiful, peaceful and quiet. Bring insect repellant, you will need them at night. Most of the restaurant closed from 1 PM - 4 PM. Plan your trip accordingly. The property is sitting next to the beautify lagoon with a mountain back drop. It's a good hike up hill to get in and out from the property. There's nothing around the area in terms of night entertainment.

United KingdomI wished we could have stayed for a month instead of 3 days! We loved our stay. The hosts were kind, helpful and welcoming and we learned a lot about Polynesia. The bungalow is very spacious, including the bathroom, and there is a walk-in closet. The bed was very comfortable, and the communal kitchen was such a delight, they have great appliances. A lot of thought has gone into building this place, for example having a door that goes directly into the bathroom so that you don’t fill the main room with sand. The property is kayaks and we kayaked to the most pristine motu, where we saw baby sharks!! Incredible place.

United StatesPlease see above, this is a quiet island with little for tourists. It is for relaxation. If you want to go out to lunch, you may not find anywhere that is open. Be prepared to buy and fix your own food.
Raiatea is a remote island with little infrastructure. It is breathtakingly beautiful. But it is not set up for tourists, which is fine, but visitors must be prepared to make their own food and carry water, driving at least 1 hour to find a restaurant or supermarket . Raiatea sur mer is a freestanding room /bathroom within a lovely home, owned by a friendly couple who want to visit with you and talk, in French. They will also cook you dinner if you arrange it with them . The dinner is lavishly done , pricey, but definitely nice. The bedroom, thankfully, has a mini split air conditioner, as it was very very hot. They lent us a kayak to tool around in inside the reef. We had a lovely time. There is a UNESCO world heritage site, a Marae, within 2 miles of our homestay.

United StatesWe loved everything about it.
There's a large and fully equipped kitchen that is shared by guests and the owners. You can prepare your own or for a reasonable price they can prepare food for you. The owners (Henrette and Gilles) are such wonderful people and made our stay there, one that will be hard to beat. Many thanks to them for going above the standard for hosts.

SwitzerlandWhat a warm welcome & farewell from the hosts, very peaceful far away from hustle&bustle but super close to botanical garden&historical site, fresh fruits directly from the garden, baguette in the morning, and pizza with salad that Henriette and Gilles prepared for our last supper at their beautiful place. You have your own terrace, however, you share another big nice terrace and spacious kitchen with the hosts and other guests (one more house). Henriette also organized an excursion for us to Tahaa, with the lunch on a private motu, which is very recommended (with Are Tours). Our daughter loved playing with hosts’ dog and cats.

United StatesBecause of the remote location, eating choices at restaurants is very limited. But you can cook in the kitchen.
We loved everything. The hosts are fantastic, so kind and generous. The unit is large with privacy, lovely views and lots of space for unpacking. We opted to have breakfast provided and it was amazing. We were treated like family. The location is lovely, remote so you definitely need a car. The best beach on the island is just a few kilometers away next to the great UNESCO historical site!
