Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bungalows are so fun, we really enjoyed waking up to an amazing ocean view every morning. The staff are AMAZING, just the best humans imaginable. Warm, friendly, always eager to help and share island knowledge, we’ll come back for the staff alone! Dislikes, the mini fridge, where 100% of food has to be stored because of ants, only sort of worked. Plus, a party of four and a mini fridge for everything just doesn’t provide enough space for drinks and snacks when we just wanted to hang out and not drive to lunch or dinner. Lastly, the driveway to the resort… maybe do a little bit of road maintenance?

United StatesEverything! The view, the well kept grounds and the beautiful nature, amazing sunset and just one in a lifetime experience for us and our kid who “slept” on a house on a tree. We loved the design of the bungalow we stayed and in general how this lodge was created.

United StatesReally unique and cool place. We stayed in Maara and it felt like a jungle treehouse. The grounds are immaculately kept. Best to have a car to come here as it’s at the far other end from where the airport is and taxis are very expensive. Much more quiet down here, there are some small local restaurants nearby.

United StatesBeware that this idyll is in the wilds and you will see lizards and mosquitoes in your bungalow. Pools are not long enough to swim laps. The restaurant had the same menu for dinner the two nights that we were there, with just three entrees, and overpriced, but then so is everything in Tahiti!
Location was amazing with beautiful views and easy access to the wave. Our bungalow was quirky in a fun way and well equipped. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. They allowed two of us to split a breakfast which was greatly appreciated and the breakfast was delicious.

New ZealandHaving to go to the restaurant for fresh drinking water is a bit of a drawback, but not major. The restaurant is expensive to eat at, but the food is good, and the cost is not out of line with resorts etc, also the kitchen facilities in the room mean you have a choice to eat there or not.
Loved the aesthetic of the whole place. This is an exceptionally beautiful location and the fales all have their own very private aspect. The rooms are unconventionally built using modern takes on heritage materials, and are comfortable, spacious and interesting. All facilities are designed with the user in mind. Wifi is only available at the restaurant, which got our teenagers a bit more energised. There is plenty to do around the place with the highlight being the Thomas Church inspired pool; sheltered and beautifully designed.

AustraliaHonestly nothing but just be weary of the very steep driveway. There is mirrors to help - we had no issues in our very tiny rental car.
This is one of my favourite places I’ve ever stayed. The facilities were beautiful (we were in Aito cabin and it was one of the more basic ones comparatively and it was still mindblowly beautiful!!!). The views were amazing, great shower and comfortable beds with the perfect balance of simple of luxurious. It rained during our stay for at least half of it and it honestly didn’t matter. We also thought the wifi was good in the hut and it was nice to disconnect at other times and the food was honestly unbelievable. I couldn’t believe some reviews say just okay. Yep, it’s expensive but food is very expensive in French Polynesia. The service was amazing - especially for two non French/Tahitian speakers, they were so kind and accomodating. The value for money overall was incredible, this was the cheapest place of our stay and perhaps the best. Don’t second guess at all, just book. Ps. Book the wave safari - you won’t regret it.

The beauty of the land is matched by the beauty of its people. The location, the innovative design of the buildings to work with the natural environment, the staff, the food, it was simply perfect.

United StatesSince you're up in the jungle, there are lots of mosquitos. Make sure you bring a bug repellent of some kind for the mosquitos. They sell some at the supermarket on Tahiti but if you have a favorite citronella candle you like, bring it with you!
This place is AMAZING. We stayed in Vai Iti, which had an uninterrupted view of the sea and it was not visible by anyone; we had COMPLETE privacy and our own jacuzzi and hammock. The property is nestled up in the jungle and we were able to enjoy all the sounds of nature and no people sounds at all. (Due to the remote location, make sure you get a car!) All this combined with the extremely reasonable price and I would 110% stay here again.

United StatesThe wifi was pretty slow/spotty, even in the restaurant area. The restaurant is quite expensive for what you get, but there isn't really much else in the area. We ended up getting groceries in the Carrefour, and just eating in the bungalow.
The view from Kava was absolutely phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting at our table and watching the waves and sunset. It was also quiet enough that we could hear the waves at night - somewhat surprising given how far up the side of the mountain the property sits. They were also very easy to work with. Due to traffic in Papeete, we were late arriving, but they worked with us to make sure we were still able to get in for the night. We weren't bothered by it much, but there will definitely be bugs. Bring bug spray and use the mosquito nets if you are in a bungalow that's open air.
